I do think the bike is like a small break, heartrate perhaps lower and your bike-frame is suited to make almost the same run-movement, so it is not the same bike which they use in speed cycling
So deserved! He has worked so hard and is an amazing triathlete. These commentators don't know much about what he has accomplished as a triathlete across the different formats/distances.
The final sprint was madness, digging deep into every step. You could see how bad his form was, Kristian Blummenfelt was using pure grit to push through.
Ironman consists of 3.86 kilometers of swimming, 180.25 kilometers of cycling, before it all ends with 42.2 kilometers of running (full marathon length). Norwegian Blummenfelt , 2021 Olympic triathlon champion , completed the Ironman competition in Cozumel, Mexico in 7 hours, 21 minutes and 12 seconds, setting a world record. Let this sink inn!!
11:30 "What did they hear?" They played the starting sound! Just very quickly after the "on your marks" command, almost like the starter's finger hit the button by accident. There was a boat blocking the other half of the field. Surprisingly oblivious commentary there
yeah i was confused about that, like they thought someone jumped the gun...they all went at the same time because they heard the buzzer, the only people that didn't go were the ones because of the boat...I guess the commentators didn't hear the buzzer because it was immediately as they set? there was no false start, just a big whoopsies because of the boat.
I’m 9 months late but I was very confused myself. That was NOT a false start by the athletes. It was a false start by the officials. How didn’t they see a giant boat blocking the way?
I wouldn't say that Yee didn't give it his all. It's just that Blummenfelt was willing to take the risk of collapsing before the finish line, while Yee is more of a strategic runner. It's kind of like going all-in in poker. But still, hats off to Blummenfelt for that kind of determination.
Commentators can clearly read Blummenfelts body language. Saying he is spent just before he attacks and later 250m from the finish making fun of the aid station sign that he'll not need it for sure and so he vomits at the finish and taken care by the medical service... Congratz to all of them, great race, great athletes!
I live in tokyo and bruh... our summers are brutal... how they did that to me is incredible. I go to the shopping malls which are in this place where you can see in the backgroumd all the time and its fairly cooler cuz of the waterfront but like bruh its hot af here... i sweat just walking outside for a minute so they did all that? Its insane to me
there should be more data during the race. I woulve loved to see what pace were they running, or what speed what they are cycling. The lack of statistics is what makes the olyimpics so boriing for so many people. How hard is to add simple stats?! why are the olympics organizers so lazy?!
I agree. I kept wondering what their running speed was when attacks were made and others were getting dropped. In Challenge Daytona they had running speeds and tons of data.

That false start was a disgrace by the buzzer keeper and boat in the way.
@@aanyaverma8561 what the heck..

@@ruimourato4852 it wasn't really a false start. half the field simply did not dive because the boat was in their way

Maybe they thought every triathlon starts this way. Based on their comments, they probably saw this sport for the first time.

The endurance and stamina needed here , congratulations to all these amazing male athletes👏👏👏
I feel like Blummenfelt won because he was willing to risk collapsing before making it to the finish line (obviously amazing fitness as well).
The boat was still on the path of the swimmers when the signal went off!
That’s why they re started

@@RiversideTobii they probably are obliged to not criticise the games as they're being run since they're their employers hahaha
truly stupid on the part of the starter
@@RiversideTobii Or the Federation responsible for organising that olympic race.
That was obviously the host's fault when they started the race, a boat was still in the path, that moment changed the game so much.
