I remember as a kid I couldn't handle plot twists well. So that silly joke of an ending gave me an actual existential crisis and made me really upset for several days. That's pretty hilarious.
I just love how creative this game is, not only visually, but the gameplay in each level is different, with a very creative mechanic for each one (radically changing the way you play), so effective and so entertaining.
For whatever reason (seems to be a thing with Virgin Interactive published ports, MMX3 for PSX was also PAL exclusive), EWJ2 was PAL exclusive for PSX.
Wow! This is a blast from the past. I had Earthworm Jim 2 on PC, and the second level in this video was totally absent from it. No idea it even existed!

I didnt know what i had to do so i stuck at this level until i saw It on internet its even worse that multiple times i said maybe if i use this ballon but after some time trying i always said nope to hard and If its not it Will be waste of time
Wow, you've certainly got some impressive chops with this game! Your showing for the last 'Puppy Love' was especially spectacular. It's my opinion (after playing this game), that it's impossble not to drop 1 or 2 of those puppies. You make playing it look so easy! Why does 'Porterhouse Cow' look like 'Joe Camel' smoking a cigarette? I think that the EWJ games where among the Best side-scrollers of all time. Great music/SE, funny characters, zaney story-lines, and graphics made them classics.
I find it funny that Peter tears you a new one if you drop too many puppies, but has no problem taking a bomb out and throwing it at Psycrow, who is holding his pups hostage.
I always felt this game, much like it's predecessor, had some odd pacing issues. It spends so much time focusing on ways to "spice up" the regular gameplay, that there isn't much "regular" gameplay left to be spiced up. So when it does have the regular gameplay, it has to cram in so many different things at once, that you can barely take it all in. Take Level 1 for example. Throughout this fairly short stage, you get a TON of different weapons, all in really quick succession. The weird thing is though, there are so few actual enemies around, that you can't make any good use of your gigantic arsenal. There are a few flying squids, but those aren't really good for experimenting. They fly around erratically, are often obscured by the edge of the screen, and they die so quickly that it's hard to see any difference between all your weapons. Then, in Level 2, you don't even HAVE any of those weapons, instead carrying that plasma drill the entire time. In level 3, since you have the salamander gimmick, there's once again no way to make use of those weapons. Level 4, the flying stage, another gimmick level. Level 5 finally has some regular gameplay again, but you still spend more time carrying cows than fighting anything. There are a couple of enemies, sure, but they seem more like a minor annoyance than a threat, so there's no real difference between shooting them with your standard gun and shooting them with a huge plasma shot. Level 6 has you floating the entire time, so there's not even any notable combat. Level 7's enemies are so weak that there's not even a difference between shooting them and whipping them. Level Ate finally offers a consistent threat that's worth fending off with all you got. And while the straw enemies once again go down in one hit, at least there are plenty of them. For Flamin' Yawn, I don't know if it matters how much damage you do, but it looks like he will always retreat as soon as you damage him. So all in all, it seems like they just developed a whole bunch of weapons, but didn't give much thought into how or when they should be used. Feels like they just went "I wanna be able to use a ton of cool weapons!" and so they programmed them in. All of them. And then had to find some way to include them all.
I liked the first better, but this one had a great sound track. Excellent and classic games. I wish they would just make a modern 2D version of the game as they did for Rayman.
Huh, didn't know the Gen version did some things better, as did the Saturn. Gen had more of a 3D effect to the BG in puppy love and even the houses that Psycrow and Peter were in. Saturn had some better BG effects in stage one. Not to say the PS version is a slouch it obviously has advantages to the ol' Genny cart, better music and some extra animations and cow pics....what? Cow pics are a selling point!
They changed the background in puppy love with a lava theme to make it seem more likely that Jim is panting because its really hot, instead of the marshmallow being too big
@@cannon9009 - the new backgrounds all look horrible. The Shiny team had great artists and the original games look beautiful throughout. Whoever did the extra art for these ports was obviously not a great artist and clearly did not have any input from the original art team who might have exercised some quality control or questioned whether cheap pre-rendered CG was really a good fit for this game. Or better still just asked them to leave it alone and please not try to "improve" anything.
So many memories. But hahaha awwww the cows are so cute when they go in to the cannon and their ears flop around and they stick out their tongue. Awwww haha. = )

@Over Shantae'd I wouldn't really count the puppy segments as stages. They're more like minigames. Like the asteroids levels in the first game.

I liked the first better, but this one had a great sound track. Excellent and classic games. I wish they would just make a modern 2D version of the game as they did for Rayman.
