Maybe in the future, but VDJ so far has worked better in every way and Ive used them all lol Its quite frustrating how they all do 1 or 2 things better than the others but you can never get everything you want in one software lol
Djay and my Mixon 8 Pro are a perfect combo. I’ve been a faithful user since June 2006 and never felt a need to switch back to Serato and Traktor, which I’d been using before.

I bought my Vestax VCI300 back in 2011 which came with Serato itch with free updates for life. This subscription for software mess hasn't helped in me making a decision to switch especially since SDJ gives everything I need. With engine dj constantly upgrading standalone djing is becoming my secondary format. I've enrolled in a 1yr. subscription for djay pro but I don't think I will renew, it's just not blowing me away enough to switch.

Thank you Phil for bigging up Virtual DJ. I think VDJ is way underrated. But I love how VDJ can plug into any software and work. Especially if you have the pro license. Wish they could have partner up with PioneerDJ or Denon.
All I gotta say is that on windows it runs amazingly!!!! I kid you not I had my first gig with an iPad mini had some software hiccups, but on my asus Rog ally MAN! it runs really well and no type of hiccups at all definitely recommend it also it’s free so why not
Looked at purely from a software point of view, it IS the best. But they have to get the hardware integrations right - it's a big ask, but this is a big step in the right direction.
dont do subs when they have software like Serato with the buy option i would seriously consider them as they have some good features but as long as i have no choice i will choose Serato.

I also got it for $30 a year though a limited discount in February I believe it can only be found when subscribing through an iOS device because I did not see the discount when trying to subscribe on Mac.

Just to let you know. Android users. Sounds from Android devices are lower quality. No power in the sound. I assume it is due to codecs and Android limitations. Windows sounds great, but library management is missing few options from Apple version. So if you want to DJ from Android phone: be prepared for weak sound. Windows users. DO not expect all functionality from Apple version.
Do the platter displays on the Pioneer DDJ 800 work with Djay Pro 5.2 , it works smoothly on VDJ & I love having the option of taking a small controller on a gig with platter displays…
Phil what your asking for from DJay Pro is exactly what Serato is doing Serato is too busy trying to make their app run on every controller, that they lag behind in innovating new features just like how DJay pro is doing. maybe its a hard ask and you cant have the best of both world.
I just want the iOS app to work with CDJ devices and DJM mixers, so I can ditch my laptop and use only my iPad for DJing in HID mode but still waiting 🙄
Look, I'm kinda happy that it works on Windows with the SC LIVE 4... But, why no stems on Android? The hardware in a new Samsung phone is just as good as an IPhone. This is ridiculous in my opinion. I'm not going to buy an iPad or other ios device so I can use all the features of DJay Pro.
Djay Pro is my go to software. I’m looking to upgrade from the FLX4, and the Djay Pro compatibility is a key factor. I’ve never used Serato, and I don’t like Rekordbox stems. I use stems a lot. Djay Pro stems are pretty good. So $30/year is a no brainer. Now I just need to figure out what my next controller will be
Hi Phil, does the 5.2 ver have Thru button similar to Serato & Traktor to be able to switch from DVS to vinyl analog? My current work around for this is to have Traktor Pro open in the background and switch from there.
I just switched to an FLX10 and was extremely nervous bc I had to learn serato. Seeing that I can used DjayPro now is interesting! I can’t wait to get home from work lol

I am a fan of Dj Pro I just wished they had linked up with Denon and integrated their software especially given the on/off Serato acquisition, having watched Mojax review also it is disappointing you cannot use the screens on Engine devices as I have a Prime Go, seems like a bit of an oversight there. I just want Dj Pro to be able to be a standalone option I really don’t want to spend £££ to buy a new laptop/ipad also is there a way to migrate cues/loops etc from Engine to Dj Pro as having to re do all of that is a nightmare

Love this software, just this functionality not working. I'm not the only one Mojaxx at DJ City says the same.
UGH. It is still not compatible with Traktor Kontrol Z1 and X1 MK2😢 Also, Traktor Pro is still not available in 4k for my 4k monitor, Djay Pro looks great n sharp on my monitor.

