OMG please do twilight! I haven’t read it and now that the idea of you reading it is out there I don’t think I’d ever do it without your jokes and discussion.
I remember both myself and another girl were told to cover our shoulders during Young Womens. Ugh. I didnt have the courage but the other girl stood up for herself and said it was too hot to wear a sweater and "we are all girls here so whats the problem?" I C O N
The open crotch was actually standard for underwear in the 1800s. If you're wearing multiple skirts and petticoats, it's not practical to have to pull down your underwear, so they would just leave the crotch open so you could just squat and go.
Banksy's mental wellbeing is actually what concerns me the most with your program. I'm a fan of Zelph On The Shelf generally. I would beg to differ on the matter of his nudity. All cats are wickedly nude. I have spoken. ☝️

Tanner, Bernadette Banner has some excellent videos for sewing beginners! Her vibe is very Victorian and I think you might like her if she’s not on your radar.
I vote for letting us know way in advance about a trip! I would love to go, but would need to set some money aside for several months. Also, Iceland sounds amazing :)
girl, i feel ya. my last pair of 2 week contacts i had to wear for over a month because i couldn’t get in sooner to see the eye doctor. my eyes were sooo dry
Short Info: especially womans underwear was open for a long time because it was hard to use the toilet with the big dresses, petticoats and all the layers. Mens underwear was sometimes open but it was not that popular because shirt and pants were separate. Considering the garments are one piece it makes sense that they are open for men aswell. It's just the normal way of making underwear in the past. (Besides the collar and the longer arms and legs) Bernadette Banner did a good video on this.
While the armpits of my garments would yellow, the rest of it would turn grey. Apparently they somehow commission them in a bluer color and due them white instead of bleaching. Doesn’t make any sense, but that’s what I’ve heard.
27:10 you can placebo effect yourself with that type of thing. It can also help with muscle memory by associating the feeling of a certain item of clothing with a certain activity, like lucky socks in sports
Sam! You should get into upcycling! You said the phrase seam allowance which leads me to believe you know something about sewing and could do some basic things. For your cardigan, start with changing the buttons, you could probably take the collar off, shorten the length, take it in, add some embroidery etc. You might like it!
18:07 I really appreciated being prepared tbh. Most of my clothes didn't need to be tossed when I got my garments. A lot of my mission companions and friends hated looking at their closet of clothes and feeling like they couldn't wear any of them anymore. Of course, it's all made-up hogwash... but as a fellow sensory struggle bus passenger, I was grateful to get accustomed. I actually missed wearing the carenessa set when I first left because I liked that clothes didn't cling and I never had chafing 😂😅
What I learned in fire school is that many synthetic fabrics burn faster, hotter and nastier (Black smoke) when compared to natural fabrics. We were shown a video comparing a typical early 80's living room vs a mid 90's room. Both couches had a lit cigarette placed on them to simulate someone falling asleep while smoking. The "Modern" couch started burning in 1/2 the time and visibility in the room dropped to zero much faster than the "old" room. The room also burned much hotter. My class was 1998 so I can't quote exact numbers but it was a few hundred degrees hotter in the "modern" room.
Omg I just came up with the pasties idea on my own today before watching this 😂 I so badly wanna be alive long enough to see the day that the church sells garment symbol adhesive nipple pads, garment tucks for trans women, and eventually just scraps it all and starts tattooing the symbols in the temple during endowments, imagine 🤣
11:53 Back then, all underwear was actually open crotched. So it isn't necessary a sex cult thing (could still be part of it) but rather just how things were done.
16:30 I have a Seeing Eye Dog (Guide dog/Dog Guide/Blind Sight Dog) and I don’t know if it’s her training or if it’s just her personality but she has barked all of 3 times in the time I’ve had her, 2 times when I went outside and didn’t realise she followed and got locked out and one time when a delivery came and even though I left instructions to ring the doorbell to alert a package delivery a porch pirate came and my girl barked to alert me
