Probably my favorite line you didn't mention is when he and his lady stop to talk to two teenage girls while walking down the freshly de-smacked streets. "My mama said my daddy's name was Black Dynamite." "So did my mama." "uhhh, hush up little girls, lot of cats have that name."
The entire "diner deduction" scene is absolute genius. The way everyone rattles off these obscure facts, one going to the other, making it seem "yeah, that makes total sense," it's insane troll logic at its finest and somehow works.
Then there's the old lady practically off screen whos not even one of the actual characters who keeps chiming in answering the later questions before they even get to answer them right as they're getting close to the final answer lmao
Considering the fact that Black Dynamite led them down that whole rabbit hole, it’s clear he knew “Anaconda Malt Liquor gives you a little dick,” the whole time! He communicated it that way PURPOSEFULLY
My favorite lines in the movie are "My momma said my daddy's name is Black Dynamite" "My momma says my daddy's name is Black Dynamite too!" "Hush up little girl, a lot of cats around here go by that name"
the single problem i have with the film after hours and years of rewatches is one bad digital fire effect that breaks the 70's illusion for like 1 second
'I THREW THAT SHIT BEFORE I WALKED IN THE ROOM!!!' is high up on my favorite lines, but you're 100% correct that 99% of the lines in this are hilarious and extremely quotable.
I've slept on this movie, because every time I'd see it available, I thought it was an actual 70's blaxsploitation movie. This thing looks funny as hell. The car blowing up at 9:15 while going over the cliff, before it even hit anything, completely won me over. This jive ass turkey will definitely check out Black Dynamite.
And that's why it is a masterpiece of cinema! The level of sublime and in-your-face, while nuanced, tropes from all the 60's, 70's and 80's bad/good shows is so incredible! It's like learning with incredibly good and ridiculous Historical Satire, minute by minute! One of the greatest Comedies ever made!
That part where Bullhorn slaps the dude & the actor breaks character, then the next cut is another actor gets me every time. Also, "But Black Dynamite, I sell drugs in the community!"
One of my favorite movies of all time, and the Sundance Cut as I call it was even funnier and looked even more like a classic blaxploitation film. Gonna watch this now but I always loved the bit of trivia about the making of this movie where they went to a studio for funding and showed the guy a trailer for what they wanted to do. He was confused why they just showed him a trailer from the 70's but after explaining that they had just shot it he was like "you're funded."
Black Dynamite's theme song was my text alert for about 3 years after I first saw this. It was an automatic classic!! Bullhorn's slap in The Hip Pocket legit had me in tears.
It is one of the most quotable films ever, with so many choice lines. Not only is it a funny film but it works on different levels depending on whether you're a novice or a seasoned blacksploitation veteran, The parts when he keeps noticing the boom mic are hilarious.
Definitely one of my favorites. All of the little things make me laugh, the boom mics in the shot, the car not being put in park, the deliberate bad edits, its amazing.
This is just one of those movies that you have to watch. You could quote the movie scene for scene, line for line, but it'll never make sense unless you actually watch. Loved this movie so much! And those "mistakes" are amazing 👏
Soooo many great scenes but the 1 that actually had me roll off the couch and onto the floor in hysterics is when they arrive on Kung Fu island and BD whispers "ok, here's the plan" and out of the bushes the guy that reads every word of his script pops up biting his lip and starts blowing the absolute shit out of everything! Cut to Black Dynamite glaring at him like "WTF!" 🤣🤣🤣
So I just watched this the other day after watching your review and it was great. I have to say the part where he says "Ha, I threw that before I entered the room!" had me laughing for like 2 minutes. So funny
I was frickin pissed they cancelled that show. I know it wasn't from ratings though. My friends and I all loved it and a lot of people did. That's the sad thing. I mean what's the difference in a that and say like squidbillies that is making fun of people like me that live back in BFE.
This is one of the greatest movies ever made. Not even kidding. It's so good, it's actually insane... One of my top favorites for sure. I can watch it an infinite amount of times and still wanna see it again.
