The muted trumpet solo elevates this to the next level!
"What is wrong in my life that I must get drunk every night?" That lyric is so perfect and provocative.
Fine Young Canibals were so takented, Some of the best sounds of the 80s
Absolutely brilliant.
You clearly don’t have a talent for spelling though.
They were talented, too! :-)

Im 35 and I had just discovered this song! Now Im addicted to it! "Good thing" and "She drive me crazy" were fantastic tunes too. Such a great band😎👍🏻👍🏻
I love their cover of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds." Very underrated.
I am french and its the same for me. Im 39 and I like this group. She drives me crazy is just amazing! 😄
oh same! heard this song today (24/2/24) for the first time EVER (consciously) on my cars radio, shazamed it and just found out it's actually OLDER THAN ME! well, could've guessed it, since it's actually GOOD it can't be a recently released song😄but i was still surprised i lived my whole life without knowing this great tune existed😅
@@rubycelicaJoin the club!👍
I discovered it a long time ago but didn't appreciate it at all. Now I find it catchy for some reason.
Underated frontman with a great rythym section
Be playing this in 50 yrs+
One of the best records of 1985.
i know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to watch new tv shows online?
@Vincent Arjun Flixportal :D
@Amos Royal Thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I appreciate it!!
@Vincent Arjun Glad I could help :D
Excellent song of all time. Fine Young cannibals.
Loved u guys
You wrote some cracking songs lads! This one’s one of my faves.
Raw creativity. These guys looked like they were just doing there thing and not giving a flying F about anything. Love it!
Cannibals...what a quality band - best part of forty years on!!!
Everybody has a Johnny in the family 2024
Definitely a classic from Roland and the boys, man I'll always remember getting their 1st cd way back when. Good jams
Their first CD? 😂 Try their first vinyl. That really was way back when.
The track is fantastic for sure, but I love the video. The guitar dance, the expressions of the singer. I love it. Thank you
I agree ... this is really one of the kind.
@@marianyegre1911 it really is!
Yeh, me too. Same. 🙂
Just pure! Love the song, love the video
YT pushes inane Top of the Pops
They don't know squat
Captures the zeitgeist
All of a sudden I’m 18 again and a freshman at IU. Such amazing times with amazing people. Thx
Still loving this song in 2022❤️
Graeme would sit in our 6th form common room, just practicing trumpets riffs, lads would take the piss, to no response. I am pleased to report he lives a happy retirement, by far the biggest talent musically there, you can't do it without a band though.
the funkiest guitar players of any band ever awesome
I was 11 when this came out😂😂😂😂 I seen Johnny the other day he said he never went home😂😂😂😂
this is my fav fine young cannibals tune they rocked
Not one single artist in their whole fucking career in decades can match a fraction of the raw beautiful honesty on display here.
This is real fucking music, straight from the heart.
Saw Roland Gift at Himley Hall last Sunday, full of star quality.
Rumor has it they’re still looking for Johnny in 2023!
Great song, and voice. Brilliant band very underrated. ♥️
A real Classic to dance
🎉 Johnny just got home 😊
A true gift, this song.
this track is so jazz funk amazing
So much rhythm
I never appreciated the movements and behaviour of the "two men" before. Fantastic stuff, the band had an attitude and look that has proved timeless, you couldn't really say it's "80's" music.
O cafu canta muitoooo😄💪
Boa musica perfeita saudades dos anos 80 e 90 FINE YONG CANNIBALS para sempre
Great memories nostalgic, friends an I at school 🚸 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 used to wind our friend Johnny up with this song 😂 😂
Tune....
Roland Gift looks so much like I imagine the helpless kid in the song. Very underrated. Someone should make a film set in the 80s with this song in it to revive it.
This was in the soundtrack of "The handmaids tale". Not the show but the 80s movie.... so i guess somebody already did what you asked for ~40 years ago :)
It was inspired by a film / documentary called Johnny come home about runaway kids in London it’s on UA-cam watch it it’s very harrowing
