A buddy of mine and I hiked the ridge length, while also crossing back and forth in August of 1976. We saw a few people along the way, but not many. I appreciate you filming this. I don’t recall seeing shelters when we were there. Thanks for the video!!!
Really enjoyed your video. I have been to isle Royal 3 times. First trip went to Lane Cove. After that trip I am surprised I went back two more times. One of my favorite places on earth.
Jason Outdoors Thanks Brother! It was pretty crazy, we got in a day earlier than we planned. They ended up walking right in front of our shelter on the way in to Windigo.
Great video! I'm heading there in mid August. What time of year was it for this trip? (I assume July or August...) Also, what was the quote at 27:30? It is beautiful.
Thanks! This was 2nd into 3rd week in august, sorry don’t remember exact dates. Definitely the most crowded two weeks of the year, yet still pretty secluded while hiking. The quote is from N. T. Wright from his book For All Gods Worth.
Would you recommend Greenstone or Minong for going across the western half? Going in May/June, first backpacking trip, taking a hammock. Getting pretty excited
The western half is probably your best bet in a hammock. The islands sites are not very hammock friendly as far as sites are concerned. But between those two the greenstone is what I recommend
Not reliably, on the east side I had some very rarely up on the green stone. On the west side of the island I could connect to Canadian towers up on the ridge

Great video. Trip looked awesome. That was so cool to run into Kyle and Ryan like that. As I started watching I remembered they would be there. 🤗👍

Are there any bear there?
There are no bear on Isle Royale
Did you get any cell service on the island?
Not reliably, on the east side I had some very rarely up on the green stone. On the west side of the island I could connect to Canadian towers up on the ridge
I might get a Canadian carrier when I go there, I just want to be able to keep in touch with whoever is watching my 3 kids.
Kyle is a trip
Hill climb? Have you guys never been on the AT? Its not that bad. LOL
This trip is a little far away from the AT but I’m glad it brought you some amusement!
What camera do you use? By the way, great video!
I’ve been using the Panasonic G85 lately, great camera that has a lot of features for the price.
Hmmm
Isle Royale copper, proof Columbus was the LAST, not the first, to find the new world.
