i appreciate this SO MUCH. my non-reader friends are always like "girl where do you find the time to read" or "wish I had time for that" and I'm like I DON'T HAVE THE TIME lol like you said I'm out here stealing time and I'm genuinely so addicted to reading that I'd rather read than scroll on social media or watch netflix but it's still entertainment I'm just switching out one kind of entertainment for another
here’s a mini guide: 1) 2:48 read books you actually want to read and that actually interest you! 2) 5:13 read books on your phone, kindle, ipad, etc instead of physical books (& read while you use the bathroom) 3) 7:16 read on your laptop (during class) aka steal time instead of making it 4) 8:40 listen to audiobooks

Whatever schlock Booktok slings goes down a lot smoother than the, say, a Sinclair Lewis novel.
I calculated that if I read 3 pages every time i go to the bathroom, and i go to the bathroom 5 times a day (more if i drink too much tea), it's 15 pages a day. So you can read a 300 pages book in 20 days or a 450 pages book in a month. This means you can actually read easilly 12 books a year just by going to the bathroom. 🤣
Read when you are travelling. I have my school 20 minutes away. So i spent 40 minutes reading. I have actually started to romanticise reading at 6:30 a.m with full windows down and the chilly wind whipping my face. I am usually the first one to arrive at campus, so I read a lot before my class. I read after my classes are finished. I actually watch movies in my free time, but i do like to read a few pages side by side. At the library, I give myself a goal. For example, after learning this topic, i will read a chapter of my book.

As an md/phd student who also reads about 100 books a year these tips are so real! I actually can't remember the last time I read a full book physically bc even if I own a physical copy I will still borrow it on Libby just so I can have it on my kindle & phone. The only tip here I haven't done myself is tip 3 only bc we go through modules so quickly in med school that we're testing multiple times a week & I literally cannot afford to not pay attention for even just a millisecond in class if I don't wanna fall behind. So, I just reward myself w reading breaks while studying instead 😂
for the first tip, it's not even just people who "wanna seem smart" cause i've seen so many people go read a book cause it's "a must", "everyone else is reading it" etc. and then they slog through 10 tiktok or booktube sensations just cause they feel the fomo :')
Other ideas 1. Read with easy tasks like brushing 2. You can read an actual book if your workout is walking, and not the best idea but I walk and read 3. You don’t have to always engage in the same activity as others, if your friend or partner is watching TV you can sit with them but read 4. Swap activities you’re bored of. For example, if you always talk on the phone or watch TV when eating dinner but there’s no one you want to talk to or nothing you want to watch, swap it for reading. Don’t force yourself because it’s routine.
omigosh you're so real for this! I used to be very much so "anti ebook" and "I love actual paper pages," but then 2020 happened and I couldn't go to the library for like months so I had to read e-books on Libby and I grew to really like them! It's not even that much different for me at this point: set the view to sepia and you might as well be reading a real book lol. it's just SO convenient being able to read on my phone/laptop. I get so much reading done on my commute to uni or in between classes. I know for me, I have to read before bed to fall asleep so that's where I steal time as well. Audiobooks are one thing I haven't gotten into but I actually checked out one recently so let's see how it goes :) anyways, 100 books as a grad student is crazy so props to you girl
3:24 THIS. Last year I didn't read like a single book bc this was my exact problem - I thought of it as something that I needed to do, books required for school for example. This year this completely changed when I realized reading is literally just fun (the irony is I had this breakthrough while reading Shakespeare for school 💀 and I'm not even a particular fan of classics). Like I genuinely started thinking of reading as equal to watching a TV show. And now it's something I look forward to and have read 20 books this year (nothing compared to 80 but it's progress alright). Mindset is key.
new Sunny vid LESSSSSS GOOOOOOO okay first tip is so real mfs just read cause others say they should, read some fun shi have fun like soon as i started reading fanasty and romance instead of sum george orwell it just hit me why people read like no shade to Mr. Orwell but i wanna read about two men kissing and the Kindle changed my life its so much easier
I’ve read 75 books his year and my methods are nearly identical, as a full time student I have no time, but I squeeze in the reading. I mean, we all also scroll for hours when we “have no time”, so I try and switch that out for reading. And I also use library apps on my phone to borrow books so I don’t have to buy them or commit to books I don’t end up liking.
