Hello everyone and welcome to another vlog! I recently went out onto instagram and asked what types of videos people would like to see more of from me, and a lot of you said a readathon! Look, I tried to read quite a bit during this day in my life vlog... however, I feel like I read less than I would normally read on a good reading day hahah
In the end, I read over 100k words, which is not terrible! But for a readathon vlog I feel like it's a bit of a fizzled attempt. Next time I try a reading challenge I'll definitely try to do it on a quieter day, so I can read as many books as possible. Regardless, I hope you guys like this reading vlog. Take care and enormous love 💛

I liked that this ‘readathon’ video was way more realistic than other readathon contents on Booktube. As much as I watch those videos for cosy vibes and escapism, it’s pretty impossible for me to have a whole 24 hours reserved only for reading as I’m living with a partner and also trying to live a working adult’s life. This video was so needed 😭

Woah I'm really early today. Taking the opportunity to drop by and say, Christy, your videos really light up my world. I'm a book lover and a very introverted person, I hate chaos. It's so hard to find a good channel nowadays on UA-cam where there's not a lot going in at once. But your channel, is such a peaceful place! Perfect sanctuary for people like me! Thank you for making such amazing videos, Christy, you are a beautiful human being. Have a good day love 💗🥺 sending u all the good wishes and vibes in the world ✨ 🌱

I whole-heartedly agree with @Rasha Aya about * e m m i e * too. Btwn her and Christy, their demeanor and the way they edit their videos, you'll have what you need. I know what you mean about chaotic videos. A content creator can make very insightful and compelling content, but if the camera, the editing, the scenery, or the sound is frenzied or too abrupt, it's not a good time.

The old man and the sea, it's one of those works of Hemingway that I ended loving it, that one is a master piece of his and is also very short.

1 serving of gf pancakes: 3/4 c of oats (blend into oat flour), 1 banana, pinch salt, 1/8 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4-1/2 cup water. Blend all ingredients in a blender, cook like pancakes

You did so well! I really enjoyed strange weather in Tokyo. I've never read Hemingway. My work colleague has leant me a book called Mrs Hemingway, which is written from the perspectives of all of his wives - my colleague also said that he seems unpleasant!
The ginger that you bought - if you put it in the freezer, you can grate the amount you need for recipes then put it back in the freezer again, so you don't have to worry about using it quickly 😊

"A Moveable Feast" really isn't the best place to start with Hemingway. His novels are much more pleasant reads. I would recommend "The Old Man and the Sea" or "The Sun Also Rises". "The Old Man and the Sea" has especially good writing.

    • @CMri

Depends on the person. I loved Moveable Feast and I find his other work very boring although not bad in literary terms if that makes sense.

I just went gluten free like a week ago!! I had my celiac testing and it came back negative. But I feel so much better without it, so I’ll just remain gluten free except for sparse treats I suppose. Wishing you gluten free luck! lol
I tried strange weather in Tokyo and was put off by how rude our protagonist was to sensei, and sensei was a bit odd too. (I don’t remember protagonist’s name). I DNF’d at only like 25%. I’ll pick it up again! I liked being in Tokyo again, if only just in my mind.
Definitely picking up the Hemingway book! It’ll be my first Hemingway!

how long is a day in Australia? it must have more than 24hs! don't know how you managed to do all those things AND read two short books. well done, you. The thing with a moveable feast is... that they are like random stories about his life in the 1920s but there's no structure, no rhyme or reason, he doesn't introduce characters much, you just have to guess most of the time. And yes, he comes off as a rude, bully guy. Because he was haha. And it was the 1920s after all. That's his view of the lost generation whilst being a part of it. However, there's this other book "Sylvia Beach and the lost generation", written by Noel Riley Fitch, focused mainly on Beach but also around all those characters that were around her bookshop. Quite a long book about the era so you might want to look it up. xx

too much stimulation maybe, i find i end up reading continuously for hours only when im forced to be completely offline due to thunderstorms 😁!
maybe you can try lighter stuff like manga or webnovels? and most short stories are doable in 30min, or i don't know if the free Serial Reader app still exists but it's great for reading classics, it breaks every book down into 15-20 min segments for daily reading.

I haven't been vaccinated yet, unfortunately; Australia is really behind compared to some other countries. In SA our case numbers are low, currently, but a lot of the east coast is in lock down. We have to wear masks while in shops, so it's easier to leave it on.

I have read quite a lot of Hemingway, he is an arrogant ass, but For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Sun Also Rises are great books. I think A Moveable Feast is generally considered a lesser of his works. He is a very patchy writer.
