- LYRICS:
I won't ever leave, but you want me to stay
Nothing you can do, that could turn me away
Hanging on anyway
Believing the things you say, being the fool
You've taken my life, so take my soul
That's what you said and I believed it all
I want to be with you as long as you want me to
But don't pull away Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Liar, Liar, Liar
We don't see no light We don't see no way
You don't ever leave, but you want me to stay
You can believe in me I won't be leaving, I won't let you go
Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said?
Liar, Liar, Liar, Liar
Taken my life, so take my soul
That's what you said but who are we to know
I want to be with you as long as you want me to
But don't pull away Ain't that what you said?
Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said?
Liar, Liar, Liar
One of the most under appreciated bands ever. And they were great.
Too true
Agree 100%
No they were very appreciated back in the day.
Ya think me and my friends still listen to them. I think their great. Some people don’t have any taste. Burt is a legend. That what I said.
Right on man! Why they were Sh*t on so bad still is a mystery to me - arrangements, vocals, energy & the band DAMN - Floyd is/was awesome influenced my playing he was so great! They all were!
Danny's true singing ability really comes thru on this song!
One of the very few hits that he sang. Now he's the only "Dog" left and it's less than a cover band. He tries to sing their other songs, but the voice is wrong.
A wonderful time when real bands sang and played real music. No stupid AutoTune.
Sooooo true!
They are a true music legend great hits ,
Came upon this song from 1971. It is really good and really does not seem dated to me. I think this is a band tgat deserve recognition. They were really good.
I so wish they were inducted (well deserved) into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame before any of them passed. Now Cory is gone, It's just so sad. Rest In Paradise Cory. 💐💐💐
I met Corey the next morning after a concert. I quietly thanked him for the show the night before. He was very. Gracious.RI P. He passed away the next year.🙏
Three Dog Night did the best thing ever! Sing three part Harmony! I never heard musicians like that! Each unique soulful voice is heaven.... No one else has ever done that!!! Thank God I was around! Still rockin now, they should be recognized for the true talented professionals they are!!!
Crosby, Stills & Nash also did 3-Part Harmonies
Are they in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? If not, they should be.
Fantastic song and fabulous group of musicians with 3 great lead singers…whew!! I had a major crush on Chuck Negron and they were my 1st concert in ‘70 with my best friend @ age 11, can still picture them!
💗
Most underrated band when it comes to people reminiscing and rating bands. They were magical.
AWESOME! One of their best songs.
I flipping loved these guys. Amazing band. All three had phenomenal voices and truly were a 3 part harmony. I miss them!
My favorite 3 Dog Night Song! I used to play this 45 constantly.
Heavy vocals.. this band was a truly great one.
Absolutely the best song from 1970,my husband was cheating on me while I was pregnant!I'll never forget this song on the radio when I caught them together!Wow I still feel it in my stomach, but now I love this song and I'm in a much better place in my life than back then! Thanks for posting! At least I got the best son in the world out of the marriage!LOL
God bless you! You survived and live on!
Man the 70s were great. I would do anything to go back.
Life was so cool, music the best, chics were feminine & not yet feminazis, my hair was so much longer then, lol.
Truth Recon I hear you recon. 70 girls were hot. Dated like crazy from 16 yrs old until I was 24, then I got married. SEMPER FI, if your a Recon Marine
Me too.
NOPT THRE 70S FOR THIS
1969: CHEST FEVER, ONE, EASY MTO BE HARD, CELEBRATE
Floyd Sneed and Joe Schermie are the Funkiest drum and bass combo that defies logic. Pure Genius. The playing is brilliant.
The greatest time ever. The music was fabulous, the weed was good and cheap. If I could time travel I would.
One of my all-time favorite Three Dog Night songs.
Who's listening to this song in 2020? Yeah, me neither, but soon, very soon ...
Several times a week! Also I was just listening to some hardcore dubstep love all kinds of music but keep that variety!
Three Dog Night did a great version of this tune, as they did with so many others. This was written by Russ Ballard, guitarist/singer with British 70s rockers Argent, who originally did it on their 'Argent' album. Ballard also wrote 'Since You've Been Gone' by Rainbow, 'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You' by Argent and covered by KISS as well as numerous other well-known tunes).