This is such great advice. I got my degree in English and was so miffed as to why reading all those classics felt like a chore to me. Now I've rediscovered my love of fantasy and reading is my favorite hobby!! Can't stress enough to not worry about what you *should* be reading or whatever. You should be reading what gets you psyched!
I started listening to audiobooks to improve my auditory comprehension! Same with reading digitally at the start, I just didn’t have the same attention span as I did for physical books. I started with contemporary and YA, but now can read non-fiction and complex fantasy on audio too! Plus, I feel like it made a huge difference in my digital reading comprehension for online textbooks and the amount I could remember from listening to a lecture❤
One tip that has helped me read a lot is to use Libby since you can see how many people are waiting after you and the people pleaser in me will not let those people wait the full 21 days (I read Jade City in like 2 days because 7 people were waiting) so basically just become a people pleaser one tip I have for people who want to get into classics though is to just read romances like Jane Austens works because it’s honestly peak escapism or just reading female authors works in general like the Brontë sisters or Mary Shelley :) Plus classics are free which is great in this economy 😅 But if they don’t work for you it’s fine to just move on since life is too short (crime and punishment was too boring so I just put it down)
@@doro.tea66 A bit late, but you can usually find pdfs online, and they don't get taken down cos the books are in the public domain. (eg I just googled 'pride and prejudice pdf' and the first result was a full pdf ebook from project gutenberg) Hope this helps! :)
I love Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice! Also I agree with you on reading female authors work if you want to read classics, a lot of them (like A little princess, Little women, Wuthering heights, etc. From modern classics I recommend 'The Outsiders' by SE Hinton, which is about young people in gangs) are quite good. For classics written by male authors, I'd say 'The Hobbit' is quite good if you don't want to read 'The lord of the rings' trilogy, Winnie the Pooh, The Wind in the Willows and The Little Prince are all good books to read (if you want to read a classic book now and then). While you may have disliked Crime and Punishment, I honestly loved it for what it was. I thought it was interesting to be in the head of someone who did something that messed up. Also some of the characters were fun to read about! But, I will say not everyone would like it, since it is super long and depending on what you read you may not like this book.
So basically, you are the book goddess; can find the perfect books to obsess over. I used to be amazing at picking books that I will love. This year has not been my year; i've only found a handful of books that I generally liked, a couple I was obsessed with.
THANK👏YOU👏. Im a full-time student, do horse riding 4 times a week, work 3 times a week and STILL read 2-3 Novels and i feel so offended when people say “oh, wish i could so that but Im just too busy”, like Im more busy than any one i know!
I started audio book this year but it’s hard for me (more than paper books). With my anxiety and concentration issues, I often daydream and get lost in my thoughts, but it’s a really great way to consume books ! For now, I’ve read 40books this year, which is a lot imo. I have other hobbies and I also enjoy chilling while doing nothing.
Get books that have the whispersync capabilities that way u can read and listen simultaneously. I have ADHD and that’s the best way for me to consume books.
I'll never understand people who don't like audiobooks. I loved being read to as a kid, so it's kinda like adult storytime. I also find that listening to an audiobook and reading along to an ebook makes me go through books faster.
I tried to test out a couple audiobooks for fantasy books i've been wanting to read and i'm sooo particular about the narrator's voice and had to stop each of the 3 I tried. 😭 I'll still attempt them with each new book I start to see if any click for me but that's MY personal issue with a lot of them, at least! 🥲
I started audio book this year but as someone who have a lot of anxiety and concentration issues, it’s really hard to focus on the audio book. When I’m reading, I’m active, because my eyes are moving and I have to turn the pages, but when I’m listening to an audio book, i have too much thoughts and daydream a lot, it’s harder to get back to the audio and I often realize that I stopped listening to the story for a while. So yea, we all have our reasons.
thank you so much for this, all these tips are useful (although I can't read in class or I will fail lol), but especially so as I didn't realise until now you could get ebooks and audiobooks from the library! I love libraries but mine's a long walk away so to be able to read books on my phone for free or listen to them for free is literally a huge gamechanger!
