Comparing a bicycle to a motorcycle…….Scag period!
Maybe not to that extent
I use both and Scag does seem better in some aspects
Proud owner of a 61 " turf tiger 18 years old , kolher 27 hp 1840 hours . 1 ignition switch and several fuses later , its a winner 🏆 🥇
Sounds good enough for me.
I have Dixie choppers with twice as many hours
It's not how fast you move it's how well you mow fast
The man's name was Dane Scag.....so many people that the fastest mower is the best. It's the quality of the cut, which Scag wins and will out last the Bad boy!
I saw Dane Scag at a trade show in Louisville.
Remember Great Dane mowers? He started that company too.
Me and my nephew were looking at Swisher mowers. My nephew was going on and on about how Swisher was the stupidest name in the world for a lawn mower!
Then I saw the host’s name tag. It said Doug Swisher.
Time to move on…..
@davehaggerty3405 I also saw Dane Scag at Louisville many years ago. Old man with pretty girls all around him. He started with Ransom mowers, sold it started Scag sold it started Great Dane.....I've had Scag and Great dane.
Which part of the Scag do you believe will outlast the bad boy? They run same engines, running gear and clutches. Bad boy is also heavier built than Scag. No difference cut.
The real test of a mower like that will be how long it lasts and which will be the least problems during that period.
That Bad Boy has the non efi Kaw FX1000. It is 35 HP. The efi version is 38.5. There's a very good reason you see lots of Scags on landscape trailers and very few BB's.
😊
Bad Boy Rogue offers the same EFI motor. They also offer EFI Kohler or Briggs if that's the flavor you like.
The 2024s have a rear discharge option too. For some reason they're only offering rear discharge on the non EFIs though. Hoping that changes
I would spend my money on the bad boy, they look easier to work on and far more robust looking and the deck is thicker
Not to mention thousands of dollars less expensive. Bad boy sales directly to the dealers so your not paying any distribution fees, unlike Scag and most other brands.
This race means nothing to me. How good of a cut? How does it handle? Is the transmission jerky? Is the handle bars too close together? Are the spindles greasable? Etc etc.
Very cool side x side comparison. I recently had the opportunity to mow grass for the first time ever in my life using a zero turn. It was a Spartan and man did I have fun. Both of these machines seem like fun as well.
Yes they definitely change your mowing time and manurvabilty 👍
Two good looking machines, cool wheelies. That looked fun
It was especially since I won 😂
I’m not impressed with how fast it goes, but how it mows day in and day out. Scagg.
Correct. Like the saying goes,
"You want it fast, or you want it right?"
No difference in cut
1st time viewer loved you guys. I made a promise to myself that I would never stop having fun at any age, yoyoing, flying kites, or whatever. I see you guys live up to that promise, love it. To the debate on what's better, that really takes a scientific approach to be fair. I've seen bad cars last good owners 4eva, and I've seen great cars die at 50k with awful owners. So any test has to take owner and bias out of the equation...
Glad you stopped by 😃
Your the exact kind of viewer that gets it and why we do this 👍
Have a great week !
Put that baby in transport mode and leave that bad boy behind
Scag Cheetah has 2 speed transmission, not turf tiger 😅
Not even a comparison...bad boy is several steps down from Scag.
I believe I like the bad boy better. It's a more comfortable ride and a lot less expensive. Scag is overpriced and over hyped.
@@T_81535 I think Scag is the only mower out there that has a maximum deck height of 6 inches. All I know, it helps when you have to cut wet grass. If you have tall fescue, and you are keeping it high or mowing it high, you definitely do not want to mow it with height of 4.5 inches while wet cause you will destroy the grass.
@@T_81535 scag has a good cut. That’s about it. If you’re looking for more value then you’re right. The bad boy is where it’s at
Noticed the welds on the bad boys are minimum 3/8 to 1/2 in and look great and no spatter. The scag is under 3/8 welds and they weren't the greatest... other than that I'd always get the kaw and belts were pretty much the same. Hydros were both close to the same . Bad boy is 7 GA the scag was 10 or 11 GA deck. Scag has a deeper deck so technically handles more grass better. Choose your paint scheme is the comparison imo as a welder I'd pick the bad boy since I don't mow super tall grass
He got his scag ass handed to him
I have a badboy, it's been a Good investment. Neighbor has a scag. His is way slower then mine. But I like both.
