Seriously, Spotify stopping integration for me will be the reason to switch to Tidal. Tidal supports entry solutions like Djay Pro as well as Denon‘s hi-end players. You can get higher bitrates and Tidal is closer to musicians.
Been using djay for more than half a year now and I think you’re spot on saying that it is viable both for beginners, as well as for pros. I think you should’ve shown the 2-deck view as well, accessed via the djay symbol at the top of the screen. Also invaluable: using the Mac version along with the iOS version. iCloud sync makes it possible to prepare tracks with one device and then have the metadata sync over to other devices.
The good thing is ... when my free subscription ran out from my djay pro purchase, it was such an epic update I kept using it. And the video bit and neural slides has opened up a whole new world of fun.
Also what's nice is trying out full sets and seeing what mixes well before actually buying it to play in Traktor or Rekordbox. Having tracks that actually mix well! I am seriously considering this for getting some better playlists set up. One of the worst things I have done is listen to small bits of music and then just dump them into folders and hope I eventually sort them out.
I use this as a back up for my corporate and wedding events. I put the music on iTunes and have the correct adapters for XLR. You can also connect a DDJ 400 to it on the iPad and control it there. Valuable back up solution for sure.
Thank you for all the info! How do I tune in to one of the two decks in the app to hear, prepare and cue the music I want to mix in next without it playing in the current song on deck?
Time flies! Nice to see you again since 2006! Where’s you hair? :) Your outstanding exercises with vci-100 were so inspiring for me. Thank you! Would tell more about time effective music selection for the playlist? And tips and tricks for iOS NI TRAKTOR DJ and vinyl setup integration?
What’s really crazy ... that’s an iPad mini 2. A totally old and cheap as chips unit. I’m using a mini 5 and can stream full hd video via screen mirror and an $40 old Apple TV ( the iPad becomes the studio and the screen mirrors just the finished full screen output) so dope!
good afternoon, it happens to me in the program that when I open zoom, automatically the sound of the dj is lowered and when I connect it to the tv the same thing happens to me and when I play the music it is heard very softly, do you know what it could be and how can I solve it? thank you very much
yep, with the subscription this package is pretty pro. i’m really looking forward to updates to the beat-grid, so i can quantise old variable tracks. fingers crossed.
Just matched this App with a DDJSX mk1/Ipad camera connection kit & Ipad Pro (1st gen) and it was plug & play. Works like a charm. Waiting for the next family BBQ!
all music from Soundcloud comes from youtube !!!! click on the track it goes right to youtube yes they are taking music ripped from youtube , you need to stop and go to a real dj pool
I've been exclusively a Traktor user since Traktor 3 LE days... Found myself switching to djay Pro yesterday... I had to get rid of my 2016 MBP 13 recently and fall-back to late 2009 MBP. Traktor Pro 3 with my S2 MK3 ended up being unusable on that laptop, so I decided to give djay a try on a 6th gen iPad that I had at hand. To be honest, I've been surprised with how usable the djay app is compared to Traktor DJ 2 (no streaming subscription except for Soundcloud Go) and even Traktor PRO 3 (too hefty and choppy on my hardware).
I love the DJ pro app. I use it exclusively for my radio show as well as my Mobile wedding DJ business. Streaming makes accepting requests at weddings a breeze, and the fact it lays flat keeps me connected to my dance floor like CDJs do.
Stef A unfortunately is was really the only thing it had going for it, no other had Spotify. I switched to a subscription for serato which was far better but now I’ve got a pair of denim sc5000s so have to use engine prime. The less said about that the better haha
Strange that spotify has given no explanation for pulling the plug. Tidal is unfortunately 2x the price and lacks user playlists contribution, which is a great way of sourcing music
I've recently grabbed a SoundCloud go membership just for streaming in Djay & Traktor DJ 2. The library certainly isn't as organized, but the subscription is cheap & there's a lot of great tracks (unnoficial remixes & bootlegs) on SoundCloud that you won't find elsewhere.
Agree. Using it 4 years now and I have seen many great improvements and features. I play in a bar so many ask for songs I never heard of. With this I can easily mix it. Love it.
its a great software, amazing, but i cant use it with my external ssl2 card...the mic input has latency and plays only on my right channel....pls fix this..to be able to use external sound cards....
An iPad can never replace a hardware controller. Touch screens are terrible unless you are using them for FX. Although the best part is the streaming service which a lot of professional DJ softwares are catching up to.