Is there any change to what companies we can stream djay pro with and will let us use the neural mix functions at the same time. I haven’t used it in a while, but I remember it went back-and-forth with streaming services and then not being given permission to use for streaming eg. Apple Music
What I find amazing about that list is that the Djay Pro 5.2 supports the Ion Discovery DJ. That device was my first introduction to controllers and I still have it in the closet. It is more of a child toy compared to the controller today.
I’ve switched almost seamlessly in to using this over the last couple years. The last few Traktor updates and laptop changes put an end to it. The only thing I struggle with in comparison is setting beat grids when it gets it wrong and I wish it wasn’t a subscription app. Other than that…I’ve been hard pushed to find a problem with the software. It’s excellent.
this is great news for me when I need to switch with another DJ in a cramped booth I can use my iPad/phone while I setup my laptop during the switch over
I’ve been you using DJ Pro for a few years now, and it use to work with Legacy hardware that I still own. I had a 2013 MacBook Pro which I was able to use my SL3 interface to connect to my TTM 56S Rane Mixer & DN-3700 CDJ’s. Since then I brought a IPad Pro M1 & the DDJ-200 for portability, but I would still like to use my Rane mixer with DJ Pro. Does anyone know if My SL3 interface will work with DJ Pro., in order to play through an external mixer?
Yes it works… I use it with RANE SL4, XONE 92 & 1200s, & Traktor X1 MK2 with Mac Catalina OS. I keep Traktor Pro open in the background to enable to switch to Thrus (Live) for Vinyl analog records.
Replying to Ian who said rekordbox 7 doesn’t support the DDJ-RX, mines works fine so you may have a fault somewhere. Edit: I’ve just realised that my RX worked whilst I had a free trial active on RB7. It no longer works. Looks like I’ll be staying on RB6 or switching over to Djay Pro.
And to Jason who said you need separate subscriptions, that’s not the case anymore, if you create an account with algoriddim you can use it on all platforms with one subscription now.
No real testing the SW, no tutorials, only water for ear for unlucky dj. You can make more real tutorials which are really useful, not water mativation videos. If you know what I mean.
While I appreciate that you are pushing them to perform at their best, I feel you are being somewhat harsh on them. Despite being the most recent additions, they have made substantial progress and, in my opinion, will emerge as leaders. They possess impressive features that were unimaginable a few years ago, including the advanced mobile and laptop DVS capabilities. No other software matches the quality of their DVS (on vinyl); it genuinely feels like using a controller. Their crossfader mixing capabilities are extraordinary, almost as if one needed six hands to manage. They are growing rapidly and have already surpassed most, if not all, DJ software. Compatibility will come in due time I'm sure, they have already announced this Hybrid mode (mixer with internal control).
I don't think Phil's being harsh at all. He's always been a strong advocate for the software but he's right to point out Algoriddim's slow update cycle with hardware controllers (compared to VirtualDJ) and the fact that visuals on the jog wheels aren't supported on Pioneer controllers (I personally find this so annoying and is why I still use Rekordbox despite Djay Pro being much nicer to use) has held them back.
We really think Algoriddim has to double down on this, it's one of those things people will either trust is going to work or not. So yeah, come on, let's have OQ too - keep the momentum going!

@@digitaldjtips Maybe. Except for the DJ-808 the other models are currently still being sold and Djay Pro users have been asking for support. Excellent controllers for a good price.
@@digitaldjtips I’m pretty sure that Roland has stopped the production of their DJ controllers. As a long time owner of the 707m I’ve been waiting on support for this software since they introduced DVS support. A 707m paired with this software on the iPad would be a dream come true!
Hi Phil - I am a VDJ user, i have been hesitant to use other software because of library management concerns. Would love a guide/ tips / best practices on using more than one software and managing/syncing libraries. I hear a lot of people use VDJ/Djay as their favorite backup software in case their software has an issue, do they just keep their libraries in sync or just make do without saved loops, cue points, wave forms, etc.
DJay Pro doesn't have any kind of import options, or even a way of scanning your own drive to add tracks. It relies on you having an iTunes library or using a streaming service. IMO the Fluid Beatgrid system is the best thing about it. In many other ways it lags behind VDJ and all the others.
@@groovindjThis is the toughest part. If it could even just read Serato files, at least cue points, it would be awesome, but to have to do all that work over again, no thanks. This coming from a DJ Pro AI subscriber.

That’s what I thought with the FLX10, and now look where we are, they’ve managed to get a non class compliant controller to work with an IOS device. I take my hat off to them. This small team are doing big things, they haven’t ceased to amaze me yet.
@@personal-development-strategy That would be awesome, I didn't think it was possible. When I got my reloop controllers, it was awesome, the fact that I could use Ipads with DJ pro. Then I got my 2nd Rane one. Sold the first one as I didn't think it was class compliant. Then I buy another Rane One after I find out it's working with DJ pro and iOS. Then a week later the performer comes out. I return the Rane One, get the Performer without doing research first and discovering it's not class compliant. I don't know enough about software and hardware. I figured if something was not class compliant, it will not ever work with ios. I'd love to be able to use DJ Pro with the performer, rather than Serato. DJ Pro is easier to use, looks much more modern. Serato looks like it was designed on a commodore 64 in computer science class in 1984.

Unfortunately the Mixon 8 Pro quality control is incredibly poor. The construction is poor sadly.

Serato is not doing that at all, it only works on licensed devices. VirtualDJ is the role model here

Android and audio have always been an issue for app developers, so maybe not a surprise.

