I agree man... he came out "rusty" in the pre season, but he just looks so different than everyone else. You notice him 100% of the time he's on the floor, and that is something. He keeps getting better and showing the improvement year over year and probably isn't close to his ceiling yet. The biggest thing i can say will hold the Raptors back is that main defensive guy cause Barnes can't handle offensive and defensive load every single night, having another guy on the floor who is basically like an anunoby will determine their success cause Barnes cant guard Tatum and Brown for example
The main limiting factor for Scottie honestly is the roster, his assists and his spacing in general are so bad most of the time, outside or himself, RJ, Quickley and Gradey Dick nobody else on that roster is a positive floor spacer. One injury to any starter and it's such a massive dropoff in quality. I want him to start seeing success here but honestly think the Raptors need another really bad season to get another young good player in the draft.
That's exactly how I feel. A Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey type foundational pieces alongside Scottie where I am comfortable with the other surrounding pieces. Truth is raptors has there own local broadcasters (sportsnet and tsn). We have little to no nationally broadcast games in the states. So the big us broadcasters like espn and ABC have no incentive to promote the team or its players. In a year or two Scottie will be a top 20 player and all star. All the old guard of players who currently occupy top 20 that are in mid 30’s will be declining. Kawhi, lebron, butler, steph, durant, PG, kyrie and lillard. Than there’s the guys in the top 30 with injury riddled careers that may not age gracefully like embid, AD, murray and even Zion.
