That "I don't know what to play" on the piano got me in tears in like 2 seconds. True inspiring artist, and how much I love his attitude!! A rare human being.
This is how every producer/DJ should be. Love his spirit. The part where his says simplicity is the key then goes down an expensive hardware rabbit hole is comedy gold.
I love how he just throws random anecdotes in like - if there's a flood it's fine because I threw it into a pool in Ibiza once - then just carries on haha
We decided to revisit Stimming's setup since his original How I Play was so popular. This time, he took us into his studio to check out his wild studio collection, share how he transforms this studio setup for live perfomance, and a peek at his "instant mastering chain".
honestly not many ppl are on the same level Stimming is at. to be able to musically control all these intricate gear and perform live with them. luckily you don't have to be this good to pull off a good set. the key takeaway is always use what you have and really learn it inside out. practice and prepare!
@PEPE EL MACHO thats not entirely true. i personally find that smaller hardware comes at a design cost, that being a compromise of needing to learn tons of shift commands and menu dive. therefore i am not entirely sure by what you mean when you refer to this setup as "more basic" its actually probably overly complicated, and makes me think that you either own a ton of modular gear routed all over the place, but more than likely dont produce anything with hardware. there is nothing wrong with OPs statement. he is absolutely correct, you essentially do need to learn the intricacies of your gear to do anything at all smoothly live, and the gear that stimming is using isnt necessarily easier to perform with by any means.
@@lonelymusic8607 A certain type of troll that realizes stimming doesn't make super complicated music. Choose your gear wisely, because you can make this type of stuff on almost any piece of gear or ableton.
Great to see Stimming in any video. Best move I ever made musically was to use a live performance setup to compose tracks. Now performance IS production and I'm 10x more productive. 👍
I am not too crazy about Martin's music, or even his gear... BUT: I really like his attitude towards things and also how he explains why he does stuff. Even if I would not do this myself, too. He is a very honest and intelligent human being imho.
Absolutely love his passion! And super stoked to know its not just me who loves a flight case / pelican case. (I think it evokes mystery of the contents within them. Especially if you've ever travelled/toured with kit.) Gained a new fan. Great series. Now I am off to even try to learn about what some of that kit even is!
Stimming brought me to buy and use a wacom tablet to use with Bitwig. It works after some messing with the options, But i am nowhere near to his level of control and fluid usage. Mr Stimming is a real master of this.
Thank you for using your fantastic remix of "Cyborgs Like Unicorns, too" for this video, Stimming! It´s a very interesting insight into your setup. And long live the granular synthesis :)
Stimming. Take whats inside the pelicase and make a nasty techno liveact with it. It has the perfect Ingredients. Maybe add the Blackbox for livelooping clips. I know it would be insane.
absolutely crazy. but sometimes I don't really want to know how to produce some hits today. it would be funny lots of how to play to update from traktor user. it would quickly become clear how many well-known artists have left traktor.
Does anyone know what stands he is using to hold his little machines above his desk? Looks like a really nice desktop stand setup at just the right angle... Would love to get this!
@Djtechtools.. Every item which has knobs, buttons, cables will be accepting and appreciating 🤩I have already sleeping with my midi fighters and analog devices Thank U.🙏🎉🎉🎉
Very cool stuff to get an insight and a tour. I'm very curious to how that Chinese synth sounds like! Also: I didn't knew Bitwig was touchscreen friendly
that tasty chips gr1 is a beast. i promised myself i would buy one when i saw one come on the second hand market. ive let 2 pass me by so far without buying but im determined to get one.
I have one, it's pretty damn cool. I have the much less expensive Lemondrop as well, which is not bad at al either, especially since it weighs almost nothing.
Can't tell what he says "I record everything through the as well as through the blue box". I'm assuming it's an audio interface that the mastering chain is being sent through?
How does he use the headphones for live performances and most importantly how does he protect his ears from kabel breakages or something like that? Im working on an iem system for a small dawless setup right now and cant really find a workaround this problem.
I don’t think it matters that much in most cases and for most purposes the way that electronic producers use them for sampling and talking etc. The type and quality only starts to matter for people recording acoustic instruments in high definition in my experience. For myself, I use a DPA 4060 for such purposes and it’s great.
@8:36: Is this guy's mastering device still not on the market? I remember a launch video about it from him quite a while ago. Nice little device but incredibly expensive, like 3000 euro or so.
It is on the market. I somehow think, that the video is quite old, since Stimming now uses the Dreadbox Typhoon and RX6 from TI on Stage... not sure tho.
@@eugenbo yes, thanks. the gear I'm using in the video is what I used for the remix (and some more tracks which will come out next year) and not my usual liveset. for example: the ocs-2 would be too complicated to use on stage, so its gonna be the typhon one day, mimiking the ocs2...

Actually homie, this is one of the more basic levels.
Exactly. The quality is most important

One of the best in game! And has always been way ahead of his time. Amazing producer.
Always a show to watch Stimming explaining something.
I am pretty sure it would be most entertaining to watch him explaining a telephone book. 🙂👍
I don't know how to explain it, but Stimming to music is, what Bob Ross is to painting.
Sums it up perfectly! 😊
I learned so many things from you over the years. Thank you so much, Stimming ! ❤️

Same here! I made a 12 song live set in 2 weeks, now to make finished songs of them is gonna be boring, i want to keep playing and twist knobs :D
And, I expect, alot more interesting to watch live.
Agreed!
The best in your studio is that wallpaper - instant retro feel.
Stimming is a really special and fun human :)) great music and attitude. Not to forget the knowledge and astounding skills.

Those Pandora boxes!!! WOW!
The Gr-1 is really nice.❤️✌️
Really interesting. I wasn’t aware you could use Bitwig with a touchscreen interface. That could potentially be a very intuitive way to work.