I “steal” time too lol Audio books when I’m doing literally anything Reading on my laptop and phone Reading anytime I have to travel anywhere Reading even though I only have like a 10 minute break at something It counts in the end:)
Yes! Im a full time student, full time stay at home mom with a toddler, and audiobooks and my kindle are lifesavers. Audiobooks while doing chores and cooking, kindle in the cracks of time. Im also not a book elitist, i just dont have the time for that nonsense. Also Libby is where it's at!
Listening to audiobooks has helped me so much cause i get to listen to them while im working on my crochet orders, and so i get to finish a book and make money at the same time
I love the phrase “low maintenance reader” cause like that’s me. The only problem is that I want to build a library, so sometimes I read the book on my phone or kindle and still buy the physical book to have on my shelf lol
Reading on the go is so much fun and beneficial and speeds you up. I used to find a calm quiet place to then sit down and read which most of the time needed lots of efforts. Now I read while I’m on taxi, bus, in the toilet/ while having a bath, while I wait for my doctors appointment, and any other place that I will be just sitting using my phone otherwise.
Ironically, the only book I didn’t finish this year was a physical book!!! Having to get up and get the book and read it is a total barrier for me (also I have ADHD lol so if things have barriers it’s very hard) but I always have my phone with me, so since I’ve accepted that I read much more on my phone than physical copies, I’ve been reading soooo much more
Big fan of audiobooks and reading on the toilet! I also try to bring a book with me when I'm out and about (for waiting rooms and long lines) and I read when I eat meals alone. I used to study or watch videos while i ate but reading makes me enjoy the meal more :)
Hard agree on the reading in class ! I study English Linguistics and Literature and I have several classes where presence is mandatory but the grade is based on a short paper based on ONE topic covered in ONE double-session. So by the beginning of the semester I choose my prefered topic, pay attention during that class and for the rest of the semester I sit there and either do work for other classes or read on my iPad. Uni is great but I absolutely have to choose where to invest my energy.
I have no time to read but I do it anyway. This is not a flex it’s a cry for help. 😅I clicked on this video to see if she would give me ideas on how to steal more time for reading 📖. I’m going to try audio books again so I can do stuff and manage my addiction. Hopefully this time it sticks 🤞🏼
I love this video! I feel like school makes it so hard to find time to read, but Sunny has convinced me it is indeed possible 🥰. I related so much to the part about rotating between audio books, podcasts, and music. Sunny is speaking the truth and I’m here for it. If she says to have a kindle book and a bathroom book, then that’s what we’ve got to do 💁🏻♀️ thank you for these amazing tips!
These are great tips! I’m also a grad student and working two jobs and UA-cam channel lolllll. I listen to a ton of audiobooks while i drive or multi-task. I also don’t really watch tv or movies and instead use that time for reading. I read before bed and any little time in between, even if its just a few minutes of reading an ebook. But it adds up!!
YOU’RE A LIFE SAVER. I’m starting grad school this year while working & I have so much reading to do & I’m doing fairly well but I need to read more. So far I’ve learned audio books are your best friend,
When i had my internship this year i would listen to audio books the whole day and i got through so many books. It was full time so i finished like 3 books aweek.
Wow, I love this so much!!! I'm also a grad student, researching, and working but still have read almost 30 books this year! I always try to make room for the activities I enjoy like the gym and reading :')
This was so funny 😂 i totally agree on audiobooks. I never thought I'd like them. Then i got used to listening to podcasts, went from there to non fiction and memoir audiobooks, then just started trying all sorts and now it feels normal
"reading books is like watching netflix" omg yes please someone say it, so there's this misconception about reading books that it's a hustle, but in reality books are a medium in which way some consume content, educational books or non-fiction book are alike tutorials/video essays/edu videos/ documentaries, while reading fiction is just like watching a tv show/movie, I think it's largely a matter of preference in which way you want to consume stuff and which way works best for you I do also agree that as you said, if you find the right book you will read it, you will find the time, you will squeeze your reading periods within the few leisure minutes you have throughout the day, and feel even more fulfilled
imo reading is far more phenomenal in itself than watching movies (for myself), and when you are a reader, a good book will probably take you to read as much time as watching the show let's say, so in fact reading does get more convenient time efficiency wise. I read like 100-150 books yearly and people usually think I don't have much to do, or I don't go enough social events/meetings, but in reality it's just finding an opportunity to read at some possible times
Real talk, reading an ebook on my laptop screen while I was at my previous job when I had nothing to do was SUCH a game changer both for my reading numbers and my mood! (and then I was motivated enough to look for a new job as well!!)
