Everyone says Lori was a wonderful mother before she met Chad, but I bet she didn't suddenly change as people are making out. I listened to a recording of Chad presenting at one of those book conferences. Only listened a few minutes because the guy is snooze-worthy as a speaker. Chad's voice is monotone and boring and we hear that in some of the recordings they used in court. He didn't come off to me as the charismatic cult leader as we saw with Koresh, Jones, Manson, Raniere, etc. Even the other women who were into these beliefs we getting this crap from Lori in her meetings with them. I agree that Lori was disturbed before meeting Chad and just got worse being with him. But she seems to have the charisma to lead a cult. My theory is that Lori is really the one who was driving this train over the cliff and Chad was mostly a passenger. Lori was really owning her goddess status and thinking she had all this power and was using it. He just wanted to keep having amazing sex with the goddess. I can't see any other reason why someone like Chad would ever had a chance at dating a woman that looked like Lori, so he won the lottery and wasn't going to tell her no. Looks like Chad was dating up with his former wife as well, he didn't deserve to be in the orbit of that sweet and loving women either. That's my theory.

And talking about field sobriety testing me. I was 17 and stone cold sober as I'd never had mind altering substances of any kind to that point in my life. I bet anything Lori viewed Tylee trying to protect her brother from abuse as an unholy act of disobedience, or some selfish attachment. She was old enough to speak her mind if she felt he wasn't being treated right. Reminds me a lot of the Ruby, and Jodi case. Separating the siblings from each other. People who can convince themselves their messed up desires are revelations from god. No matter how cruel, it's justified in their heads as a merciful good. She probably wanted to punish JJ for behaviors he doesn't have control over.
So many of these abusive religious parents want to "fix" their kids when they were never broken. Just reacting to psychological, or physical abuse is demonic to them. They had other selfish motivations aswell.. but yea I think they saw Tylee's genuine love for her little brother as a threat that was in their way. I'm sure JJ would've been asking about where his sister was constantly, and why she didn't talk to him before leaving. That would've made Lori mad, and feel like she needs to take back control. Ugh it's all so sickening. My heart goes out to them.

It’s weird that so many people keep describing her as the perfect mother when even the most angelic, patient and loving mothers are never described as perfect. They’re described with the words I listed and others such as, very involved and sincerely interested in helping their children grow up to be good people.
The “perfect mom” was just a facade she spent decades honing. She was performative for anyone who came around. She probably played the perfect mom in front of Charles as well, he seemed genuinely bowled over that she changed so much in such a short period of time. And sure, people can change overnight, however that’s something that happens after a severe head injury, a stroke, a concussion, that sort of thing. Sometimes PTSD can be silent for decades and suddenly surface by a triggering event. But that’s not what happened to Lori.
Lori is some sort of sociopath, at the very least she’s a narcissist. But she’s spent her lifetime doing a good job hiding her real self from pretty much everyone.

Well, I feel moved to say again and again that mental illness is hereditary….you don’t get someone with a personality disorder in a vacuum. Mood disorders are completely different, bc depression and anxiety, for example, can be situational. PTSD can happen to anyone. But to have a personality disorder without a conscience has to involve being a sociopath or a psychopath. The psychological dynamics of LDV’s parents and siblings are unknown….people can speculate.

    • @voraciousreader3341
      @voraciousreader3341 Рік тому +4

@능이백슉 You can’t “raise” a child to have a personality disorder in adulthood. Mental illness is genetically based, but there has to be trauma of some kind to fire the genes, such as childhood emotional, physical, or social abuse, or even a divorce….the child’s personality determines what registers as trauma. We know that the paradigm of “Nature vs Nurture” which reigned in developmental psychology since it’s inception is really “Nature *AND* Nurture”….both are involved. I know a lot of people think the dynamics of psychology aren’t difficult, and they throw a lot of terms around, but the practice is _extremely_ difficult to learn and to apply, which people can see if they look under APA approved programs.

