Straight DJ/ tech nostalgia. A Numark Mixtrack was the gear that got me into the game. Now, while having turntables, Z2, and a DDJ-1000, the DDJ-400 is the convenience go-to. Ultimately my next piece must be a standalone/streaming unit. #LoveEvolution
agree this is a great "entry drug" to that #DJLIFE Even just keeping as a back up with a core library on dropbox to sync to in a bind is super appealing. Good Job Terry !
You nailed it bro! This echos my thoughts exactly. I wouldn't consider this a pro (primary) mixer. It's perfectly made for it's target market! Spot effing on for a streaming unit! And a killer stand-alone backup! In a worst case scenario, just pull this bad boy out with your must have music already on it, and you're rocking in 2 minutes! PEOPLE!! Stop thinking of this as something it wasn't meant to be. I'm seriously considering this one!
I'd love to see just the center mixer & screen section of the Denon Prime 4 without the decks w/DVS support! THAT would be dope, a standalone mixer that can store music and read drives and your turntables of choice and no laptop!
For the price this is a bargain. A stand-alone with lighting control with booth speakers XLR outputs, this blows DDJ FLX6 out the water for the same price. The FLX6 doesn’t even have XLR outputs. I’m a pro DJ and I would get this as a back up use for small gatherings or an event like wedding where more than 1 room is used. For $600 standalone a great product in my book. Great job Terry as usual.. 👍🏿
Now way is this controller better than the FLX6. FLX6 is a 4 deck controller compatible with Serato, Rekordbox and Virtual DJ. This thing doesn't hold water to a 4 deck controller you're better off spending the money to get the pioneer xdj if you want a solid stand alone controller.
Good stuff Terry. This will make a great backup to the Prime 4. Poor mic options but that aside, a cheaper backup option than the Prime Go. Standalones all the way for me 💪😎
Good review, I really like what "In-music" did. two master outs are good enough. if you need a reference /monitor speaker you always have a volume control on the PA for that, no big deal, wish it will 1/4 :(

Haha... "Not off!". I love it =) I'm seriously considering this one. I have been a Traktor fan for years (but used Deckadance for a couple of years) and I love my Traktor controller. What I don't like is that I have software issues now and then. Not on all gigs, but it happens to often to be comfortable. And yes, it would probably be a less issue if I step away from Windows, but that the cost is an issue. This would be a nice alternative being autonomous and don't have to worry about the next software crash. However, I'm not that in to the wifi/online features. I want to use it totally offline with my own song collection. Most venues I'm at are outside reliable internet connection. Most reviews only focus on the streaming part. One feature that would be cool is to have an external (larger) monitor. I'm almost 50 and small screens have become an issue ;)
I've just bought one and I'm 53... It's better than I expected and I'm extremely pleased with it! I don't currently plan to use any streaming services as it just isn't how I roll, but I have an SD card and two USB drives plugged in and can access my music that way. You can swap out any of them while playing and it accepts HDD's as well as thumb drives so there doesn't seem to be a size limit (the Mixdeck Express will only take 32GB sticks, for example). Some people are panning the onboard speakers, I'm actually really pleased with them. I'm not sure i would try to run a party with them, but for home use and practice they are perfect! What I have done is wire the main output to a basic powered subwoofer and I was blown away at how capable that suddenly sounded for a home system or even a small party! I'm taking it to a friend's with a sub to see how far we can push this idea, and its only a cheap chappy Sony sub! I hooked it up with my Mordant Short sub and it sounded great. Except you forget that "if" you have good internet you can literally stream everything so that's not really accurate. Prepping music at home is a need, but at a event it is in fact completely stand alone. Pioneer requires same effort and the cdj units have always been considered stand alone too.
Its completely fair to call it stand alone because you can stream to it without any downloaded media. It can read files off of a USB better than anything Pioneer has. It can even read rekordbox prepped USBs
Cleveland Terry, first off, I really enjoy your show. But, Oh dear, the pitch faders on that device. With the Mixtrack Pro FX, at least the pitch faders are legit.
Wao, that new intro controller really sound interesting. But ever since my ddj 1000 usb input card went bad, I being waiting for the next versión of it instead of by a new unit. What a dilema. 😔
I have Prime 2....love it! This one a back up for sure...was gonna pick up the Prime Go. This one way more affordable...I hope Denon brings down the price on the Go.
don't think they will, Prime Go has a lot more features. Mic inputs, booth output, a lot more effects (& effect parameter control), looping knob and 4 hour battery power. But for an entry level this one is pretty amazing too, and the price is excellent.
What is the big deal with SERATO..... does that program do magical things??? At the end people don't EVEN notice the mixes.......they only thing they care about is GOOD MUSIC. You can be an expert mixing.....but if what you mix from one song to another makes people sit down......it doesn't matter if you have Serato or whatever, you simply don't have good music. Great review tho bro. I recently just bought this Standalone controller..... Waiting for it. CANT WAIT!!