Nice Wheelie Phil 😂. Scag always looked like a tuff mower. Never ran one but seat sure looks comfortable . 👍
Thanks 👍
2006 turf tiger, over 3000 hours, still working every day. thats why i also have a 61' cheetah, 2 52' tiger cubs, 1 52' v ride an 1 36' swz for my business.
Solid 👍
Badboy is quality mad thickest deck and made in America
Pretty sharp! Scag took 1st place today at the Drags for their division.
Check out the Tri-clone HEAVY DUTY trimmer heads for your next lawn care jobs
Keep an eye on the valve adjustment on that Vanguard. The rocker studs can come loose.
Just all good fun! Hold my beer kinda fun!!
The end cap on the air cleaner on the Rogue appears to me to be on upside-down. That nipple doo-hickey is supposed to collect dust in the cyclone air cleaner, and you can pinch it to open and empty it by gravity.
Those are two very nice mowers! I own one of them!
I have a John Deere z 920 m rides ruff but had it 8 years with no problems
Do some research. BadBoy is killing it…
Is that why you never see any grass cutting companies use them?...ROFLMAO.
@@Browns4lifeIt's like everything else... Everybody's a fanboy to their own color.
It’s like the tool truck companies. Snap on, Matco, Mac , to each brand everyone else is shittier
I like them both . Brands don't matter to me as long as they cut good and have fabricated deck. I will say Scags seem to rust a lot like John Deere's.
Thanks for the insight 👍
Both are great mowers the Skag has a better cut though so if a perfect cut is what your after go Skag for the money the Bad Boy is probably cheaper up front. Reliability goes to the Kawasaki it is just a simpler engine and simpler is better! Take care of them and they will last a long time both brands.
Good insight and thanks for sharing 👍
Bad boy 100 steps down from skags. Not even close
I have an 20 year old Kubota ZD21 Diesel, 60" cut, still going strong! take care of your machines, and they will take care of you!
Absolutely 👍
Good, Thx
There is a reason you see scags used by more contractors and municipalities.
Not knocking bad boy but if I’m still servicing mowers 20yrs or 10 yrs from now and ever see a bad boy come in that’s 20+ yrs old with 1500+ hrs on it still operating as new I’ll tell you bad boy is almost as good.
I service mowers and work on them for a living. And the only ones I see coming in that are at least 20 yrs old and still kicking as well as highly abused is Scag. They are #1 for a reason and it shows.
I would agree 👍
Think you have a lot more dealers that are going to service a Scag. Plus everybody's a fanboy to their favorite color and Bad Boy is the new kid on the block.
Frames and decks seem super heavy duty.
Same engine options including Kawasaki 1000 EFI.
Parker wheel motors with separate serviceable pumps.
Peer spindles.
Relatively unique suspension for a zero turn.
They also have rear discharge on some of the 2024 Rogues.
Obviously, I'm interested. I don't always like to get what my neighbor has... Especially at a premium for the name brand. That's why I don't buy Harleys.
I mean the parts list on these commercial mowers are virtually identical. One thing I don't like on this particular Scag is that computer. I seriously doubt you're going to see those come in after 20 years without a replacement board.
My brother has a Grasshopper front deck.
It's 15 plus years old, still running strong, and lays down a beautiful cut.
You have no effing clue what your talking about. I've got bad boys and dixie choppers pushing 3,000 hours.
@T_81535 my neighbor and my brother have Dixie choppers and they both have replaced the motors , bad boy ,I never seen one on a landscape trailer, Dixie choppers ride like a buck board but !! They work for you , and that's all that counts .
I own 4 scaggs i use for my business and those things are tanks i wouldn't take nothing for them i even brought 2 scagg push mowers for smaller yards
Right on 👍
I love my bad boy 23 avenger 60 deck with 27 Kohler have destroyed roots rapped a tow rop hidden in the pasture around the blades killed the engine but didn't even slip the belt
They are pretty tough even for me 😂
Bad Boy is definitely on the come up but Scag is still king. My Liberty Z is amazing for an entry level mower.
