    Thank you for this recipe. I made flan today and followed this exact recipe & let me tell you it was a hit. Everyone loved it. The only thing I did differently was add 6 eggs since all I had were Medium eggs and instead of 45 minutes I kept it in for an hour because the center didn't fully set. After 3-4 hours of cooling the end result was perfect. Thank you!!

    you don't have to, but after it comes out the blender sift it and try to remove the remaining bibles and the flan will come out extra smooth and more rich.

    If I can make it, anyone can make it!!! First time attempting at making flan. I followed the recipe exactly as Evelyn instructed. I am a horrible cook and didn’t even understand the science of the caramel (I got burned twice, don’t touch the caramel). I left it to cool in the refrigerator 4 hours because it was important that it didn’t break (presentation) and I read that some of the people on this thread recommended it. I was scared because of the amount of eggs. Was it too little? I wondered. But finally, the moment of truth.... IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! Do NOT change a thing to this recipe. Thanks Evelyn.

    Te falto algo el flan no se vira en ese momento primero se Deja un tiempo afuera para q el caramelo se derrita luego se mete en la nevera que enfrie luego es que lo viertes o lo viras en un plato, todo es para evitar que se rompa y quede mas bonito...👏🏽😉

    excellent explanation! i made a flan last night the texture was great but when it came time to flip it it broke ! i was devastated! what i am doing wrong? does the water holding the baking pan have to be hot or cold when putting in the oven? thanks Evelyn

    • @EvelynDominguez1
      @EvelynDominguez1  7 років тому +4

      Manuel Guzman Thank you !! it doesn't matter if the water is hot or cold put the important thing is the flan has to be cooled completely before you turn it over.

    • @yvonneserrano738
      @yvonneserrano738 7 років тому +1

      Manuel, I learned it depends on the size pan you use for the amount of ingredients, too large it will split when turning over.....A MUST........FLAN MUST BE COOLED DOWN........I put mine in the Fridge to cool down

    • @marilisfrank
      @marilisfrank 7 років тому

      Manuel Guzman let it cool.down put it in the fridge for atleast 2 hours then flip it ... if u follw all the steps trust me u wont have any problem

      Manuel Guzman I use 5 eggs, my friend uses 6. My mom used to use the whole dozen and only condense milk lol, she didn't know the recipe, but it was still good. My friend adds cream cheese, it's the bomb... another adds coconut milk. I like to use maple syrup if I dont do enough sugar.

    Why do you have to put the glass in a metal pan with water? Will the glass break if it is inserted without the pan? Please reply, thank you.

      The steam from the water in the bottom pan will help it cook thoroughly

      Putting the flan in a water bath or a (Bain Marie ) will keep your eggs from curdling and your flan from splitting or drying out .

      y. cruz the water bath will also stop the caramel from burning and tasting bitter.

    That was a really wise idea to use the blender. Bravo for making it simple. Yummy. If it wouldn’t put me into a diabetic coma I could eat a whole one by myself. I love flan.