awsome app being using it. since it came out now running the pro series with all the bells in whistles any where! any time! use It in the club to one thing I suggest is use a land line to stabilise the internet line because wifi is not stable and it will freeze believe me its happen! lol video mixing is amazing also! yeah don't whats up with Spotify pulling out oh well there lost I'm gana shut mine down cause I'm hooked up to all the other platforms now alI can say is thanks algoriddim keep up the good work with djpro
Can someone please answer this, for this app, do you have to buy the songs in order to play songs on this app?? Because some dj apps wont let you use songs because of copyright or not having them bought. I have a apple subscription and in some dj apps i still cant use my music. Could i still use my music with a apple subscription or do i need to physically buy and download the music on my ipad?
With the iPad USB3 Camera Adapter, I've been able to plug in my Pioneer controller and it worked straight away! Gives me more space to play with the track browser and even play around with the Looper option.
Been using djay since it came out back on the ipad2,,,,stuck with it ,now just retired my 7 year old beat pad 2 after a very hard life and just recently picked up its successor the Reloop mixon 4 at a bargain 250£ brand new with soft travel bag ,,absolute bargain …I use it lie all the time,,,,but back before I had a controller I got really good on djay just by messing around on it continually, especially trains on planes ferries etc it’s so true with a set of headphones on you can just make an absolute racket eventually learning new techniques etc ,,,like he said it is so much fun ,,,,funny I was thinking recently to call myself DJ ADHD😂
TIDAL is part of Jay Z's umbrella. it is the highest quality bit rate and quality. plus great that this has access to Beatport. Why is Traktor not Beatport accessible? or is it 🤔
It does have midi support yes. There's a list of supported devices on Algoriddims website, which includes pretty much anything you can think of. You just need that lightning to usb cable apple calls the "camera connection kit" and midi should work across it.
Didn't cover the music video mixing that it can do. That is fun as well. Great for outputting video to monitors as well for a small gig video gig provided you have HDMI out dongle handy.
hooked up to a beatpad 2 and Ipad pro it has a ton of other features and fun as hell at casual house parties. In ten minutes you can show anyone how to mix and they love it.
Ian this is awesome advice. I currently use this on my iPhone 7 along with a ddj 200, Tidal and dragonfly black which sounds really nice and loud even with the spit mono cable. If only there was a way to batch analyze tracks. The most efficient method I found was to run a playlist in autodj mode 🤦🏽♂️
Traktor DJ 2 has SoundCloud streaming integration. I ended up moving over after Djay lost its Spotify integration, and I've been loving it. Check it out if you have a chance!
Djay is a great app. They have also integrated their software into a Mac app, so you can Dj from your laptop. The iPad screen can be a bit limiting. This software also has native support for many diff controllers. Even supports a couple of native instruments controllers. I use the denon 7000 with this software. I can Dj from my laptop or my iPad and use my controller on both devices. Ian, I wish you would have shown this software hooked up to a controller. Try it out man.
And now the app via Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected to my DDJ-200, it lasts for about 10 minutes and then it disconnects!! This is why I hate Bluetooth stuff
Lol it’s ok Ean everyone knows native instruments is slacking in software and hardware. Djay is great i midi mapped a mpd 226 to control all the sample decks and looper pads. It’s so much fun to play around with them and like a remix deck you can keep a constant beat going. I’m still using my original s2 with a kontrol f1and a single Stanton sc3 for wacky touch screen EQ and effects on traktor, but I’m considering moving to Djay or even VirtalDj for the new neural ai stem features.
It would be unreal if you could use crates and integrate with serato. A main loss for me though is the lack of isolation on the eq. Mixing techno without this is very ugly
I don’t understand why this is being hyped so much, because the sound quality is not good enough for me to use at any of my gigs. If you turn the song into an instrumental, you can hear that there are parts of the song missing. If you turn it into an a cappella, the sound quality is terrible. I don’t think any professional DJ would use this during a gig. It is fun to play with, but at this moment in time. It is definitely NOT ready for prime time. Sorry to bust anyone’s bubble, but it is over hyped and not ready for the spot light. Maybe in a few years, but no time soon. Also it shouldn’t be a subscription, until it does what it advertises and has at least the sound quality of at least a regular MP3 while using the 3 sliders for drums, vocals, and ambience, it’s just a $3.99 app.😳
DJAY 2 is not near as good as the original. It doesn’t keep your cue points in the exact place. The TIDAL replacement of SPOTIFY is also a downgrade. 3:56 Spotify should at least keep supporting DJs, keep their link with Djay Pro and rise subsc. price or find a compromise. What a bad move...

