Thank you so much for this. I am looking at both actually right now, not in business, just a homeowner with a lawn obsession. I totally agree about the customer service, that alone was enough to make my decision. Ferris Reps have been amazing.
I went with the Ferris and have 0 complaints. I love the suspension it feels so smooth. I got the Vangaurd Engine. Somthing Scag didn't offer. The extra HP is a must. I like the bigger tires on the Ferris compared to Scag. Overall the Ferris was an easy choice. I'll be adding another to my fleet this upcoming season as it is now the #1 mower brand. Great job Ferris! In with the new out with the old!
My dealer did not do a very good job on settling it up. I had to level the deck, adjust air pressure and adjust the front casters. Runs great, I love the bagging system with the vacuum system. If Ferris had the vacuum bagging system I probably would’ve got the Ferris
On any air cooled engine, clean air is absolutely key. Your oil gets black from dirt and dust (silica) getting in. Get an air pre-filter from "engine aire" Janesville Wisconsin. Your oil will stay clearer longer. Put a dab of axel grease on the air filter seals, twist them as you install the filters, never blow out the inner filter. I don't touch the air filters till they read 6" water restriction. Best thing, when you trade up you can swap the pre-filter to the new machine. Not a salesperson, not affiliated, but I do own 3. Its the exact same piece on the wright zxt top of the line mower.
I live right by Janesville. I am in the market for a new stand on(probably grass hopper). Have you purchased anything from Johnson tractors off hwy 14?
Currently at 70hours! I plan on doing a video on it around the 120 hour mark. Also plan on doing a scag update with the new engine. Sitting at 204hours on it now. Thanks for watching!
Just saw your video. And just bought a 36”Scag V Ride ll. The reason I bought it was I did a lot of research and watched reviews. Never really saw any complaints on the Scag.most loved their mowers. I looked at several brands but chose Scag. As far as your engine being replaced, that’s not Scag’s fault. And as far as the greasing, maybe check yourself on any new machine you buy before using it. I bet you will next time. Jmo
It's a good mower for sure. I was more upset at how Scag handled everything. Like I mentioned in the video, can't go wrong with either. Thanks for watching!
I just got 2023 vride 2 with the kawasaki 38.5 the very 1st week i used it about 4 lawns in fired it up and it blew out a massive cloud of smoke and its done the same thing a few more times and also a pretty loud pinging sound a couple of times i gotta call dealer and just let them know i also have the windstorm the dealer is great family owned jm hayden here in nh im sure if there is something wrong they will take care of it,its only got 14hrs on it
That sucks about your Scag. I have a V Ride 2 61” deck EFI with a couple hundred hours. Not one problem. I just installed the hurricane mulching deck. Before the V Ride I had Scag Patriot. Never had a mechanical problem on either-except a PTO switch went bad on my patriot. Great machines! (I am just a homeowner-not a landscaper.)
Although the Ferris is 921lbs compared to Scag 823lbs, the Ferris does better on wet ground. I believe it's due to the wider rear tires. I agree tho. Those are rough conditions! Thanks for watching!
Scag does not make the motor that is on yours, sounds like you need to find a dealer that cares more because I got mine from a small town family owed dealer, everything was greased, they delivered it, kawasaki on mine runs great no issues in the 3 yrs have had it, no weird squeaks, runs smoothly, cuts good, starts easy, and seems to be built solid. I have been considering starting a lawn care business and I might get 1 of each to test by myself. I would like to test a ferris to see how smoothe the ride would be on one of their sit down mowers
Scag has grease spindles, easy access vs. the Ferris doesn’t have grease spindles. The deck adjust for lawns is very easy to set and figure out even on the fly with the scag. Ferris not as easy. Scag deck adjustment is pretty easy it’s uses chain for support the Ferris uses rods. Speed adjust in scag free flowing, Ferris uses set bar. I choose the scag for reasons above

I went with Ferris as well. O complaints!

Ferris Z3X is the best mower on the market and as far as I'm concerned nothing compares to it. I've demoed the rest and found the best in Ferris!
Ive been really interested in checking out ferris mowers myself

A review on your Grasshopper would be great when you get some hours on it.
Great review here by the way.

Do they both mulch well? And can you attach a bag to them?
I agree Scagg corporation doesn’t care about anyone they sell so many mowers they don’t have time for the small guy
Man I want a Vride2 but the weight just steers me away considering I service yards that stay wet days after a quick shower

I’ve always felt that people who run Ferris are nomads… I run a vr2 and swzt. The Ferris stripes in your video are subordinate imo to say the least.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the support!

The ferris has grease fittings on the spindles, I have one
Reliability scag v Ferris
We've had far less issues with the Ferris than the scag. Our dealer support for the Ferris is far superior to the Scag
ferris decks are very sensitive it needs rake precise