Omg, a fellow Toronto grad student booktuber! I'm at York 😊 Such a great point that people read for elitism instead of plain old love for the book. I'm so guilty of this and it totally reduces the amount I read.
i swear this is the best video on this i've seen, Sunny. i also just cannot for the life of me schedule reading in because my days look so different every time with uni work. i wholeheartedly agree with all of your tips tho! i just need to be better at implementing them (i have at one point or another, i've just been bad at it this year). i also struggle with the first tip because my main genre is adult high fantasy and those books tend to take a while to get going but are the ones that fulfill me the most upon finishing. but i need to start being honest with myself and leave those for when i actually have time and pick up my romances in the meantime 😌
Stealing time is so real! I read during bus rides, in between breaks of TV shows, before dinner and before bed, and I do audiobooks when I’m trying to sleep
I was someone that didn’t really like audiobooks that much. Then I found audio dramas. I listened to a couple of those and I was hooked. I then started listening to both audio dramas and audiobooks and borrowing them from the library like a kid in a candy store.
Yup! I’ve read most of my books the last few years AT WORK on my laptop! I still work but there’s always little moments in there to read. I recently got a kindle and it’s so so so motivating to see how much time left is in each chapter
I’m getting a master’s in something education-related and it is pretty crazy the amount of work they require of you as a grad student vs undergrad. Can’t even imagine with a program like yours @.@
Thank you! Also this is why I DNF all the books I dont like rather than force myself through them. I want to want to reach for them. The intrinsic motivation to read is so important!
I just read They Call Her Sofia by Doris Ladino and I loved it! It’s a romance book about healing and finding self love after being betrayed and manipulated. It’s sweet and spicy. The audiobook is very entertaining and easy to listen to. Overall , It’s a feel good book and fast read. Enjoy!
Actually practical tips we love to see it! For me it’s the same, I don’t have any time to schedule for reading and even if, let’s be honest I’m not gonna read. Another tip: I take public transport for 1 hour every day. AT LEAST, on most days even more (I’m from Berlin, Germany), and most of my reading is there. Then also if you use Libby and have library audiobooks and ebooks , sometimes your library will have the ebook and the audiobook available. READ HYBRID!! I tend to get uneasy reading one book, so I either change to a different book and finish the other one later or I borrow the audiobook and the ebook and switch how I read. This helps so much! Also for my ADHD pals, set your audiobook to 1,5 to 2 times speed. This was what made me finally get into audiobooks.
my life is getting busier and busier as the days go along, especially this year however, I've ramped up my reading to at least 5-6 books a month. the way I've gone about it is to just read wherever I can. i take my book to the supermarket, everywhere basically. even if I read 2 pages a day at times, I think it's productvie
This is me to a tee lol. I wish I could romanticize reading phsycial books on a park bench or something but I don't have the time! I started reading e-books a decade ago and haven't stopped but then when life got busy, I dipped my toe into Audiobooks and I fell in love because now I get to listen to it on my commutes, at the gym, even during work (ope 🤫) . I get through way more books that I actually want to read, not the ones that I get embarrassed about reading in front of people lmao
I 100% have done all these and they definitely work. Especially the reading on my phone one... I go to conferences all the time and if they're not interesting, I just continue reading on my Kindle app on my phone and read a ton that way
Hi! This advices are SO GOOD. Omg. I will always say that you read much better in a digital way, like an ereader, o audiobook… for me at least. This year I read like… 16 books, and I have more free time than you have, but I have like 20 books not finished. And have not listened to an audiobook for a whole year. But I don’t have the motivation, I need to find it. Should get a bathroom, a gym and a class book 100% (I work in a library, so in this case I have all physical books). Also, I love your background with Friends and Rory Gilmore/Girls posters, I think I’m gonna subscribe right now 😃
I can 100% vouch on audiobooks! Getting into audiobooks is the best decision I've done this year. I've practically read almost double the number of books that I did this time last year because now I rotate between physical, ebook, and audiobook. Audiobook is a gamechanger because I can do it while doing mundane chores or when I'm on the road!I must say though, the audiobook narrator can make or break a book for you. I've read audiobooks with good stories but I just didn't vibe with the narrator's voice. Others have such INCREDIBLE narrators that I was willing to sit through them voicing the most annoying or unlikeable characters ever.