Thanks for the info
I know argent did the original version of "God gave rock'n'roll to ya" but I had no idea this was their song .
Argent was a Great Band a lot of good music came out of Argent . Good song writers. Three Dog Night one of my very favs. The song Liar is my favorite. Pieces of April lol hate and love lol!
@@DSpeir-pi6tm Three Dog Night also covered 'Chained', another Argent tune penned and sung here by guitarist Russ Ballard. ua-cam.com/video/hsOm4mbH00U/v-deo.html
3 of the BEST singers back then.
Totally agree, Nita!
I have always loved this song
I baby sat for their albums when I was 13 yrs. old and "One" first came out. I baby sat for all there albums. no money just them!!!
Love this song
Saw these guys in the 70s in SLC. We had "partially obscured" seats (behind the speakers). The guys would take turns coming to the sides to sing to us. We ended up with probably the best seats in the place. Man, can they sing! Good music, then and now.
My favorite song of theirs
Great band and song.
Look at this. Not all that crap you see these days... and it still sounds better than anything out there now.
The first concert (1972) that I ever witnessed. My life changed that night.
Best concerts. Loved them, especially Danny.
The first concert I ever went to and they were really great.
One of my favorite songs of ALL times and definitely my favorite 3 Dog Night song although all are GREAT!
What a great Russ Ballard song, covered awesomely by Three Dog Night.....
Taken my life ,soon take my soul..I won't ever leave, if you want me to stay....Ain't that what ya said? One of their best songs ever! And that's no lie! ♥
Great song! Listened to this so much
Should be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !! :(
Why aren't they in the hall of fame?
I presume that you mean the Rock & Roll HOF. That is a good question.
They were inducted into the Vocal Group HOF in 2000, not that anyone cares. I didn't even know that existed.
Yea WHY!!! The voters are interested in putting in newer artist to bring visitors to the RHOF!! Plus they don't know squat about rock history.
@@Lee.Higginbotham Politics, promoters, and producers. Oh yes, $$$
Cause the Zombies with ALL THREE of their hits needed the space.......SMH SMH...
Great🎸🥂❤️what a voice
OMG, I just love Cory standing in the background with sunglasses, arms crossed and a leather jacket. He was always so cool.
1971 I was 15 living at Carolina Beach, N.C. on the boardwalk. Best summer of my life.
=( The music to my earliest childhood days... RIP Corey! We will miss you!
@ladyfuschia
Yeah, I know that, I might just be 20, but I've always loved the mid 60's to mid 70's that's the years of the best music that have ever been created :P
Great memories from this Three Dog Night song! "Liar" Awesome!
each guy singing lead on hits!! this group is as powerful now as they were then loved Danny's facial antics while singing 'the heaviest band in America' dubbed on Live at the Forum R.I.P., Corey and Jimmy Greenspoon carry on, Chuck 🎸
Awh...Danny looks so good here....back in the good days when Chuck and Floyd were with them....
LEGENDARY SEVENTIES-US-BAND THREE DOG NIGHT with their BIG PIECE "LIAR".
Released on July 5th, 1972. I remember very well...
I loved Danny’s voice. I don’t see why he didn’t do more lead singing.
I loved his voice too.
This was always my favorite song by them. Three Dog Night was one of the best talents around. They each had such strong and perfect pitch sounds. Love you all! Thanks for all the great music!!!
AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE
Great song and a memory from long ago that is good.
ONE OF THEIR BEST ROCKIN AND A ROLLING SONGS......
Three Dog Night was the opening band for the city arena-newly built in the late seventies-Fantastic group: even way back then. In the mid-eighties, 3DNight came back to my area-the band was hours late because of a vehicle breakdown. Three Dog Night finally got to the club at the time they were scheduled to LEAVE-they started playing around 3am-it was a fantastic experience-
rest in peace dear Cory & Jimmy....
2018.. I'm Still Listening..💕
Rest in Peace Cory...
amen great voice
saw these guys last weekend. they put on a HELL of a show. so glad we went!!!
Brilliant!!!?. ManyThanx From Costa Mesa r!,,!!!,!!
Beautiful Masterpiece
I saw these awesome artists in 1985. At the State Fair in Salem Oregon. It was mind blowing. To this day (And I've seen hundreds since then) this is the tightest (While not sounding stiff) band I've ever seen. Freakin' amazing. Thank you Three Dog Night!
