NICE CLASSIC CARS. The car at 0:11 - My father had a Ford Mustang with that exact same type of lightbar (except it had all Red Light's with no White Light's) on top of his POV when he was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Boscawen Fire Department here in New Hampshire back in the mid 1970's to mid 1980's.
So many of NYPD's finest from over the years in a lot of film and television alike. West Side Story, The Stone Killer, The Seven Ups, Kojak, Death Wish, Home Alone 2, Ransom, Cop Land, NYPD Blue, Law & Order, and CSI New York. And some of the NYPD police vehicles are in Diecast replicas in the Greenlight collectables.
May seem very valuable now days, but you can imagine how many times those car would often get a dent or shot at from pursuits. Crazy to imagine that its not that valuable and just a ordinary patrol car back then.
in a alien dimension, we cant share videos and because of it these are the police cars still used in NYC, it's always dark and cyber punk and if you break the law, you'll meet one of these bad boys for the first time.
It's a mechanical siren. It has parts that turn. By the late '60s/early '70s, electronic sirens took over because they took up less space and were easier to maintain.
The elegance of an angel, the turning radius of an aircraft carrier lol
But thats still the case for many american cop cars
@@user-ie6jr4bg1w the turning radius, for sure. But don't tell me an Explorer or Tahoe has the elegance of an angel...
I remember when these boats were put on the streets replacing the old color NYPD cars.
ج
@@Eragon2679at least Tahoe is charismatic, unlike Explorer. It's the best police SUV
Why do 80s sirens always sound so good? lol
Electronics
70s Federal Signal like no other
analogue instead of digital
They use electromechanical sirens rather than the shitty electric speakers they use now.

Just imagine these things have beauty running around in the 60s and 70s and even the 80s
yeah i'd get arrested on purpose just to experience being in one of those
the car, the sirens, the blue and the els look very nice
0:07 Isn't that a Federal Signal siren mounted on that car?
Waiting for the hill steet blues theme tune to play.
All of my vintage favorites in one place. Nice.
Both of them looking cool!
The first police car and the second police car is cool!
NYC should always be doing things like this. Honoring and looking after our history is important. 😎🙌
HIs trunk wasnt locked
its literally so weird that the old police cars had fire truck sirens
So cool. But imagine trying to outrun like a Civic in one of these 😂
Looks like the nypd went through a time portal

that was the police cars when dad was an officer, a slow nonchalant rotating red light.
Who can forget cop car scenes from Hill St blues.
Half of people join the the Police just to drive the cars
I miss these blue cars.
Some point mid 2000's they inverted the colors. Oh now its WHITE and blue, the other way around.
the trunk lock is broken