Love audiobooks, so great for multitasking. Not sure about the bathroom book idea though, but I guess leaving your audio book on while in there counts! lol
A very easy way to read hundreds of books a year would be to embrace Manga/Manhwa/Graphic Novels. Yes the price may be huge on a physical front but there are a lot of apps/sites for reading comic book related material. In fact it wouldn’t be a massive challenge to read 365 books a year.
Hmm but it’s not a competition, is it ? Read mangas because you want to, not because you want to say « I’ve read 100 books » there’s no price to win by reading this much 😅 I don’t think the number of books we read is important, it’s more about making the time to read instead of scrolling on social media etc
@@Solip_i I don’t in anyway disagree but with a video titled to talk about reading more I was just pointing out a way of doing it. I do believe in quality over quantity but as a reader of many genres and types the more you can read the more chance you will have of finding more stories to love.
The first two tips are really important indeed !! And are not the obvious tips people share on the topic so they get overlooked!! --- I'm also guilty of overlooking the first one sometime 😅oops
How many of these 100 books do you remember well? I'm just curious about this. Because I have listened to audiobooks and while I get the plot, I usually miss a lot else. Sometimes I even forget entire scenes and character names. Unlike books I read physically 🙃
I was so surprised when you said you go to UofT for Speech Language Pathology! I go to UofT but for undergraduate linguistics and am hoping for the same career! Best of luck and thank you for the video
I've always been a physical book only kinda girl, until earlier this year i realised how hard it is to actually carry round a physical book (especially thick ones!) and trying to read a physical book in different positions is so awkward. I got an ereader less than 2 months ago and I've already read more in that 2 months than i had the previous 9 months. Life changing, honestly.
Wait on the topic of your soulmate dream….I have also had one of those!! I’ve never been in a relationship before but in my dream I was walking down the isle to marry someone I’d never seen before in real life, but could see his face clearly. When I looked at him I felt overwhelming love and waking up I was so at peace. I’m wondering if your experience was similar? I haven’t talked to anyone else who’s had the same thing happen to them!
I pretty much only read non-fictions, and if I want to read fiction, I read memoirs lol so I feel like even though I can read fast and over 100 books a year, I dont retain the info, and need to slow down to 50-60 books a year for it to stick in my brain in the long run.
I knew you was a busy gal, but THIS busy!? OMG how do you manage to exist!?😊 You and your parents must be so proud of you(rself) hey!? Here I only just started working this year😅 and can barely breath lmfao

if I read on my phone I mostly read on wattpad and I'm now wanting to start adding wattpad books to my read list too bc they are real books, yk? wattpad I can use on my school ipad too, so that's very convenient too (also webtoon, but I prefer wattpad for now)
I don’t feel "cant eat/ sleep" about my books because I have ADHD and I either hyperfixate on something to the point where it prevents me from functioning (not in a good way) or I can't stay on task to save my life. 40 books a year is my current situation, not because I don't like my books, but because I can't focus for very long on reading for the life of me, except a few times a year. I have to take a 1-2 hour break every 30-60 minutes or I will not focus no matter how amazing the book is.
Okay i just found your channel and i'm already in love 😍 Literally this year audiobooks saved my reading life cause i'm in reading slump🤧Also i thought i;m the only person that reads in the bathroom 😅

Audiobooks are one thing I haven't gotten into but I actually checked out one recently so let's see how it goes :) anyways, 100 books as a grad student is crazy so props to you girl
I love libby, I do that and get library physical books when I can
I was also anti ebook until 2020!! Got a kindle and never ever looked back 😎😎
YESSS
new Sunny vid LESSSSSS GOOOOOOO
okay first tip is so real mfs just read cause others say they should, read some fun shi have fun like soon as i started reading fanasty and romance instead of sum george orwell it just hit me why people read like no shade to Mr. Orwell but i wanna read about two men kissing and the Kindle changed my life its so much easier
BAHAHAH
I’ve read 75 books his year and my methods are nearly identical, as a full time student I have no time, but I squeeze in the reading. I mean, we all also scroll for hours when we “have no time”, so I try and switch that out for reading. And I also use library apps on my phone to borrow books so I don’t have to buy them or commit to books I don’t end up liking.