Yes, some of these implementations are not the best, I agree I'd like to see them worked on. Look at DJCU apps for conversion between platforms.
I don t see Roland dj 202. Exist another software for dj 202 different by serato?
I'm pretty sure Apple gave them a bump for that partial exclusivity.
Virtual DJ last year didn't work with my Reloop Contours :) So I went for the FLX 4 and Rekordbox after 20 years of Traktor

It does work with Traktor X1 via Mac..you just need to switch the controller to MIDI mode and map the buttons to your preferences.

Works with Tidal with the right sub, and the others too except Apple Music

The only thing I struggle with in comparison is setting beat grids when it gets it wrong and I wish it wasn’t a subscription app. Other than that…I’ve been hard pushed to find a problem with the software. It’s excellent.
Yes, the software is indeed excellent, we agree - but DJs play on hardware. That's why this is such a big update.

I’ve been you using DJ Pro for a few years now, and it use to work with Legacy hardware that I still own. I had a 2013 MacBook Pro which I was able to use my SL3 interface to connect to my TTM 56S Rane Mixer & DN-3700 CDJ’s.
Since then I brought a IPad Pro M1 & the DDJ-200 for portability, but I would still like to use my Rane mixer with DJ Pro.
Does anyone know if My SL3 interface will work with DJ Pro., in order to play through an external mixer?

Yes it works… I use it with RANE SL4, XONE 92 & 1200s, & Traktor X1 MK2 with Mac Catalina OS. I keep Traktor Pro open in the background to enable to switch to Thrus (Live) for Vinyl analog records.
Replying to Ian who said rekordbox 7 doesn’t support the DDJ-RX, mines works fine so you may have a fault somewhere.
Edit: I’ve just realised that my RX worked whilst I had a free trial active on RB7. It no longer works. Looks like I’ll be staying on RB6 or switching over to Djay Pro.
And to Jason who said you need separate subscriptions, that’s not the case anymore, if you create an account with algoriddim you can use it on all platforms with one subscription now.

While I appreciate that you are pushing them to perform at their best, I feel you are being somewhat harsh on them. Despite being the most recent additions, they have made substantial progress and, in my opinion, will emerge as leaders. They possess impressive features that were unimaginable a few years ago, including the advanced mobile and laptop DVS capabilities. No other software matches the quality of their DVS (on vinyl); it genuinely feels like using a controller. Their crossfader mixing capabilities are extraordinary, almost as if one needed six hands to manage. They are growing rapidly and have already surpassed most, if not all, DJ software. Compatibility will come in due time I'm sure, they have already announced this Hybrid mode (mixer with internal control).
I am sure they can take it!

I don't think Phil's being harsh at all. He's always been a strong advocate for the software but he's right to point out Algoriddim's slow update cycle with hardware controllers (compared to VirtualDJ) and the fact that visuals on the jog wheels aren't supported on Pioneer controllers (I personally find this so annoying and is why I still use Rekordbox despite Djay Pro being much nicer to use) has held them back.

No idea, you may have to map it yourself if it is not listed. It is quite an old device now.

Not much, but some - Android now has Beatport and Beatsource which is something new.

Hi Phil - I am a VDJ user, i have been hesitant to use other software because of library management concerns. Would love a guide/ tips / best practices on using more than one software and managing/syncing libraries. I hear a lot of people use VDJ/Djay as their favorite backup software in case their software has an issue, do they just keep their libraries in sync or just make do without saved loops, cue points, wave forms, etc.
DJay Pro doesn't have any kind of import options, or even a way of scanning your own drive to add tracks. It relies on you having an iTunes library or using a streaming service. IMO the Fluid Beatgrid system is the best thing about it. In many other ways it lags behind VDJ and all the others.

@@groovindjThis is the toughest part. If it could even just read Serato files, at least cue points, it would be awesome, but to have to do all that work over again, no thanks. This coming from a DJ Pro AI subscriber.
don't go there with VirtualDJ and this - it'll cause you too much stress.

It's not going to work with Performer for IOS. The Rane Performer is not class compliant.

That’s what I thought with the FLX10, and now look where we are, they’ve managed to get a non class compliant controller to work with an IOS device. I take my hat off to them. This small team are doing big things, they haven’t ceased to amaze me yet.
@@personal-development-strategy That would be awesome, I didn't think it was possible. When I got my reloop controllers, it was awesome, the fact that I could use Ipads with DJ pro. Then I got my 2nd Rane one. Sold the first one as I didn't think it was class compliant. Then I buy another Rane One after I find out it's working with DJ pro and iOS. Then a week later the performer comes out. I return the Rane One, get the Performer without doing research first and discovering it's not class compliant. I don't know enough about software and hardware. I figured if something was not class compliant, it will not ever work with ios. I'd love to be able to use DJ Pro with the performer, rather than Serato. DJ Pro is easier to use, looks much more modern. Serato looks like it was designed on a commodore 64 in computer science class in 1984.
