Hello everyone and welcome to another cozy reading vlog! This one actually features my first DNF of 2022 👀
I tried, initially, to film this reading vlog weeks ago, but I kept wanting to finish The Lies of Locke Lamora first (or at least get a bit further into the book). However, as you can see from the vlog, that was not a think that ended up happening hahah.
Hope you all enjoy this cozy weekend reading vlog ! Take care everyone 💛

My Book - A Year In Tokyo: An Illustrated Guide and Memoir ✨ bit.ly/3CjjBTz
I once heard someone switch DNF to DFN (down for now) and I really enjoy that distinction. I’m a mood reader; Some books I will DNF and know it’s unlikely that I will ever pick them up again. While some books I will put down (for now) knowing I will come back to them eventually 😊
I also struggled reading The Lies of Locke Lamora. I feel you! I pushed through though and finished it because I had heard such good things….but honestly by the end I still didn’t like it and wished I had just DNF’d it. If you don’t like the writing style, it doesn’t get any better by the end, so maybe your instincts to put it down are right! It’s always hard though…
Nooo 😭 I'll see how I go....... I'm still just hoping it's me that's the problem hahaha
The Lies of Locke Lamora never gripped me either. I DNF’d it. I found myself not caring about the characters at all 🤷🏼♀️ can’t win them all
Oh my gosh, 20,000 leagues under the sea is my favorite classic book! I wish I could reread it for the first time. Reading it feels like diving in the deep sea, no kidding. 😁🥰
I loved that book, too. I remember the summer I got it. My mom wanted me to be reading more; we went into Barnes and Noble, and told me to pick out a classic book. I picked out 'Robinson Crusoe' and 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea'. Such a fun book!
Even though you had to put the book down, the vlog was still so great to watch. Your reading vlogs are my favourite 😊📖
Thank you so much! 😊💛💛💛
I love my Sunday nights - when I can watch your videos before going to sleep.
😊💛
Same! And always with a cup of tea.
you should do a video on your favourite japanese recipies!
Your vlog is awesome 👌
Your reading vlogs are such a comfort. ♥️
Thank you so much for watching them! 💛
That's also why I DNF-ed priory of the orange tree but I plan to read it eventually (it's just quite intimidating and a clear commitment haha)
I literally look forward to Sunday for your videos, thank you so much for your lovely content ♥️
thank you so, so much for being here! 💛💛
@@christy-anne-jones always ✨
Youuuuuu are the cutest Christy💝🤗 and my favourite person,i love love your vlogs . I hope your busy schedule will be at ease and you could post many many videos 💛💛
Thank you so much! 😊💛💛
Your voice is so soothing! I'm glad I found you, and from Australia too
I think Locke Lamora took me 3 months to read. I put it down at the start too but after I finished it, it became my all-time favourite fantasy book. Scott Lynch is spectacularly good at writing.
I'm looking forward to picking it up again soon! 💛
The same thing happened to me with The Lies of Locke Lamora! Glad I´m not the only one
To each their own!! I read the lies of Locke lamora when I was going through a reading slump.. And I loved it..
Lies of Locke Lamora took me a long time to read as well, I had to switch to audiobook format which helped quite a bit. Atlas Six I DNFd out of boredom haha. Cute vlog!
I appreciate your use of word count instead of page numbers. 🤞🏼🙏🏼❤️
Bit of a random comment but I really love your pom pom style cardigan in the last clip! 🥰
I struggled with Lies of Locke Lamora as well, DNFd the second book only to go back to it year later and ended up really liking it and kind of loved the third one. Idk maybe a Stockholm syndrome but now I am a fan. However I felt the writing sometimes very depressing and it dragged it down for me. Hard to explain it’s like that ominous energy Yukio Mishima has in his books. Idk if I am making sense…
Just found you and love your commentary, absolutely an instant subscriber!
thank you so much 😊💛
"20000 lieues sous les mers " is one of my favourite book !!! It should be your next one
I want to read it soon! 💛
Been a big fan of your videos for awhile now. Just puts me in such an easygoing, good mood. I had to support by subscribing on Patreon! Keep up the great work!
