She did not go deep enough into why these QR codes are so dangerous. It's not just that they may take you to a fake website where you might be duped into entering your personal login information. Some of these sites can automatically download malware onto your phone without you doing anything other than scanning the QR code. Every time software engineers try to make it easier for marketing people to get to you, bad actors find a way to exploit this new path into your computer or phone. 😖
Wouldn’t even occur to me to scan a QR code on a mystery package. I’d go to Amazon to see if I’d ordered anything recently and forgotten, and if not, would return the pkg to the carrier.
Yeah, that's true. It could be on anything. I think they're just saying that with the Holiday season coming up when people are sending and receiving more packages than usual it becomes more likely that someone will be the victim of a package scam. They're just giving a heads up cause of the time of year.
It’s not on a package. It’s included with the contents of a package. To try and dupe you into scanning it after receiving an unsolicited package that you’re curious might’ve been sent to you in error or might be a holiday gift.
There's nothing to do. They sent it to you. It's yours. There's not really anything else that you could do. I was getting stuff I didn't order a few years ago. Back then the scam was they would mail you an item from Amazon like it was a gift and then use that as a way to fake reviews. I got all kinds of things. A wallet. Fake crocs. A special charger for iPhones. And more. I donated it or gave it to someone who could use it. There was nothing to be done. Amazon did not seem to care one iota.

She went deep enough. I understood everything she said.
Thankfully, I have a natural aversion to using QR codes.
I am not scanning anything and won't scan a menu either. I will leave and go to another restaurant
No data on my phone. No desire to scan ANYTHING. Go ahead and send me free merch! Lol
This is why I walk out of restaurants that make me scan QR code
Who the hell scan QR CODES from something you never ordered.

I've been receiving unsolicited packages but there are no QR codes. They're addressed to me and I'm so confused
Why does the QR code necessarily need to be on a package? Scammers could put it on anything, like a poster for an event or something.

I wish they had said what to do if we receive a mystery package, in terms of what to do with the actual package.

But it can be much more than that. It may be able to hack your personal and or sensitive information stored on your phone like bang passwords, ect.
She is trying not to move her hands all over place but failing miserably.