I wouldn’t disagree with ya 👍
How long does it take to make the money back
Skag is a better all around mower. It cuts better and is more comfortable to ride
I have an older outlaw XP bad boy with a 38 horse Briggs EFI. It just turned 26 yesterday, I also have a two year old turf tiger with the same engine. There has been zero dollars spent on the bad boy other than maintenance, that scag has been in the shop eight times in two years. Luckily all of that work has been under warranty and it only has 200 hours on it. The warranty work has totaled up to over $9000 including a new Kawasaki engine one new drive motor and a new deck that evidently whoever produced it had the welder in one hand and the whiskey bottle in the other.
When the warranty goes out on the Scagg it will be immediately traded off
You just made all the Scag fan boys very angry. 😂👍
I have a brand new 2024 bad boy rogue and it looks totally different than the one in the video. The one shown here is a few years old. I looked at the scag and bad boy side by side at the dealership and the bad boy is built a lot heavier than the scag. I think both are great machines but it seems like the scag is very overhyped and overpriced. It also seems like there’s a lot of scag fanboys out there who just wanna 💩 on anything that isn’t a scag.
You summed it up perfectly 😂
My scagg brother might need me to show him how to operate his. Because if i was driving i would have ate that BB up.
SCAG™ hands down.....❤💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Rogue rides a lot better, especially the new model with the same seat at the scag.
I see a lot of landscapers using Scag. But none with Bad Boy 🙄
Some of the highest paying contracts are mowed with bad boy for example you can’t mow sea world or bush gardens if you don’t own bad boys here in Florida
Bad boy really didn’t have a good commercial series until a few years ago. They’re still a fairly new company
You have to compare the mower decks the bad boy has a 1/4” thick steel mower deck Which I know is thicker than any other lawnmower built even Scagg.
The Gentlemen with the Scag have him have the dealer check his RPMs doesnt sound like it is where it should be. My scag cheetah was off by 350 rpm when i Got it.
Will Do
I thought it sounded a little off
Maybe not broke in quite yet ?
Needs to run 3600rpm with the blades engaged
Wide open throttle and engauge the deck.. NOTTTTTTttt!!! That is VERY HARD on the electric clutch.. Like popping the clutch on manual car and burning the tires on the pavement..
Great point!
Think the warranty kinda says it all 5 year unlimited hour vs 2 year limited.... No comparison. Scag is far superior
Basically the same motors and transmissions available. Bad Boy has a heavier duty frame and deck. You're just paying more for the Scag to get that warranty.
I'm 52 years old and I've never used a warranty... Aside from that 96 Pontiac Firebird that I bought new. That thing got sold as soon as the warranty ran out. 😳
$18000 scag cost should cover lifetime warranty vs cost of BB
Warranty means nothing in the real world kid. Every mower will outlast it's warranty.
It has “slick” tires on the front because all they do is roll and swivel. Why would you need tread on the front of a zero turn mower??
Maybe hold up better and loose less air ?
😂😂😂 good video scag is cool but bad boy seem to smoke that 40 hp scag
Lap/ stick steering is obsolete, wheel steering is better for slopping yards and if you have shrubs with low hanging limbs you can steer with one hand so you can use the other to block them from slapping you in the face.
👍 yes and you can hold your drink while driving
Scag is the best
For the price badboy. Both good mowers. Scag more of a commercial mower.
The kawi is a better engine. There's a 250 hr valve adjustment most people never do. It'll get noisy on the top end between 300 and 600 hours. Most common failure on both is overheating the head and dropping the exhaust valve seats. Efi vanguard coil harness connector can have connection issues too.. but mostly on mud boat motors.
Wow you sound like you know a lot about small engine 👍
I was under the impression that Scag and bad boy were made by the same people and that they were virtually identical at the same price points
Nope the Scagg People definitely will tell you not so 😂
My Rouge does me just fine. So far, it has eaten up everything i gave it. And the price is not the cost of a new car.
Front tires don’t need tread. They’re not steer tires.
Maybe wouldn’t go flat as easily 🤷🏻
I STILL RUN A 74 INCH CUTTING DECK ON A FRONT MOUNT MOWER.THATS A 1999 NEW HOLLAND MC-35 AWD... IF I EVER BOUGHT A ZERO TURN... SEEMS LIKE THOSE VELOCITY DECKS ARE HARD TO BEAT.... ID REALLY LIKE TO GET THE ORIGINAL TIGER FOR MY FIRST ZERO TURN ua-cam.com/video/M5FAA8OC4I8/v-deo.html
Just inherited father in laws 30 year old zero turn, a Cub Cadet Tank M72! Thing is a beast now, I wish I could’ve seen it brand new! I go back home and finding it hard to use my 42” riding mower at my property now that I’m spoiled lol
Id take the bad boy for dealer support alone, and less money
There all good if they don't break down all the time
The dealer should went over the operating system with him n he should read owners manual before attempting to cut grass
What are the maximum height cut on both these mowers ??