My favorite line is Arsenio's during the credits. When BP came and checked all the pimps and left. The Arsenio says "Who the hell let this n*gga in my house?" Up until that point I had forgotten how funny Arsenio is. 😆
Best lines: "who the hell is interrupting my kung fu" "bookoosasaw like some cartoon shit" "Tell me who did i just leave a little puddle" "Pack my- DYNAMITE!" "I'm running thaAæAƪAINGs, creeeeem corrn. 22 pounds of- DYNAMITE!" "Awh, mothaf-(PUNCH)" " Sarcastically, i'm in charge" "i used to be an orphan..." "They used to be orphans, orphans dont have parents" "Donuts don't wear elegated shoes..." "12:14 epic sequence" "But, Black Dynamite... I sell drugs in the community..." "Can you dig it?" "Anaconda Malt Liquor gives you little richards-" "Haha! I threw that shit before i walked on the room!" "Cream Corn, NoOOOOOoOoO!" "I'm sorry i pimped slapped you " "DYNOMITE, DYNOMITE!!!!"
Man every time I rewatch this I find something new it’s too funny. Chicago Wind cracks me up with the no look driving all the time. Also when he was checking his brothers apt the song that plays says what he’s doing hilarious.
You know what ,I'd have loved to see Steve James as a character fighting alongside Black Dynamite! In an alternate universe of course where our beloved shirtless mustache badass was alive and kicking! RIP Curtis Jackson!
Absolute classic, Michael Jai has fantastic sense of humour , he needs to do more... the animation is cool but we really wanted another live action...this is a must watch for all
This movie had the best racial slur I ever heard. I love the part where the lady at the end shoots a plate out of Black Dynamite's hand and says "Get your filthy black hands off the Presidential dinnerware, you Moon Cricket!" If I ever meet Michael Jai, I'm gonna shake his hand and tell him how much I love this movie.
He's pretty good. He was in another spoof movie called Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood. He had a very memorable role in that. His name is Darrel Heath
I simply adore this film. It's easily one of the funniest films in this century. The comedy is so nuanced, it's like a 7 layer burrito of comedy. I thought about recommending it to you but I see you were already on it. I love how they put in some intentional mistakes and also left any actual mistakes in as well. Like the scene when the crew rides up at Roscoe's Chili and donuts and start shooting at BD, the driver forgot to put the car in park for real. They decided to leave it in because it was more authentic to blacksploitation films. They didn't have budgets to spend on multiple takes back then. Also, shout out to the soundtrack. Soundtracks we're a huge part of blacksploitation films. Such as Curtis Mayfield's excellent soundtrack for SUPERFLY. Pusherman is still a relevant song. I love how even the soundtrack is in on the comedy as well in BD. Singing about what's happening in the scene. Adrian Younge deserves accolades for such a good throwback score. He went on to do the score for the excellent LUKE CAGE Netflix series. The same crew and performers of BD were supposed to do a blacksploitation western film, THE OUTLAW JOHNNY BLACK but it still hasn't come out. They made a trailer for it back in 2018 and even that was hilarious. I hope we get it someday.
My favorite scene is anytime the theme song plays. I watched this for the first time at an after work movie night at a work thing years ago. was very surprised to be watching this at work to say the least hah!
I'm sure selecting scenes was a difficult process but you definitely pulled it off. I've seen the movie 5 times and I could probably count this as the 6th. Your editing is really being well polished my dude. I recommend "3 Ninjas" for inclusion into the "Ninja" series. 😄
I love your channel! Growing up me, my dad, my brother, and my cousin used to have guys night and we would watch all the movies you cover. Its nice that when covering or watching the movies this time i dont have to cover my eyes at the juicy scenes.
