As a fan of the game I was stoked about the movie before it came out. I thought it was gonna be a gritty movie about old school gangs fighting through NOT L.A. and then I saw this. I should have just watched the warriors again.
Truth. The original Arcade DD was my favorite game as a kid. I could finish it on one credit, and knew several glitches, even one that could make it give me a free game. How gritty it was made me think it would be like The Warriors, MAD Max, and enter the Dragon all combined...but we got this silly movie lol

Fun Fact: The actor that plays as "Abobo" in Double Dragon plays as another character named "Mr. Bobo" in the movie Cop and a Half with Burt Reynolds. He's got a knack for playing bobos, I guess
I watched this movie a hundred times as a kid. I liked it even though it's cheese. But I have NEVER noticed the Seagalian Karate on Abobo's stats. That is now the best part of the movie for me.
This movie actually killed his career. Oddly enough a stand in for Brandon Lee after his passing. After this he was stuck in straight to video hell. And his performances got worse the longer it went on. Makes me wonder if the movie would have been much different if Brandon Lee did live to be in this. Wonder if it would have killed his career.
One of the movies that the USA network would play at 2am and I'd stay up just to watch every time. To me, the most famous person besides the Terminator was the guy who played Gary in the Weird Science series. (He's the one without bench press stats)

Mark Dacascos is a very under rated martial artist. Crying Freeman 1997 is a great Manga adaptation with an impressive cast. Drive 1997 is an American version of a Golden Harvest film by Steve Wang. China Strike Force 2000 is a fun Chinese Action movie with Coolio.
I don't understand how a person who usually makes such fantastic and INFORMATIVE content can go through an entire video - watching the movie, taking notes, writing the script, recording, editing, etc., while getting one of the main characters' names wrong! Uh, it's Jimmy and BIMMY.
You know it's a cheesy 80's style action film when the woman with the secret amulet is wearing it around her neck out in the open. Not exactly the safest place to keep such a powerful medallion. No? Oh, and those camouflage graffiti suits? Brilliant. Another awesome review. Time to watch, "Double Dragon", somewhere in China. Favorite quotes: "Gonna feel that one in four to seven business days." "Just because it's a tuna sandwich, does not mean it belongs in the ocean." "Do you realize there's a guy trying to interview you with a glow stick?"
What a glorious mess! Another channel I watch just did a deep dive review of 'Brotherhood of the Wolf', which is an awesome film and also stars Dacascos, who is awesome, so it's good to see him getting more love and respect

Not only did I see this movie when it came out... I saw it in the theater... and to make matters worse, I convinced several friends to come with me to see it in the theater. I never lived that one down. LOL
Ok, I was a kid when this movie came out. AAAAAAAANNNND. I LOVED THIS! This movie was for me! I was the EXACT age required to think this was a good movie, and not only did I think it was a good movie, but an AMAZING movie. Mind you, my other FAVORITE movies were in order: Super Mario Brothers, Surf Ninjas, 3 Ninjas, Jackie Chan's Rumble in the Bronx, and Sidekicks with Chuck Norris. With honorable mentions of every other karate and kung fu movie I could get my hands on. But this movie was just [kisses fingers] [muah] perfect.
You shoukd check out Crying Freeman staring Mark Dacascos it's a live action version of an anime movie its a lot of fun and the fight scenes are pretty darn good.

Ninja Power Time is definitely not a bad title. As a matter of fact I am gonna start saying that phrase whenever something of unique skill or strength is required. Usually I just say “By the power of Greyskull!” Whenever I do some heavy lifting. But “NINJA POWER TIME!!” Is much more universal to say?
Glad you got around to a Dacascos movie, even though it was- well, this movie :) His catalogue isn't exactly stellar but there's some entertaining stuff in there. My personal favourite is Drive, from way back in 1997, which is quite a lot of fun and has some genuinely great fight scenes.

It's always funny, watching a movie that postulated wild changes only a few years after it was made. Blade Runner, at least, was looking nearly 40 years into the future. While Double Dragon is certainly no Blade Runner it still expects the audience to buy into the idea that in just a few years, everything is going to be way different. Of course, given the rest of the movie the futuristic aspects (which are now part of an alternate past) are hardly worth noticing, given the supernatural aspects and the considerable differences from believeable motivations (particularly the woman closing the door in order to get blow'd up).
Oh man I used to love this movie and watching this movie recap I find that in a lot of ways I still do. It's one of those it's so bad it's great movies! Can't wait to force my wife to watch it with me... Who am I kidding she could barely get through the original Mortal Kombat movie, and refused to watch the sequel no matter how hard I tried!
O wow!!! The girl is from Rambo first blood part II. Never noticed this when i watched this film. And i did watch this film at least five times or so. I played a lot of Super Double Dragon and that why i did kind of like this one. Same thing goes for Streetfighter and Mortal Kombat back then.
I wasn't going to watch this review but in the thumbnail, I was curious to see who the blonde babe was. I didn't realize it was Alyssa Milano. Hot! Other than that, I'm glad I watched it. I don't have to see the full movie now. The zipper zinger and the commentary on the greediness of the Hollywood tour business were highlights. But now the joy is over and I'll probably forget I watched it.
Honestly surprised no mention of Paul "Batman: The Animated Series, I'm the only reason anyone from the '90's cared about the DC Universe" Dini being involved in this cinematic swampfire.

Of course, given the rest of the movie the futuristic aspects (which are now part of an alternate past) are hardly worth noticing, given the supernatural aspects and the considerable differences from believeable motivations (particularly the woman closing the door in order to get blow'd up).

Oh man I used to love this movie and watching this movie recap I find that in a lot of ways I still do. It's one of those it's so bad it's great movies! Can't wait to force my wife to watch it with me... Who am I kidding she could barely get through the original Mortal Kombat movie, and refused to watch the sequel no matter how hard I tried!
I still think Iron Chef should have used alligator tail as a secret ingredient and called it "Godzilla!"

O wow!!! The girl is from Rambo first blood part II. Never noticed this when i watched this film. And i did watch this film at least five times or so. I played a lot of Super Double Dragon and that why i did kind of like this one. Same thing goes for Streetfighter and Mortal Kombat back then.
Car chases? Boat chases? This was more of a Spy Hunter movie than Double Dragon.

I wasn't going to watch this review but in the thumbnail, I was curious to see who the blonde babe was. I didn't realize it was Alyssa Milano. Hot!
Other than that, I'm glad I watched it. I don't have to see the full movie now. The zipper zinger and the commentary on the greediness of the Hollywood tour business were highlights. But now the joy is over and I'll probably forget I watched it.