That's so kind of you!! Thank you so so much 💛
I love books
I love this
I DNF'd The Atlas Six. Absolutely hate how the characters were so antagonistic with each other for now apparent reason 😭😆
Happy weekend in advance
Knowing is power
I also struggled while reading it. But somehow locke lamora is still my number 1.
loved your vlogs....gives me soo much inspiration for reading books..... Love from 🇮🇳 India.....❤️
I've read The Lies of Locke Lamora, and the second book in the Gentleman Bastard series, Red Seas Under Red Skies. I enjoyed the second one much more. It was really adventurous and fun (also - PIRATES!!).
You know how in some fantasy worlds you can place yourself within the world and think "I'd like to live in the Shire" for example. I think I felt a little bit distanced from TLOLL at first because my internal instinct was to flee; it wasn't a world I'd like to be in. I struggle with things that are somewhat mafia-esque and some of the graphic violent scenes in this book were scenes I wish I could unsee in my mind.
Because of that dark element, I think it would be cool to see the animators of Arcane visually create TLOLL world in animation.
However, I did get into this book. There are quite a lot of funny bits in this book, maybe darkly funny, but funny. The hanging onto the lattice outside the window scene... You'll know what I mean when you get to it. I laughed out loud, anyway.
Paco Roca is amazing!
Can't blame you for the DNF. I think it was over the halfway point on LoLL before I got hooked. The second book in the series was much faster, at least.
I didn’t like lies of lock lamora 😭 I tried but just couldn’t get into it. And it seems like something I would love but I just couldn’t do it.
I highly recommend listening to the audiobook for The Lies of Locke Lamora. It's really good & it allowed me to get through the book much faster/easier than if I had read it physically.
Oh that's a great recommendation! Thank you so much 💛
Lots of Love Christy😘💞
😊💛
I DNF'd Lies of Locke Lamora as well, i just couldnt get into it
yay loved the video as always
Nice 👍 books

Love 💕
Oh my god, I thought something was wrong with me when I just couldn't get past 30 pages of The Lies of Locke Lamora and I've been trying to for 3 months now. So overall it's really hard to get through for a lot of people good to know
Ahhh no I literally just bought lies of Locke lamora and haven’t read it yet. Have you read any Robin Hobb? I feel like her books are the perfect mix of world building and just the most amazing character writing ever - like you were saying at the end of this for Lies and Atlas Six
No yet! Assassin's Apprentice and Ship of Magic are both on my TBR 😊
Good one
Lovely
Great vlog📚😎💯👍🌈☕
good job
Cool
Nice
Nooo, I feel so bad you DNFd The Lies of Locke Lamora, I flew through it and shed lots of tears, it has beautiful friendships. I really hope you’ll be in a good headspace for it soon ☺️
I felt bad for DNFing it too 😭 fingers crossed I can pick it up again soon! I've heard so many good things
👍👍
I am also struggling a lot with the book im reading right now! It’s called The Hound of Rowan (The Tapestry #1) and I’m interested in the story but it’s just so hard for me to want to keep reading it like after 10 minutes of reading each day I just don’t want to anymore 😬 I feel bad though because my friend let me borrow it so I don’t want to dnf it. Has anyone read it?
Totoro ❤
❣️😍
Good
💛🌻
Have you read any Colleen Hoover books?? If yes, which is your favourite??
Hello, dear! What’s DNF? Best wishes from Brazil 💕
DNF stands for "Did not finish" 😊💛
I think books like these will steal away the experience of pleasant reading, idk May be my opinion but I seriously can not enjoy books which is flooded with so many unique / new words per page. I really find it annoying. The author may be completely comfortable in writing flawlessly in that way but it seems peculiar to me in many ways, but I also feel up to an extent that it also does not give much space for author for her creativity, but give space for technicality much.
I keep myself away from those books Thts really annoying in my case, hats off to u for ur Patience.
What is your nationality?
Australian 😊
@@christy-anne-jones 😊😊 thanks for answering
You’re so damn cute
