      Some of that is a bit over my head but I'll watch and learn. If you feel adventurous enough to do a tut on pfSense OpenVPN set-up I'd watch the hell out of that one too. :-P

    Love the videos man. Keep up the good work. I've been wanting to pull the trigger for a long time now on an R710 or two but I gotta figure out how much I'm going to pull in power per month since I don't want to pay too much for power. I saw in one of your videos before you said how much your bill went up by. Was it a lot? I pay about $0.12 per kwh.

      yeah! 1 server wont hurt your power bill at all its like running a "gaming" desktop 24/7 they only pull 170 watts tops my R810 pulls around 340 watts and i only have 1 R810 now i took my other 3 R810s to our Colocation for hosting etc :)

    Why are you not using your edge pro router as the firewall?

    • @Virtualbytes1
      @Virtualbytes1  7 років тому +2

      +dhowser2008 the edge route has a Zone ACL firewall but not does not do IPS /IPD System nor Web protection

      Pfsense is a great firewall with okay routing, Edgerouter is a great router with an okay firewall.

    Why don't you post videos of you working on the servers so like reinstalling software hardware and wireing and when you pull servers out and replacing them post videos about them

    I'm about to try my hand at hosting a few webs sites on my home data center for a couple of friends (for free)...nothing big. I have been hosting my wife's site for her business and the business and our personal email server for years now. I just have never set things up to give others CP access ect... I want to get the hang of it on a small scale before I fully launch a hosting startup. Just wondering if you are open to giving me a few tips/tricks or share some of your lessons learned? If you are, whats a better way to correspond as sometimes thing can get too much for UA-cam comments.

      Sounds like an awesome setup! and yes if you want a hypervisor and setup things your self then esxi/ xen server way to go but if a hosted client solution for them to access their own server you will need Vritualizor, WHMCS. cpanel this will create virtual private servers and make sure each client has its own resources and from there theres some setup to be taken in consideration cause virtualizor will need alot of storage and some decent amount of storage for the ISO files where your images will be stored in, and Virtualizor runs on top of Xen Server ( citrix) :)