Don't know how it works in other countries, but here in Brazil, in my city specifically, the freemasons run ads on the paper bag I get my bread from, they even advertise concrete benefits like access to events. Granted, the bakery I get my bread from is quite upscale and I think the owner is a freemason and trying to recruit rich guys.
It would feel more on-brand and pioneery to open source the garment patterns and let you see your own. Like with any white fabric of your choosing. And you can bring them to the temple to get the embroidery done. Idk might be kinda fun!!!
I'm still finishing the video a day later but commenting again bc I know a little about Freemasons! My ex joined because his father was a mason, so I think a lot of people who join are related to someone already in. It's actually a hard process to get accepted as a mason and you have to memorize a bunch of phrases to be tested on in a ritual and shit. They're obnoxiously secretive so most of what I got was "the point is to make good men better" and it made me so furious bc WTF DOES THAT MEAN And freemasonry isn't explicitly religious but the "believe in a higher power" basically meant you have to be a Christian in my town at least. All just very weird boys club, ritualistic, unnecessarily secretive energy, not a fan
It was still in the 100s here in Phoenix a couple weeks ago, but fall has come at last! Down to a lovely 95 degrees during the day now, but I actually have been wearing a flannel in the mornings since it cools off a lot at night. Yours looks great Tanner! Straight butch lesbian gay guy must be my type lol Edit: Ok now I'm later in the video and I learned an interesting thing in a science class once. There is a species of wasp that injects its eggs into a caterpillar. When they hatch, they feed off of the caterpillars fluids and gnaw their way out, except for one that stays to control the still living caterpillar to defend them until they consume it enough that it eventually dies. Wasp zombie caterpillars, google it My other interesting biology fact is the Portuguese Man O' War. A colony organism made up of specialized 'clones' that have their own tasks, unable to survive separate from the rest.
If you have a current prescription, you can order glasses online for way less. Glasses are kind of racket in the US. The markup is unbelievable. I use Zenni.
The last time I bought garments (years ago) it was around 200$ for a week’s worth of tops and bottoms. Shortly after that, they were already developing holes. I called customer service and they told me that they are made to only last 52 washes! I was furious! You design them to last around a year (if you wash once a week) So you’re telling me I have to budget hundreds of dollars a year to just buy underwear?! INSANITY 👎🏼
@@ZelphOntheShelf I've never heard of that! I'll look it up to see if I can catch you guys live sometime:) Do you mind adding a link in the description sometimes? Not sure if everyone is aware!
Wait buying underwear for the first time…? Don’t people wear regular underwear too - like underneath the long ones? I just. I never considered that these would be the only underwear.
I was told to throw away my regular underwear when I got garments so I wouldn’t be tempted to wear them instead of my garments. I was so happy to throw out my garments and go buy regular underwear again when I realized that I was in a cult and started making my way out. Garments and periods are awful together!

I concur. Also, the cloth kind of overlapped at the front and back so the crotch wasn't really that open.
Amazing info!!
Very strangely, I did indeed need to know that. Gracias. 🙏

I scrolled through the transcript looking for something and every time I read 3 words in a row it was the most unhinged thing. Y’all are fun.

Mormonish did an episode covering garments a while ago. I think you are right about them being dyed white instead of bleached.
AWESOME podcast! Enjoy your casual, fun, honest approach. You guys rock!! Also the dive into the deep ocean was super interesting, learned a lot!

AHHH!
Wait for real wearing flannel lmfao, I'm at work and plaid flannel is so good for cleaning haha that and zelph vids ❤
Also the fits make you both look like professional Barbie and Ken
The cardigan suits you, wear it more. Tanner looks corruptly straightish blending the fine line between is he isnt he and we live for it

Never wore them myself, but my mum is always bra under... Big booby genetics would not allow for garments underneath bras 😅

love how as soon as you started discussing what higher power people should believe in Banksy jumped on the table like "pick me"
