Damian Warner wrote himself into history books with the men's decathlon win. Warner became Canada's first Olympic champion in the men's decathlon, finishing with an Olympic Record of 9,018 points at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. He became just the fourth decathlete in history to break the 9,000 point mark. World record holder Kevin Mayer of France took silver with 8,726 points - the same as he did in Rio - with Ashley Moloney clinching bronze in an Australian Record of 8,649 points.

For endurance, one could include rowing, which is more taxing on the whole body, not only the legs.

I am seeing a lot of debate on ‘CrossFit’ and ‘decathlon’ here is my opinion. They are 2 different things! Yes they both consist of many events, however they just are different. CrossFit includes a lot of weights and stamina which is why they are a lot bigger than athletes, because they don’t have to run and sprint as much. This can be compared to the decathlon where nearly all events require sprinting. This is why there are stereotypical body shapes on each sport. Let’s admire both sports for what they are and not disregard any due to the other, they are both unique in different ways.

    • @Cousinouf

The former is the world record for a decathlete; the latter isn't, but only because Warner also holds that world record when he jumped 8.28 m earlier this year (he also has the world record for decathlon hurdles).