Wow, what a classic !!!!!
Happy 60th birthday Roland Gift!!!
I'm over the moon 🌕 for this kind of music
easily on of their best songs
The man, the band, the king!
I used to watch this video in the mid 90's on MTV here in Brazil, such a classic ❤️🇧🇷
Eu também! Bons tempos de MTV Brasil!🤩🤩🤩
We are the lucky one's to have this growing up
A great song then, a great song today
Timeless ❤
Dang that 80's beat , a most Defo decade for us wranglers 🗣🥁🎸
Three musicians straight out of ska's second wave. Cox and Steele came out of The Beat, and Gift was the saxophonist for the Akrylykz. Unike Madness, who went one step beyond, FYC went far further. So much from the early 2000's, like Fitz and the Tantrums and Gnarles Barkley, remind me of FYC's unique sound.
i like this clip
So natural, fantastic!
Un buen amigo me dió el pitazo que era de 1985, desconocido para mí pero extraordinariamente sensacional.
Freaking awesome love the Fine Young Cannibals!
My glory days..1984..new wave..era..91.x..san Diego..california
Me too! 🤎
good music,we need much more of this today
Such a COOL song and video !! Roland Gift has a unique voice ~
I f'n love this song. My freshman year of college, wow it brings back so many great memories.
Great Song. Great Look.
Went looking for him on Venice beach in ‘88. Couldn’t find him 🤨
Johhny please come home
3:04 Who'd have thought Arnold J Rimmer would be such a smeggingly great drummer!!😄
Cats on trumpet
La adoro ❤
FYC those were the days
Lot of Great songs from an Awesome and talented band 👍
Excellent song 👍 very sad that a lot people suffer from substance abuse especially anchol abuse. You can't stop them unfortunately.
Love this. My granddaughter used to sing to it when she was 5 😊
Genial el sonido de la sordina❤
Awesome song
Going back to the 80's I was going out with this amazingly pretty girl I was 17 she was 18 and I bent over backwards to keep her happy. This had just been released , FYC was her fav group. Anyway we walked around Peterborough and into HMV, on the wall a member of staff had put up two promo posters for this group. She said, they would look good in my bedroom..... Two seconds I ran forward pulled the pair down and legged out of the shop with them!!! We split up some time later and I often wondered what happened to her, so in Sep 2023 I had a tracing agent look for her. Found her, she agreed I could come up and she her. Entered the front door, husband and daughter watching (like a hawk). Then in the hall those posters, framed and hung proudly for all to see. When I saw this we looked at each other and just hugged and cried. God it was like being back in 80's again with very happy times ahead, thanks FYC
You’ve just admitted being a thief and a stalker.
@@RufusdosReread 'she agreed I could come up and she her' look up definition of stalker, UK based. Thief, well the posters had no value, indiscretions of youth
@@creightonjason Damn, you actually got defensive 😂
@@Rufusdos Well I wonder why......
Absolute class!
Nah he lived in Manchester with all my memories xx
Love this song
Nailed it 🤠 great track .. excellent vocals

And both guys on guitars are from “The Beat”
Veddy interesting
We got two great bands from the breakup of The Beat…Fine Young Cannibals and General Public! 🎶🔊🔥😁👍🏽
Roland Gift - top artiste. Incomparable - the end...
2:57 - Guitar player trips on the carpet.
Buen tema del álbum debut.
Me gusta este grupo..tiene muy buenas canciones.
My jam 80s
Modern music will never touch this, this is raw honesty... men bearing their hearts and feelings without a filter. No one is conforming to an orthodoxy. This is pain and rhythm in one beautiful package.
Great song.
Take me back to my 20s world going to pot it truly was better then
hidden gem
I'm 70 and was taken from the beginning
Nobody has said a bad comment....pure❤
Roland 🎆🎇✨
I just know one song from this guys til today
Very very good

I was in 11th grade when this cam out. I though this video was the coolest shit on MTV.
Love it. Reliving the fun times with my first sweet heart. This is a top song, and the whole album is great. Thanks chaps.
Super Song
❤❤
Don't let FYC be forgotten. Why does Madonna get so much attention? These were among my musical heroes of the 80s and 90s!!
Top Top fantastico 👍👍👍👍
