Coney's story telling is incredible. I dunno why. Maybe it's the delivery, more than the actual story. But I love it all the same.

Was trying to figure out who Spike was but when he said Kirby kinda gave it away.
Almost for sure right. I was thinking Madman was going to be Sushiman cause he was probably the best Brawl player in NC before Kadaj/ESAM moved there, but he was also pretty inactive and Stingers got to 1 in the power ranking often because of it. Also ROB.

Ok so right, I'm a grown ass adult, but I want to know something Coney: how much do I have to pay you to read me bedtime stories? Literally the best storyteller I've ever heard
I have actually felt that serenity near death. Almost drowned as a kid and felt that feeling. It's a chemical or something your brain releases near death to make you feel okay before you go. Scariest fucking thing I have ever felt ever and I never wanna feel it again.
Ironically it very well MIGHT have been because Coney cheated. If they didn't have that massive fight with Madman, reconciled and went with everyone to Cook Out somebody might have been keeping an eye on the time and wouldn't have felt as obligated to stay as long as they did had it not been for the guilty conscious. If this was just a normal day then it would have just been your bog standard eat after a tourney then go home but because of the massive fight the cool off period would have almost trapped you to stay with Madman to make sure you were cool.
Coney’s such a natural entertainer and story teller, knows his audience, paces it well and keeps everyone interested. I love these story times and I’m sure he makes a great dad
Gonna need a few of these codename characters to come forth so I can thank them for making this story so gripping, regardless of who they are

Long answer: Given context clues, I'm decently sure this tournament was in 2011. Unfortunately, both MD/VA Brawl PRs pre-2012 and the Smashboards post have been LOST TO TIME. HOWEVER ... I have some suspicions.
"Brainy" just might be Logic, who was second on a LOT of the PRs they had. And a hypothetical Kirby player who might get on their nerves who would have an even MU vs. CONEY? How about ChuDat? (He's also a solid candidate for Brainy, honestly.)
As for North Carolina guy there are NO Brawl PRs. I got nothin'. HOWEVER, XDmon in my replies say Stingers, which I THINK I remember seeing the name of. Good job!

The fact that it's even possible to just straight up fabricate results at competitions/tournaments with money on the line is pretty funny. I suppose if you made a habit of it you'd get caught and eventually banned, but I'm sure it happens all the time if Coney and pals were able to do it so easily in this story.

Nah I'm thinking rigging the tournament actually caused everything. If nothing out of the ordinary happened they would've had no reason to go grab dinner with everyone to reconcile and so they would've headed home earlier and sleepy complete the travel safely (I'm probably reaching but thats one way of justifying the relation)