Yes exactly
Period
One tip that has helped me read a lot is to use Libby since you can see how many people are waiting after you and the people pleaser in me will not let those people wait the full 21 days (I read Jade City in like 2 days because 7 people were waiting) so basically just become a people pleaser
one tip I have for people who want to get into classics though is to just read romances like Jane Austens works because it’s honestly peak escapism or just reading female authors works in general like the Brontë sisters or Mary Shelley :)
Plus classics are free which is great in this economy 😅
But if they don’t work for you it’s fine to just move on since life is too short (crime and punishment was too boring so I just put it down)
Not the ppl pleasing 💀
How are classics free? Were to I get them for free? Do you have any Jane Austen Book which you would recommend?
@@doro.tea66 Wattpad also has manyyyyyyy classics for free
So basically, you are the book goddess; can find the perfect books to obsess over. I used to be amazing at picking books that I will love. This year has not been my year; i've only found a handful of books that I generally liked, a couple I was obsessed with.
Love u
THANK👏YOU👏. Im a full-time student, do horse riding 4 times a week, work 3 times a week and STILL read 2-3 Novels and i feel so offended when people say “oh, wish i could so that but Im just too busy”, like Im more busy than any one i know!
Period
I started audio book this year but it’s hard for me (more than paper books).
With my anxiety and concentration issues, I often daydream and get lost in my thoughts, but it’s a really great way to consume books !
For now, I’ve read 40books this year, which is a lot imo.
I have other hobbies and I also enjoy chilling while doing nothing.
I understand
Get books that have the whispersync capabilities that way u can read and listen simultaneously. I have ADHD and that’s the best way for me to consume books.
I'll never understand people who don't like audiobooks. I loved being read to as a kid, so it's kinda like adult storytime.
I also find that listening to an audiobook and reading along to an ebook makes me go through books faster.
Yes!!
I tried to test out a couple audiobooks for fantasy books i've been wanting to read and i'm sooo particular about the narrator's voice and had to stop each of the 3 I tried. 😭
I'll still attempt them with each new book I start to see if any click for me but that's MY personal issue with a lot of them, at least! 🥲
Listening and reading along is a game changer!!!
So yea, we all have our reasons.
well i hated being read to as a kid so i guess that explains why i’m not the biggest fan of audiobooks 😭
thank you so much for this, all these tips are useful (although I can't read in class or I will fail lol), but especially so as I didn't realise until now you could get ebooks and audiobooks from the library! I love libraries but mine's a long walk away so to be able to read books on my phone for free or listen to them for free is literally a huge gamechanger!
I “steal” time too lol
Audio books when I’m doing literally anything
Reading on my laptop and phone
Reading anytime I have to travel anywhere
Reading even though I only have like a 10 minute break at something
It counts in the end:)
Me
Listening to audiobooks has helped me so much cause i get to listen to them while im working on my crochet orders, and so i get to finish a book and make money at the same time
I LOVE CROCHETERS
I love the phrase “low maintenance reader” cause like that’s me. The only problem is that I want to build a library, so sometimes I read the book on my phone or kindle and still buy the physical book to have on my shelf lol
Mmmmm dilemma
Reading on the go is so much fun and beneficial and speeds you up. I used to find a calm quiet place to then sit down and read which most of the time needed lots of efforts. Now I read while I’m on taxi, bus, in the toilet/ while having a bath, while I wait for my doctors appointment, and any other place that I will be just sitting using my phone otherwise.
I just take out my literal e-reader in class and hide it behind my laptop
I'm not giving up that valuable reading time😌
Omg I do that too
Ironically, the only book I didn’t finish this year was a physical book!!!
I agree with all these!!! Will also add Libby as a resource for reading ebooks from library!!!
yes slay
Hard agree on the reading in class ! I study English Linguistics and Literature and I have several classes where presence is mandatory but the grade is based on a short paper based on ONE topic covered in ONE double-session. So by the beginning of the semester I choose my prefered topic, pay attention during that class and for the rest of the semester I sit there and either do work for other classes or read on my iPad. Uni is great but I absolutely have to choose where to invest my energy.