Hi.. I bought this console.. but I have a question: I managed to import the tracks with related loops and cue points etc. from rekordbox and put them on the key with Engine. On the console I see all the poi and loop cues... but for example when I select the second cue point it starts directly... while if I select the first it stops and starts again with play... how can I make sure that all the cue points don't start automatically? I don't know if I explained myself. Thank you
Haha, I noticed that too. They all probably had a NDA (non disclosure agreement) from Numark/Inmusic that allowed them to publish their videos after a specific date/time (similar to when all of the tech vloggers publish their iPhone/Galaxy/etc. reviews all at the same time).
I honestly don't even miss the 8 pads cause you can just clip the same button again for a new row of 4 effectively getting 8. What I do wish I could swap the speakers for is a dedicated booth out.
Hey, Terry! Im really liking my Mixstream pro so far. Only gripe I have is the effects are not customizable which definitely limits the capabilities of the deck. Is it possible to put Denon Prime 2 Engine OS or Denon Prime Go OS on the Mixstream pro?
Ciao,i have a little problem, after connect Mixstream pro to PC, sound at pc is disable ( only for youtube/chrome or another player). solution ? please
Plus speakers as well as laptop and download music and upgrade to serato software or whatever software you use, the only thing you need to buy is headphones and maybe ask a mate for a USB loaded with music or 10/20£$ per month for streaming services. 😍😎😎😎😎
Even though I have a Pioneer DDJ800, I have been looking for a stand-alone DJ System. I love Pioneer and Rekordbox but the hardware is too expensive. I also wasn't sure if I am ready to learn another software system. I didn't get Denon before because of the Engine. Now, they revamped it into Engjine DJ, I have researched and given it a second look. My biggest worry is to convert my Rekordbox library to Engine. Can that be possible? If it is, I will have to see the controller live and test it out.
The mix stream pro can analyze a rekordbox USB on the device itself. You technically don't even need to stop using rekordbox. You can also easily import in your rekordbox library to make Engine mirror your RB library in just a few clicks and a few minutes
For mobile dj this will be the best tool! hands down! No more laptops!
Numark/Denon once again kicks Pioneer's ass. Nice vlog!

it's a shame they didn't carry over the nice LARGE pitch sliders instead of those tiny things from the partymix controller
It is a shame but you can adjust the range of them easily which compensates for the problem well.
So their next model should echo the NUMARK NV series with 4 channels to play with.
I would prefer 8 pads over the speakers and the filter at the bottom but overall it seems ok to me
I honestly don't even miss the 8 pads cause you can just clip the same button again for a new row of 4 effectively getting 8.
Now i want to know if their will be an NS7 Mark 3 With engine? That will be insane.
FX is updated!
2022 , best Seller
Wish they did a new NS7 version..
They are looking like the shortest tempo faders I've ever seen.
I have been disappointed by Numark before. My view of it has not changed. I will wait for any update from pioneer for this segment😄
Hi, did you check out the Pioneer XDJ-RR? Also a 2 channel all in one controller.
Needs a 100mm pitch fader. That's it.
would have been nicer if they didnt put speakers on the bottom and put more room for pads or bigger pads
How can you do the configuration of the lights? Do you have an specific tutorial??
Yes, it's a very easy process I think and there are multiple videos on UA-cam
The mix stream pro can analyze a rekordbox USB on the device itself. You technically don't even need to stop using rekordbox.
You can also easily import in your rekordbox library to make Engine mirror your RB library in just a few clicks and a few minutes
Great piece of Kit, but you still need computer to download songs on USB, can’t just rely on streaming services all night
You don’t need a “good” computer tho.
I'll get me one…. Today.
Is there a way to record both the mic and music playing at the same time? So the recording has what ever you say over the top of the music?
Just asking I’m new at this would you buy Mixstream Pro or Rev1 , or FLX 4
How do I do full kill of the EQ ? Because when lower them to the minimum there's still sound coming ?
Yea this confused me. The labels painted on say they are full kill but they are not
Can I use my dj crates from my hard drive
Hi Terry, is it possible to share the exact name of the soundswitch box usb to xlr please? Thx