Their best song ever!
Excellent video, thanks for posting. Lots of fond memories. Three Dog Night needs all three to be complete. Like the sythesizer and lead guitar too.
I just saw their concert last night, and they were absolutely fantastic!!!
One of the biggest dissapointments in my life was driving down to SA TX in 71 16 years old to see 3 dog night, everybody was talking about them and I loved them but got to the door and they were sold out, that still hurts my mind to this day, was and still am bumbed out about it Im 63 now and still think about it a lot.
Oh, hell yeah! I just noticed this song, all I want is to enclose me in my room and listen to this over and over again, and I feel like I'm never gonna grow tired of it :D
❤️ this track.
@Watchinthefoolshere I agree with you 100%...All three had very distinctive voices, for each lead that they sang, like Danny Hutton doing "Liar" and Chuck doing "Easy to be Hard"....Floyd was a friend of mine and a great guy. I was a drummer myself at the same time they were peaking.
That Hammond B3 sounds so great. We sure miss you, Cory. May you find many games to play in Heaven.
Good song. Glad I found it again after all these years. Thanks!
Awesome band!!!!
It would have been nice to hear Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf perform together.
Wow, yeah. Saw both bands when at their peak.
Loved that song...words so true back in the day!
was playing this, bought the new cd. .went to see them this past year ..and TODAY, It is a SONG for me! Two weeks ago I got blindsided .. and here it is. . exactly! the exact situation. .LIAR! LIAR! LIAR!
I love Three Dog Night!!! This song LIAR was one of the first Rock n Roll I had heard as the parents had country on all the time. I actually got a 45 with LIAR and BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY by Daniel Boone on the flipside. I still love that little vinyl!! I hope everybody has Beautiful S
Sunday!!
The memories this song triggers is just amazing, love it! Thanks for posting!
I won't LIE.
I really dig this tune -- it's at where it's at. Totally in the groove, man.
STILL an amazing group🧚♀️🌺
American treasure(s) they are...individually and collectively.
LOVE THIS SONG!........
Go every LP they ever made -- no regrets - all my kids love this music
This is a great song
My very first concert @ Richmond Coliseum in the very early 70's. I was thirteen years old, and from that day on, music was my Happy Place...
Watched them perform last night and I fell in love with this song
And I dedicate this to survivors, in the 80s that singer was one. Survival of all of it.
LIVE IS AMAZING IT CAPTURES A PIECE OF TIME AN SHARES IT YEARS LATER
22 an remember ing the REAL music of the world!
Powerful good!!!
MY first show...1970 tickets were 4,5 and 6 dollars...Richmond Coliseum...
Yea, saw Chicago for $5 at Ari Crown Theatre, McCormick place, Chicago in 12/72. Zepplin played a small venue in Indiana at a movie theatre for $5 in '75.
Underrated ? I am 74 and watched and listened to all of their songs which were played 24/7 on all AM and FM radio stations from the late 60's through early 80's. They had many mega hits and sold out wherever they played. Underrated ?...Not in my world. db
One of the best Pieces of Music from T.D.N.❤
Great song. Popped into my head just a few minutes ago....This was a nice live clip. Thanks for posting it.
I have always loved the band and for some reason thought the main vocals of this song was two or all three of them, not realizing Hutton's amazing voice and clarity. Never thought of them as underrated ( maybe under appreciated ). Can anyone think of a band with THREE singers with voices as terrific as these guys . I don't think so
Fantastic!!!!
Thanks for posting. I saw Chuck Negron on July 5, 1997, at the Fort Gordon Army Base near Augusta, GA.
It's cookin' for sure!
muy bueno recordar buena música..Salud2
Excellent!
I can't stop listening to this jam!!
Floyd Sneed, monster drummer...still alive at 89 yrs old.
Hooray for Three Dog Night!
To all the LIARS in the world!!! Listen up~~~~
Around 1980 I had a VW with two big speakers strapped into the seatbelts in the back and had this cranked up as I pulled up next to a little old lady, just as it came to the part where they chant "LIAR!!" Gave her a bit of a start,
Awesome song!
RIP Mr. Wells.
