Well for a limited time, you can watch any Bond film from Dr. No to The World Is Not Enough for free on You Tube. Plus someone put Casino Royale 1954 on UA-cam.
I loved watching this on the Bond DVDs. It was very interesting. Everyone looked like they were having fun making it. Loved the narration. I don't know why they changed Adolfo Celi's voice. It made him more menacing. It was nice to hear about Bond's backstory. Its cool that Goldeneye actually called back to this. Great use of Nightfire music Calvin.
If I had to guess it's to make some more, for lack of a better word, like a sissy? Or at least more effeminate compared to Bond. Depends on the villain, but giving him a higher voice would undercut his villainy by just a bit to make him more satisfying for Bond to defeat. Of course that's all just speculation, but who knows?
Something that's bugged me for years is that while Claudine Auger as Domino is sexy as hell, her voice and character also comes across as slightly out of the situation. It fits her character from the novel as she's supposed to be somewhat naive and so used to her life of luxury that she's blind to the evil around her (she has her awakening after she finds out her brother has been murdered), but hearing Auger's real voice, she sounds as sexy as she looks. Even if it had modified the character, they should have just kept it. It would have made for a far more engaging character. Celi also sounds absolutely fine undubbed. I always believed it was because his voice was too accented, but here he sounds more English than Italian.
Great video as always Calvin! I had never heard the original voices of Largo and Domino before so that was really cool. I much prefer their original voices now! All the best
@@tiffaniaporchiazzo3397 hi, got good news for you. Every Bond movie from Dr. No till The World Is Not Enough is free to watch on UA-cam. So yes all the Roger Moore bonds are free to watch.
Have you ever seen Munich? It's an early 2,000's Spielberg movie with Daniel Craig that despite being based on real events feels...kind of like a Daniel Craig Bond movie in regards to the protagonists having to worry about the Geo political effects of their actions while also being wrecked emotionally by them. I think it's Spielberg's last masterpiece and really has edge and TWO Bond villain actors playing father and son (The dude who played Drax in Moonraker as a Mathis meets Don Corleone type and the guy who plays Dominic Green plays his son). It's a great movie and has the best pacing and most experimental film making of anything he's done this century.
Not sure if they would make a good review but other docs to check out: 'Bond Girls are Forever' 2002 with updates in 2006+2012 [hosted by Maryam d'Abo] Best Ever Bond 2002 [Hosted by Roger Moore] Music of Bond Night 2012 [Hosted by Honor Blackman] The World of James Bond 1995[Hosted by Liz Hurley!]
Would be great if they release the series in 4K they maintain the original voices. I think in the blu rays they fix the fast motion sequences like in thunderball in the fight in the disco volante.
The difference between the two line readings for "You promised to buy me a drink" is very interesting. Auger's original reading of the line seemed quite annoyed at Largo whereas she is more demure in the dubbed version.
Very true! I feel like a lot of negative aspects about Bond actresses performances can be more linked to flat dubbing. I've heard "wooden" as a criticism against all of Anya, Holly and Melina but in all cases I feel the voice dubbing (whether the original actress or not) is always the main let down. Some performers find it difficult or just aren't directed well enough during the looping.
@@sashaking1111 I agree. I don't understand why they had to dub so many actors. I understand if they had problems with English, but in fairness don't cast someone if they can't read the lines properly. But it's ludicrous with actors doing the dubs themselves. Just use the set audio. The only successful dubbing I can find is Michael Collins dubbing Gert Frobe as Goldfinger. I couldn't believe that wasn't Frobe speaking on set!
Hey Calvin. Are you going to continue reviewing the mission impossible movies? I enjoyed your reviews for the first four films, and would love to hear your thoughts on the last two.

Celi also sounds absolutely fine undubbed. I always believed it was because his voice was too accented, but here he sounds more English than Italian.
Great video as always Calvin! I had never heard the original voices of Largo and Domino before so that was really cool. I much prefer their original voices now!
All the best
You going to do a video on the recent collapse of the Arecibo antenna? Life has imitated art.

@@tiffaniaporchiazzo3397 hi, got good news for you. Every Bond movie from Dr. No till The World Is Not Enough is free to watch on UA-cam. So yes all the Roger Moore bonds are free to watch.
@@greatwuta Yay!!!!!!!💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
is there any place where I can watch this special?
Can we get a Calvin Dyson documentary?
That bond Poe crossover was 🔥
Found you utterly hilarious on this one!
Largo would have been way better undubbed! Adolfo Celi’s voice was deeper and more menacing.
great video !
Calvin, I'm ready to see you rank the bond actors!
Interesting bit of history
The Bond-Edgar Allen Poe poem is amazing lol
hilarious Poe set piece, congrats!
I love the poem
Why WERE they dubbed? Just like the undubbed Goldfinger clips, the voices nearly match!
Your Allan Poe was hilarious, Calvin!!
LOL ! Edgar Allan Poe is definitely not a counterpart to a set designer. I would think Frank Lloyd Wright would be more appropriate.
Good point! I struggle to grasp at what the narration was really getting at with that...
actually, the house in North by Northwest is a bit Ken Adamish
@@kalamar2 I frickin love the "modernist" style of North by Northwest.
@@ricardocantoral7672 from the very begginig of the movie... that green WB lion...
@@kalamar2 Hitch made better films but North by Northwest is by far his most stylish.
Not sure if they would make a good review but other docs to check out:
'Bond Girls are Forever' 2002 with updates in 2006+2012 [hosted by Maryam d'Abo]
Best Ever Bond 2002 [Hosted by Roger Moore]
Music of Bond Night 2012 [Hosted by Honor Blackman]
The World of James Bond 1995[Hosted by Liz Hurley!]
I read that Celi's voice was overdubbed because his accent was too thick, it seemed clear enough to me
That what they say when most actors get dubbed in the franchise.
"This is great!"
It's basically a TV version of the annuals of the time
Creative combination of Bond & Poe. Also, how did you get that video of Joan Crawford calling Connery? ;)
As daniel craig would say he still has spots!! I remember seeing dr no/ from russia with love in 1964.
Would be great if they release the series in 4K they maintain the original voices. I think in the blu rays they fix the fast motion sequences like in thunderball in the fight in the disco volante.
What you're proposing here is art revisionism, ala George Lucas. To put it another way: Not good.
Wow, you’re actually great at poetry

Please do another video with some Bond poetry.
Did you know Rosa Klebbs henchman is played by Walter gottel who plays general Gogol later
In principle, yes. But in fact he was a Double L Villain.
7:17 like Jeff East in Superman Movie
Sean Connery is my favourite bond
'Boobies and Guns' sounds like it might have been a working title for an early script draft at some point too
There's a TV movie spy spoof called Spies, Lies And Naked Thighs
I love your ruminating

never Bond Moore!

Very entertaining and funny
The difference between the two line readings for "You promised to buy me a drink" is very interesting. Auger's original reading of the line seemed quite annoyed at Largo whereas she is more demure in the dubbed version.
Very true! I feel like a lot of negative aspects about Bond actresses performances can be more linked to flat dubbing. I've heard "wooden" as a criticism against all of Anya, Holly and Melina but in all cases I feel the voice dubbing (whether the original actress or not) is always the main let down. Some performers find it difficult or just aren't directed well enough during the looping.
@@calvindyson Wouldn't it be very cool if blu-rays had a feature whereby you could watch the movie with the original vocal track
@@damienfenton3880 yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@davidjames579 nor could I!! He’s so good