Seriously, Spotify stopping integration for me will be the reason to switch to Tidal. Tidal supports entry solutions like Djay Pro as well as Denon‘s hi-end players.
You can get higher bitrates and Tidal is closer to musicians.
Sheik Yerbouti Spotify still there.
They could've literally charged more or make some kind of compromise.
Good to see you back Ean!
Wow im first!
This app went from a $10 app back in the days to a subscription only in 2020.
The good thing is ... when my free subscription ran out from my djay pro purchase, it was such an epic update I kept using it. And the video bit and neural slides has opened up a whole new world of fun.
It does more than it used to do when it was $10 and for free. The subscription is an option. And an incredible option. Can't please everyone i guess.
What a downer i bought the app back in the day but now a monthly fee narrr not for me a casual ex raver such a shame it will ave to be deleted
Switched from traktor tot DJay pro on my macbook. Has a better integration with my Pioneer XDJ's.
DJay pro is a good program. Love it.
have you used the house packs to remix toons? Ambient house or deep house? it's fun
Thank you for your support keep mixing
Also what's nice is trying out full sets and seeing what mixes well before actually buying it to play in Traktor or Rekordbox.

I’m using the app with Hercules 300 inpluse it’s fairly good DJ controller
Thank you for all the info!
How do I tune in to one of the two decks in the app to hear, prepare and cue the music I want to mix in next without it playing in the current song on deck?
can you export playlists? So that you can listen to them later?

what’s the point of the itunes app integration when every song is drm protected
Is it possible to listen to one track in head phones while the other is playing? … mixing the tracks and guessing if they are in time is a flaw!
Just matched this App with a DDJSX mk1/Ipad camera connection kit & Ipad Pro (1st gen) and it was plug & play. Works like a charm. Waiting for the next family BBQ!
Very nice tutorial.. ☺️ easy to understand.. you're chill n that helps 100% Thank you man. I'm the latest subscriber as of 11/3/ 7:45 pm PST..!
The only reason I use Djay pro is Spotify integration. I will have to stop using it after July 1st.
I had to get serato and tidal streaming but it just doesn’t work the same as Djay pro! I hate that their streaming rights with Spotify are changing
Video Is a bit late
Arphex Twat use tidal. You can port all your playlist right over to tidal. Plus with tidal you get video mixing
Plus with the beatport they have the top 100 of all genres already laid out for you
all music from Soundcloud comes from youtube !!!! click on the track it goes right to youtube yes they are taking music ripped from youtube , you need to stop and go to a real dj pool
Hi, Can you make a playlist as you go along ? Regards Geoff