Slay
I have no time to read but I do it anyway. This is not a flex it’s a cry for help. 😅I clicked on this video to see if she would give me ideas on how to steal more time for reading 📖. I’m going to try audio books again so I can do stuff and manage my addiction. Hopefully this time it sticks 🤞🏼
Bahahah
I love this video! I feel like school makes it so hard to find time to read, but Sunny has convinced me it is indeed possible 🥰. I related so much to the part about rotating between audio books, podcasts, and music. Sunny is speaking the truth and I’m here for it. If she says to have a kindle book and a bathroom book, then that’s what we’ve got to do 💁🏻♀️ thank you for these amazing tips!
period
These are great tips! I’m also a grad student and working two jobs and UA-cam channel lolllll. I listen to a ton of audiobooks while i drive or multi-task. I also don’t really watch tv or movies and instead use that time for reading. I read before bed and any little time in between, even if its just a few minutes of reading an ebook. But it adds up!!
YES
YOU’RE A LIFE SAVER. I’m starting grad school this year while working & I have so much reading to do & I’m doing fairly well but I need to read more. So far I’ve learned audio books are your best friend,
Omggg it makes so much sense just from the first tip I’m already rearranging the books I actually wanna read 😭
Period
When i had my internship this year i would listen to audio books the whole day and i got through so many books. It was full time so i finished like 3 books aweek.
Big slay
Wow, I love this so much!!! I'm also a grad student, researching, and working but still have read almost 30 books this year! I always try to make room for the activities I enjoy like the gym and reading :')
PERIOD
This was so funny 😂 i totally agree on audiobooks. I never thought I'd like them. Then i got used to listening to podcasts, went from there to non fiction and memoir audiobooks, then just started trying all sorts and now it feels normal
Yes
The best advice I was ever given is to give your energy where you want to thrive. Love these ideas!
"reading books is like watching netflix" omg yes please someone say it, so there's this misconception about reading books that it's a hustle, but in reality books are a medium in which way some consume content, educational books or non-fiction book are alike tutorials/video essays/edu videos/ documentaries, while reading fiction is just like watching a tv show/movie, I think it's largely a matter of preference in which way you want to consume stuff and which way works best for you
I do also agree that as you said, if you find the right book you will read it, you will find the time, you will squeeze your reading periods within the few leisure minutes you have throughout the day, and feel even more fulfilled
imo reading is far more phenomenal in itself than watching movies (for myself), and when you are a reader, a good book will probably take you to read as much time as watching the show let's say, so in fact reading does get more convenient time efficiency wise.
I read like 100-150 books yearly and people usually think I don't have much to do, or I don't go enough social events/meetings, but in reality it's just finding an opportunity to read at some possible times
yes its literally for fun - not that deep : D
gurl those tips are SO GOOD, thank you for your service
AAWH THANK U
Ok I have a night book and a commute book and a weekend day book but I obviously need to add a bathroom book into the rotation! Great video!
Thank u!!
I STAND BY HER --- I'VE DONE LITERALLY ALL THE THINGS SHE JUST MENTIONED SINCE LIKE I WAS THIRTEEN
Queen Sunny just keeps on giving♥️
Love u
i swear this is the best video on this i've seen, Sunny. i also just cannot for the life of me schedule reading in because my days look so different every time with uni work. i wholeheartedly agree with all of your tips tho! i just need to be better at implementing them (i have at one point or another, i've just been bad at it this year). i also struggle with the first tip because my main genre is adult high fantasy and those books tend to take a while to get going but are the ones that fulfill me the most upon finishing. but i need to start being honest with myself and leave those for when i actually have time and pick up my romances in the meantime 😌
AAWH ILY
Stealing time is so real! I read during bus rides, in between breaks of TV shows, before dinner and before bed, and I do audiobooks when I’m trying to sleep
Yes
I was someone that didn’t really like audiobooks that much. Then I found audio dramas. I listened to a couple of those and I was hooked. I then started listening to both audio dramas and audiobooks and borrowing them from the library like a kid in a candy store.
