Great video! I use these same buckets. Usually sieve while glaze is thicker. So I poked 4 holes in the rim of the sieve and use tiny bungee cords to stabilize the sieve and attach it to the rim of the bucket. I then spin the bucket on my wheel on my Giffin Grip. Works even better than the Talisman because I don’t have to crank it! Let my wheel do the work!
Thanks for this video. I bought some glazes last year and the guy in the store was not helpful at all! He didn't even bother to tell me I needed a screen! What a jurk! You would think if someone walked in to your shop and spent over six hundred dollars he would be nice enough to tell me I needed one!😳🙄 I even told him I was just starting....🤨👎 That's OK, I never went back. I just go to another pottery store. 👍But it is kind of sad that I'm finding this out from you a year and a half later🙄 Thank goodness I have you😁‼️👍
What a terrible experience! I am so glad you found me! Everything in pottery is a learning process but its nice to have guidance. That is exactly why I make these videos! :)
Yes, especially bad because you re so new. I have run into this too or once when there was a new person the staff person was arguing with another customer that she couldn't start with a cone eight clay. Only cone six. So I argued for the customer. As long as she understood that it was harder in some ways. Plus and minuses to everything and some people like to do things differently.
just to let you know you can make your own hand crank sieve just like TALSMAN. The TALSMAN cost $280 plus tax and shipping. But If you go to eddies pottery I can show you how to make one for less than $35. I made 3 of them for about $31. each 80mesh and they will out last the TALSMAN.
Hi Jessica, just a quick question, if you'd found that the glaze was too runny, you would leave it a while and take some water off? What about if the glaze leaves like a dribble on the pot, would you add vinegar or something else to slow down its fluidity..? Have you done a video on this subject yet? Thanks Richard (Lismhor Pottery - Scotland UK)

Great information! Thanks Jess I'm looking at mixing glazes soon, I've outgrown the little amaco bottles!
This is exactly what I needed. Now I need to know what to buy for underglazes. Thanks so much.
Oh my gosh, Jessica - you are so adorable and informative! I'm a new potter and appreciate you so much.
I would have liked to have also seen the end result of the glaze fired just out of curiosity.
Great information, I'm getting my first kiln in three weeks, so I will be getting some glaze soon. Cheers Bob 🇬🇧
Im wondering what happened with tge plastic corner you cut from tge glaze bag. It fell into tge glaze. I canr sleep worrying about it. 😂
Great info. I just received by boxes of glazes and was wondering how much water. I will be doing your method.
Thank you Jessica
I just might try this. Very scary, I usually by pre-made glazes and brush them on. Gonna be brave and try it😀
You got this!! :)
Do you have fairly "soft water" or do you use distilled or does it not matter much?? Really like the water into bag trick well done.
love to watch your video always so upbeat thanks for sharing
Great video jess
You made it doable!!! Thanks!
That's a helluva drill for mixing glazes and slip!!!
Oh, I need this siv for wine making too

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making this video
New subscriber btw!
I have a question... What mask do you usually wear when mixing glaze?
What does the fingernail test look like if it's too thin?!?!?
Thank you
You are awesome
How long do glazes last in the bucket?
Where do you order ingredients from?
What does the finger nail test look like if glaze is too thin?
You're so funny!🤪
Yellow
I think it will be a yellowish color :)
