6:00 I bought one of those Ryobi ONE+ drills and I must say they are so great. The battery is smaller and lighter than the old NiCd and also lasts what seems like forever longer between charges as well. Unfortunately my Ryobi kit was stolen one day and I replaced it with the new Craftsman drill that comes with the C3 19.2v lithium batteries. In principle, it is the same as what I had, but it seems to me like the C3 batteries are a little longer life than the ONE+ batteries.
I would strongly recommend welding gussets into the upper intercooler mounts, and the lower ones too if they're made of right-angle steel like the upper ones. With the right-angle steel you can get flex where it is bent into the right-angle which will cause vertical vibration in your application and that could cause the mountings on the intercooler and/or the welds on the charge pipes to fracture. Some people might say it's not necessary, but I would say that that's how the brackets would be built if they were being used on a race car to ensure reliability so it certainly would be worth it to ensure the reliability of your Nissan and to prevent premature failure of what is almost certainly and expensive intercooler, as well as potential turbo and engine damage if foreign bodies get ingested...
I have a clip of me standing on top on the intercooler after we installed it, it was welded at 140 amps and full penetration it isn't going anywhere 💪🏽
Hey Kyle I got an idea the for oil to the turbo situation. Put on an external oil cooler just like the Jimmy had but use teflon lined braided steel AN lines instead of rubber. But run the pressure line from the engine through the turbo so the hot oil goes to the oil cooler and the return line has cool oil going back to the engine so the oil lasts longer.
Have you considered a power steering cooler and oil cooler? I'm also building a type x hatch and I'm currently gathering parts for a power steering cooler system
Great content mate, love the attention to detail. I just took receipt of my running RB25(DE) S13 which i'm pretty pumped to get into after watching this :)
So what are your plans for the brake booster/master cylinder? Are you going to fab a metal wedge plate between the manifold and turbo to tilt the turbo to the left towards the valve cover? Or is it something else? I love the attention to detail here, good job!
Thanks buddy! I just ordered a brake booster delete kit from Chase Bays. I got a bunch of stuff from them to just replace as much old stuff as I can with things that are designed to work with the swap. It'll make things a lot cleaner and I think I'll enjoy the feel of the manual brakes more than the boosted setup.
