  • In this short video I show you how to easily make tiny dichroic dots that can be used in many many ways..
Step 1. Cut tiny squares of dichroic glass.
    Step 2. Full fuse.
As Fast As Possible (AFAP) to 1550˚F (840˚C), Hold for 5 minutes
My kiln shelf is covered with Papyrus kiln shelf paper. My favorite part of this brand of kiln shelf paper is that it's reusable. I can make dozens of dots with the same piece of shelf paper.
In this video I used dichroic glass to make the dots but you can make dots with any type of fusible glass.
I hope you give it a try!
    Susan

That is super cool! I would totally use those as glass eyes for my clay sculptures. I use glass eyes often as the clay cures at such a low temperature that it does not hurt the glass at all. - Heidi

Love this idea! I have quite a bit of dichroic scrap and will put it to good use! Thanks!! Love your videos too! I learn so much and thank you for sharing your expertise as I’m a fusing novice. 😊

Good to see you Susan. I always enjoy your videos and learn a lot. I'm making beads with a blowtorch these days and some fusing as well.

@@jacquelinegilder6458 oh I'm not that good yet. Just learning myself still. Susan makes everything look easy. Corning Museum of Glass has some great videos as well. Someday when I'm better I want to go on- line and sell what I make.

Love the dots. What is the name of the small kiln you used?

Thanks Susan! Glad to hear it’s ok to go to 1550 AFAP! Does it matter what kind of kiln paper to use?

Any kiln paper or kiln wash is fine. I just prefer this brand because I can reuse it many times.

Was the dichro prefired? I thought the coating would burn off if it wasn’t?

    • @BlumenSusan

No, it doesn't burn off--no need to prefire.

I don’t understand your fusing schedule - do the dots anneal ? Or d,o they just cool down?

    • @SusanMcGarryGlass
      @SusanMcGarryGlass  9 місяців тому

For something so small annealing happens during the natural cool down.