Specs say 6 inches
@@PetersonFarmsofNashvillePFON Okay, you saying the Bad Boy cut height is maximum 6 inches ? I know the Scag is max at 6 inches.
Thanks !!
Skag has high and low transmission, what was he in?
Only the cheetah has high and low. That a turf tiger... actually a better model
The Bad Boy deck is nearly 2x thicker metal. It’s 3 gauge and the Scag is 7 gauge.
bad boy has a 7 gauge deck. scag also has a 7 gauge, but triple plate around the spindle. you can't compare bad boy to scag. scag is better built all around.
@@glclawncarellccentraltexas8766 the rebel is 3 gauge
@@glclawncarellccentraltexas8766bad boy has a 3 gauge deck
Which one has the smoothest ride?
Scag with the adjustable seat
Two dopes without ear protection
Uhhh? What did you say ?
I suppose you're one of those people that believes in seat belt and helmet laws too. Their hearing, their choice.
Bad girl coming out 2026. 😅😅
I have a bad boy elite Kawasaki, and I am not really impressed with it, my brother's Badboy elite with the briggs seems to have more power. and a friend has a scag that he is not really impressed with. Another friend just mowed my lawn with his old and small Toro he bought for $500 I was impressed with that thing. my next mower will probably be a Scag or Badboy commercial grade, or I might just use the brush hog and buy a smaller mower to get the smaller areas, IMO the brush hog does fine but just too awkward
I agree
I dated a lot of Scags
😂 a lot of us have
I do a lot of service and repairs on all types of mowing equipment and i can say the Scag is a far better machine than a Bad Boy
I can’t believe this is even a comparison! Scag vs bad boy is like comparing a bmw to a Hyundai!
Why do people do videos of ztr's when they obviously arent informed themselves!
18 grand for that SCAG.
Man i looked at the zero turns and everything. All so much money. I just went and bought an older John Deere 430 to mow with because it was cheaper and still hard as nails. I don't do it commercially but I could and have been thinking about it. After I get a lot of business I would look at Kubota probably so how do ya'll think these compare to a Kubota?
@@jmwiszjust saw another video comparing Kubota to Bobcat at entry level $5k. Bobcat was built similar to these, not so for Kubota.
I would say DRIVER
I think the Bobcat 7000 cuts better
Never heard of a scag?
40hp seems like overkill
Not overkill by any means. You would understand if you ever owned one.
Overkill is exactly what you want on a zero turn. I had a 61 inch mower with a 27hp and it was severely underpowered went to a 38.5hp and would never go back to an underpowered mower.
The ONLY thing they got right on a Bad Boy, was the 1st nane!
Heavier frame and deck. Same motor and transmissions available. Rogue has a full suspension.
They're pretty close to the same machine. I'm not a brand name fanboy. I'm looking for quality at the cheapest price
@@sociopathmercenary
Oh so it is just a heavier pile of 💩 then.
15 k mower
NASCAR, Boys and their Toys
Bab Boy just has a stupid name for a mower....like it was named by some highschool thug...
You can't compare a bad boy to a scag is top of the line with a price tag 15k ,do yourself a favor and put your bad boy back in the garage
Right here is the best example of why the south lost the war
Both of these mowers make me proud that I run Husqvarna X560X's and Z572X's, these mowers look like junk compared to mine.
👍😂
Yea Husqvarna makes a good mower if you live in a small sub-division. And have an HOA yard smaller than your house.
@@outdooradventureswithbrayt3665 I would bet that you have never ran the Z60x commercial ZTR, if you did you would be surprised at how good they are.
Everybody has a better mower
Husqvarna it's a toy compared to scag and bad boy ,sorry
Bad boy is the best by far
Battle of the bottom. What junk heaps
My 5000 dollar bad boy cuts butter then any scag I ever ran scag and exmark are overrated as hell
Scagg one word
Scag. Scag. Scag. All the way.
Bobcat, gravely, scagg