I adore djay. The Spotify integration alone makes it an amazing set prep tool
Mister Weezil I take it you’ve not been on djay in a week or so at least, they’ve lost the Spotify integration
I used spotify, but I switched over to tidal when I hear about spotify's departure
Stef A unfortunately is was really the only thing it had going for it, no other had Spotify. I switched to a subscription for serato which was far better but now I’ve got a pair of denim sc5000s so have to use engine prime. The less said about that the better haha

take the switch to tidal. it’s a bit more but u will get lossless audio and music videos to mix in app as well

i have a Vestax Spinn midi controller from uhm....2009? it were shipped with an older version of djay, but idk if its still supported.
awsome app being using it. since it came out now running the pro series with all the bells in whistles any where! any time! use It in the club to one thing I suggest is use a land line to stabilise

yeah don't whats up with Spotify pulling out oh well there lost I'm gana shut mine down cause I'm hooked up to all the other platforms now
alI can say is thanks algoriddim keep up the good work with djpro
Can you hear one channel on your headphones while another channel is playing?
And now we have Djay Pro AI and it's next level. In the process of migrating to it from Traktor after being a hardcore Traktor user for a dozen years.
How to save?? I can't screen record >:(( HOW DO YOU SAVEEEEE AAAAASA
Why won’t djay recommend matching songs in itunes? What am I missing?
Nice, but i like better traktor dj2... I hope that NI doesn’t give up on that as they did with The s5 😔
Cue on the iPad is the issue I have a ptoblem with

Is the djay pro stable for the 7th generation iPad? I have. A mixon 4 and I wanted to pick one up
I got it on my phone it's amazing and easy to use
Can we change the samplers?
Can I record my set on this app?

Is there any DJ software that allows you to take songs from your own iTunes to be remixed?
Neural Mix is a game changer.
How do I download musix for free? Other than music downloader app
Can you use this with turntables?
I use the Pioneer DDJ 200 with DJay Pro on my iPad Pro and it's awesome.
All you’re missing now is a camera adapter to connect a dragonfly Dac... and some Monster Solaras. That’s basically my rig on an iPhone 7
It’s a master piece🔥🔥, been using it. Great for video mixing. Would really miss my Spotify integration 😞
Yes, it'd be nice to see Spotify integration. The sound quailty of Spotify tho is still crap.
i use this on my note9 with a hercules controller, works great
What tips have you got me pl
I djayed a party last night with dj pro ai and it was great. I recommend it
Have a trail been added to the echo as yet?
Beatport/beatsource made Ean come out!!! wo0aaahhhhhh!!!!
I use this everywhere with a UE Boom...all hooked up to a Mophie battery pack
Spotify are dropping their api for all DJ software July 1st - they have just added support for Beatport though. Also, the app has a whole lot more.
Yup, Ean mentions it in the video. It's too bad, but honestly it was only an option for djay anyway. Let's hope other services really fill the gap :)
@@djtechtools Tidal and soundcloud are supported but the beat grids are F'd so you need to mix by ear which aint no thang
funny thing after 1st of july, i was still able to mix with spotify xd

Ean, this is Djay Pro but you didn’t mention Djay Pro 2 is there a difference.
djay Pro is the iOS app. Djay Pro 2 is for laptops/desktops.
I try djay pro it fun and awesome
But can I connect my midi fighter and controllers to the app
kenny low yes you could
I wish you would’ve showed it hooked up to a controller. I haven’t seen any video about Djay and controllers on UA-cam.

It's never about the soft wear it depends on your dj skills and I love this app no complaints
Still think that app is great just lacks a dvs feature ...

Even cheaper, its for free : Traktor DJ 2. So if you just want to try out if this is for you....
oneLittleDuck You are right. Just miss streaming services
Traktor DJ 2 has SoundCloud streaming integration. I ended up moving over after Djay lost its Spotify integration, and I've been loving it. Check it out if you have a chance!
If it only had a little more flexible audio routing configuration it would be perfect!
I love mix House using my Spotify playlist!!! Nice app!
virtual dj is great and flow deck 8 it be great to try flow deck 8
good soft, i will prefer a fix cool price more then a subscription, with time is not cheap..

Well, you suddenly stop with Spotify integration. That sucks. Why not support biggest. Don't want the soundcloud library etc.
Spotify stopped it, not dJay
Who else here in 2022 and got that OG midi fighter?

And now the app via Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected to my DDJ-200, it lasts for about 10 minutes and then it disconnects!! This is why I hate Bluetooth stuff