Yup! I’ve read most of my books the last few years AT WORK on my laptop! I still work but there’s always little moments in there to read. I recently got a kindle and it’s so so so motivating to see how much time left is in each chapter
YES SLAY
This was what made me finally get into audiobooks.
finally a fresh take on how to read more
my life is getting busier and busier as the days go along, especially this year
however, I've ramped up my reading to at least 5-6 books a month. the way I've gone about it is to just read wherever I can. i take my book to the supermarket, everywhere basically. even if I read 2 pages a day at times, I think it's productvie
Step one is to be in your challenge era.😂😂 Lova ya Sunny 😊😊
You’re right
This is me to a tee lol.
Also, I love your background with Friends and Rory Gilmore/Girls posters, I think I’m gonna subscribe right now 😃
AWWH THANK U
The best thing for me in reading was reading on my commute on public transit even if I didn't feel like I had any other time
Yes i do that too
@@sunnykimreads may possibly meet my Goodreads goal because it takes me an hour to get to class lol
Period
i haven't ever tried audiobooks
can you recommend any free apps for audiobooks?
Love audiobooks, so great for multitasking. Not sure about the bathroom book idea though, but I guess leaving your audio book on while in there counts! lol
A very easy way to read hundreds of books a year would be to embrace Manga/Manhwa/Graphic Novels. Yes the price may be huge on a physical front but there are a lot of apps/sites for reading comic book related material. In fact it wouldn’t be a massive challenge to read 365 books a year.
MMM INTEREST
Hmm but it’s not a competition, is it ?
Read mangas because you want to, not because you want to say « I’ve read 100 books » there’s no price to win by reading this much 😅
I don’t think the number of books we read is important, it’s more about making the time to read instead of scrolling on social media etc
@@Solip_i I don’t in anyway disagree but with a video titled to talk about reading more I was just pointing out a way of doing it. I do believe in quality over quantity but as a reader of many genres and types the more you can read the more chance you will have of finding more stories to love.
✨Immersion reading✨

The first two tips are really important indeed !! And are not the obvious tips people share on the topic so they get overlooked!! --- I'm also guilty of overlooking the first one sometime 😅oops
its okay it happens to the best of us
How many of these 100 books do you remember well? I'm just curious about this. Because I have listened to audiobooks and while I get the plot, I usually miss a lot else. Sometimes I even forget entire scenes and character names. Unlike books I read physically 🙃
Not a lot !
this is exceptionally helpful. you are the best youtuber out there. THANK YOU
AWWH THANK U
Yes, you should read books you enjoy!
Yes!!
I was so surprised when you said you go to UofT for Speech Language Pathology! I go to UofT but for undergraduate linguistics and am hoping for the same career! Best of luck and thank you for the video
OH GOOD LUCK!!!!
Yess, my internet bestie posted🫶🏼

I've always been a physical book only kinda girl, until earlier this year i realised how hard it is to actually carry round a physical book (especially thick ones!) and trying to read a physical book in different positions is so awkward. I got an ereader less than 2 months ago and I've already read more in that 2 months than i had the previous 9 months. Life changing, honestly.
bless you, Sunny. You and your first tip will change my life ahah❤

YES. Overwhelming peace. Is this a rite of passage or smth 😀
@@sunnykimreadsomg so crazy! I’ve just called it a prophetic dream for years because I hope it comes true. I hope the same for you!!

Oh same ofc
Agree with the phone reading.
Yes
Having to go to such lengths to get in a few minutes of reading kinda shows you why so few people read nowadays…
Worth it
I pretty much only read non-fictions, and if I want to read fiction, I read memoirs lol so I feel like even though I can read fast and over 100 books a year, I dont retain the info, and need to slow down to 50-60 books a year for it to stick in my brain in the long run.

if I read on my phone I mostly read on wattpad and I'm now wanting to start adding wattpad books to my read list too bc they are real books, yk?
wattpad I can use on my school ipad too, so that's very convenient too (also webtoon, but I prefer wattpad for now)

I have to take a 1-2 hour break every 30-60 minutes or I will not focus no matter how amazing the book is.
thx you make me want to read more!!

other thing i do that applies great to this video: STOP scheduling your monthly books if ur a mood reader, it just makes it more of a chore!!