My favorite scene is the pool hall scene....where Black Dynamite switch the closed sign to open before he locked the door. Then if you watch closely the guys he threw out the windows are the same guys still inside and one of them was the stand in after that slap....LOL
Also there was supposed to be a part 2, but then it turned into a western, but haven't heard anything else about it other than this preview back in 2018: ua-cam.com/video/6XLXSOG7zBo/v-deo.html
I have to thank Angry Joe for helping me find this hidden gem. He wasn't even really talking about it? He was talking about another black comedy parody spoof he didn't care for and said if you want a good example of this type of movie, watch Black Dynamite. You both are so right! I love this movie.
There are so many gems in this video, I honestly can't pick one out. Well, except for, "I threw that sh*t before I walked in the room" comes to mind. LOL. Now, I have to see this film. Thanks so much for the heads up. If you haven't joined the RedEye Review patreon, now is the time.
For anyone who hasn't seen either I'm Gonna Git You Sucka or Black Dynamite, see both. Buuut Black Dynamite is the one that actually feels like a real blaxploitation movie. The attention to detail is incredible. And it comes at no loss of humor. I couldn't exactly rank them, but this definitely delivers the most authentic blaxploitation experience. Also, not all real blaxploitation movies are bad or campy. Across 110th Street is a solid film.
I see I'm gonna get you sucka in the same vein as Austin Powers. It relishes in its era while wearing the spirit and tropes of the genre its parodying on its sleeve.
Across 110th Street is an excellent film. It's so good I don't consider it blaxpolitation. They had Anthony Quinn and Yaphet Kotto. Another big mainstream actor was in it. Can't remember the name
Tropic Thunder references will never get old I think Steven Seagal is low key jealous of Black Dynamite and his skills (in martial arts, sexual conquests, and military service) This movie is such a great classic and so well done, many of its subtleties are underappreciated)
I saw this in the theaters and there were only 10 of us at the showing. I wish more people saw this in the cinema. That scene where the boom mic was in the shot still kills me. Thanks for reviewing this
I have no idea what has been going on. Been subbed for aaaaaages, but I'm not getting your videos pop up until today, after I searched your channel to see when you last uploaded. Hey RedEye........much love man! Love the review and also.....Black Dynamite is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE movies............"Anaconda Malt Liquor.....gives you ohhhhhhhhhh!"
This is definitely one of the best parody movies made. It looks and feels like the 70s black action movies and, with very few exceptions, keeps on target. To those who were raised on Friedberg/Seltzer 'parody' movies, this is what a parody movie is supposed to be. This is not a wink-at-the-camera/aren't-we-funny pop-reference movie. Boom mike, and the tear were nods to Dolomite. This movie is so damn good and nods a hat at so many other movies I love. Blaxploitation is my favorite genre. EDIT: You got my subscribe when you said your favorite part was my favorite part at 8:40. When he slaps dude so hard he literally quits and they replace him. 🤣
I'd buy one with a Steven Seagal quote on it: "RedEye Reviews is my favorite UA-cam channel. I've been watching his reviews for 40, 50 years." - Steven Seagal
I cannot think of my favorite scene but the cartoon episode with OJ was fucking awesome. Or the one with Michael Jackson, that was also really funny. Poor Shamone!
Ok last comment. When Tommy Davison snapped on the waitress, I want to say that so bad but I have respect for them (as long as they don’t have an attitude) it was too funny.
I absolutely love this movie. I've seen it in about half a dozen times. I remember finding out about this movie about a year before it came out. I saw it as soon as I could, then introduced it to all my friends.
"But Black Dynamite, I sell drugs in the community." Lmao goated movie.
Best line in the history of cinema.
My momma says my daddy's name is Black Dynamite
Ah, little girl's, there's lots of cats with that name
I THINK the head pimp holding that meeting is Arsenio Hall
Those brothers were mean.. like a fat nigga wit pork chops and greens now can u dig it🤣🤣 yea I can dig it

Best line is without a doubt ; "Hahaha, I threw that shit before I walked in the room!"
My roommate, husband, and I would randomly say that to each other all the time. 😂

sho nuff! i CRACK up every dam time
