Honestly, I think a sequel wouldn't work well as with the tech gap with the prawns they are likely to come back and curb stomp the world unless humans are smart and the prawns aren't vindictive, and the humans back away while the prawns pick up their people and the prawns don't lash out as long as they are unmolested. I would be neat to learn more about the prawns backstory, but I don't know whether that would work well as a film.

This one scene is better than everything that transformers has ever put out. I put district 9 up there with the best sci fi movies ever. Moving, powerful, well acted and just pure brilliant.

At some point, a person loses the ability to fear anything and becomes fearless, desperate, or whatever we may call it. At that point, facing danger is becoming exciting and pleasant.

We can have fifty fuckin Marvel and DC capeshit flicks, but Blomkamp never got to do a District 9 sequel. This and Master and Commander will be regarded as true classics of their genre, whose creators were stiffed badly by Hollywood.
I haven’t been to the cinema in years. I don’t care to watch Spider Man 26. A sequel to District 9 would get me to go back.

My all time favorite movie
I think this is one of the most profound sci fi movies that has ever been made. An everyday person wrestling with a changed world. It's all kinds of brilliant.
The moment when he overcomes his fear and egoism and returns to help Christopher is very moving. Despite the fact that this may be partly due to his gradually becoming a "prawn" himself.
When he catches that missile.......bad fucking ass
This is up there with Robocop, 2001, Alien, Bladdrunnr, Forbidden Planet, and probably lots of others I can’t remember at the moment as one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

Freaking love this. The writing in this movie is pretty good. Death is scary as heck and I think99% of people would run like him. But he chose his buddy and gained a heart of gold

Was that Mech a war machine, or like their version of a forklift with a machine gun attached?
Definitely a war mech it showed incoming projectiles and had only the two arms the prawns have extra little arms so you would think a tool mech would have them too but it just has armor, plus all the weapons seem integrated like the shoulder mounted active defense rockets
