  • @acoffeewithsatan
    @acoffeewithsatan 5 років тому +3

    That is the sort of cool sponsors! It's a lot nicer to see local companies reaching out to you and helping out in person, than all that Dollar Shave Club, Skillshare crap and others alike who reach to all sorts of random UA-camrs not even related with their business.

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  5 років тому +2

      I know!! I'll admit that I have done those "other" sponsored integrations in the past, but doing things like this is soooo much more natural and it actually HELPS us vs just selling out an ad spot, it makes it so much more worthwhile at the end of the day.

    The quality of this project is just from a another level. I love some other UA-camrs as well, but most of them just seem to want to make good content and not really focus that much on the quality of the work and to the attention of detail. However you do the both really well.

    I would strongly recommend welding gussets into the upper intercooler mounts, and the lower ones too if they're made of right-angle steel like the upper ones. With the right-angle steel you can get flex where it is bent into the right-angle which will cause vertical vibration in your application and that could cause the mountings on the intercooler and/or the welds on the charge pipes to fracture. Some people might say it's not necessary, but I would say that that's how the brackets would be built if they were being used on a race car to ensure reliability so it certainly would be worth it to ensure the reliability of your Nissan and to prevent premature failure of what is almost certainly and expensive intercooler, as well as potential turbo and engine damage if foreign bodies get ingested...

    • @jondillard3777
      @jondillard3777 5 років тому

      I have a clip of me standing on top on the intercooler after we installed it, it was welded at 140 amps and full penetration it isn't going anywhere 💪🏽

    6:00 I bought one of those Ryobi ONE+ drills and I must say they are so great. The battery is smaller and lighter than the old NiCd and also lasts what seems like forever longer between charges as well. Unfortunately my Ryobi kit was stolen one day and I replaced it with the new Craftsman drill that comes with the C3 19.2v lithium batteries. In principle, it is the same as what I had, but it seems to me like the C3 batteries are a little longer life than the ONE+ batteries.

    Hey Kyle I got an idea the for oil to the turbo situation. Put on an external oil cooler just like the Jimmy had but use teflon lined braided steel AN lines instead of rubber. But run the pressure line from the engine through the turbo so the hot oil goes to the oil cooler and the return line has cool oil going back to the engine so the oil lasts longer.

    THIS should have been the THING back in the day, when we surely deserved much better than Pimp my Ride!
    Jay-Z is somewhere with creeps when Kyle is on air.

    So what are your plans for the brake booster/master cylinder? Are you going to fab a metal wedge plate between the manifold and turbo to tilt the turbo to the left towards the valve cover? Or is it something else? I love the attention to detail here, good job!

      Thanks buddy! I just ordered a brake booster delete kit from Chase Bays. I got a bunch of stuff from them to just replace as much old stuff as I can with things that are designed to work with the swap. It'll make things a lot cleaner and I think I'll enjoy the feel of the manual brakes more than the boosted setup.

      @@saabkyle04 Well I can't wait to see the set up soon, it should be really interesting! I haven't ever seen manual brakes on a modern car like this so it will be fascinating to see it all together! Good work

    I have 2 questions: How much HP your engine will give at how much psi? I have a J line model... just wondering, because I can't fit any bigger intercooler. I see that you went from 3" to 2.5" THANK YOU

      Haha thanks dude, you got it! I don't have the Saab anymore, let it go a while back, had no use for it and it was a pain in the butt haha.

      Aw, that's too bad, at least you made some great content with it. Also a great first car story, glad you were able to share your experience with rebuilding your first car.