@@22ergieYeah, it's complicated. I was trying to explain it to my brother: "So like, if your son and his gf and had a baby, but they couldn't care for him, so you're like "Im his grandparent [think Kay Woodcock] - the baby can live with me and my spouse" -and y'all absolutely love him, but you know that it's not an ideal situation- so I'm like, "Hey, Im your younger sibling [think Charles Vallow] - Im stable, I have a spouse [think 🤮] and there's another kid here to be his sibling, there's a good educational system here for his particular needs." So you give me your grandchild to raise asva part of my blended family. I formally adopt him, as does my wife, so he is 'OUR son,' but of course, being his grandparents, y'all are crazy about him, and you call and video chat with him several times a week, and this goes on for years. Then you hear that me and my wife are getting a seperation. There is a good chance that the child will end up with me, and if I can't handle that, you will be more than happy to have him back- he IS y'alls grandson. In the meantime, you videochat with him regularly. Then you hear that Im dead because my estranged wife's brother shot me (in the big beautiful house that I was providing for the whole family while I lived somewhere else, because im such an evil guy). Now, as his grandparents and without your brother (me) as a crucial link, you are more determined than ever to maintain your connection with your grandson (I had told you, my wife wasn't safe, something may happen, and that I was signing over my life insurance policy to you, because, my (adopted) son will likely be returning to you if something happens to me. So now, Ive died a violent death, while supposedly doing something way out of character (physically attacking my wife), and you want to make SURE your grandson is ok- on a regular basis, until you can get custody sorted out. Then one day, you can't reach him. There is one strange interaction where he clearly cannot speak freely, and someone else is holding the phone. After that, you don't hear from him again. Your brother (me) is dead and now you can't reach your grandson, who I had been ra
ising as part of my family. After a couple weeks of getting the run around you ask the police to go confirm that your grandson is ok.
I believe the first visit caught them totally off guard. They just said the kids were wherever, and they didn't expect the police come back, not knowing why they were there for a welfare check. They probably felt they had succeeded in assuring them that everything was fine. I believe it was when the police returned a day or two later, that Lori's brother, Alex, was there and told the police that JJ was out of town, visiting his grandma Kay, not knowing she was the one who requested the welfare check. I can't imagine what it was like, to receive that call, from the police hundreds of miles away, saying "Is your grandson by any chance visiting you?because that's where they say he is." Her stomach must have dropped. I'm guessing at that moment, Kay Woodcock and her husband (I'm sorry, I'm not recalling his name) knew that this was not going to end well.
The whole thing is so unbelievably horrific and unnecessary. The Woodcocks, Lori's older son, Lori's sister- they all would have taken both kids. She had so much support. She likely could have manipulated them into taking them quietly and letting her continue to get their monthly checks. She and Chad hurt so many people. From the victims, to the families, to law enforcement, right down to the jurors who can't unsee those pictures, none of them will ever be the same. And for what? Because she wanted to live some carefree fairy tale life with this man- and this man she loved so much, wanted so bad, apparently didn't want her if she didn't come with Charles's million dollar life insurance payout or the $6000 a month she was stealing from the kids.
*Sorry this is so long. It just occurred to me Tylee's dad died in 2018- hardly ancient history- and Tyler had been receiving 2000 a month since then. Do we know how Tylee's dad died? Was it a violent or suspicious death? Or was it legit, but it got the wheels turnin in old Gory Lori's mind?- I wonder.

    2. Why the hell was there no further investigation of Charles' death?
    3. Why did the people suspicious of Lori's demon talk not report her?
    4. How were the bruises on Tammy not noticed by the people that determined she died of "natural causes"? (Maybe the body was never seen though if an autopsy was refused)
    5. Why did Lori's family members not get suspicious, the brother included?
    6. After the kids were reported as missing, why was Lori not questioned more thoroughly then and there?
    7. Why was Alex Cox not investigated more?
All 7 may have prevented some to all of this tragedy.

Only one positive outcome of this horrific story is that world had known Grandpa of JJ - what a hero ! He's the best guy out here. So sorry for the loss... This case is unbelievable and just outta reality to be honest.

Lori's sister Summer had spent years in denial and stood by Lori's side. To see her have a meltdown at the jailhouse call for finally snapping out from denial somehow breaks my heart. I don't blame Summer for spending years wanting to believe Lori. Lori after all is her sister, and Lori being a narcissistic manipulator can easily make her family believe her.

Even if she wanted to believe her, her common sense should have taken over. Lori couldn’t/wouldn’t provide any proof of life. Lori could have provided a voice recording of the kids to back up what she was saying. Summer should have been more concerned for her niece and nephew.

This is usually the culture in families like the Coxes who are image and religion obsessed. Check out the interview by her cousin Meghan. A very sick and dysfunctional dynamic in the whole clan

I can’t imagine the distress she was experiencing when she was given too much insurmountable evidence to doubt the truth anymore. Her brain tried to shield her from that grief for all those years that she was protecting Lori. That phone call ended up being such a significant piece of evidence in this case

@@keepingitnatural7601 Trust me, logic wouldn't work when you were manipulated by a narcissistic person. I have one narcissistic sister in my family and I was one who always defended her regardless my discomfort of some of the illogical things my sister did, but I still believed and defended her at all costs. Took me years to really grasp the reality.

Don’t blame the mother’s evil on Chad. That is nothing but trying to excuse her behavior. They are both equally evil.
I don’t want to hear how perfect of a mother she was from her stupid friends.
And the girl doesn’t question anything about her father being shot?
The friend who covered for them should be in prison too.
The chick who married Alex absolutely knew that she murdered her kids. She was at the little rituals and knew what was going on and then now wants to act innocent like she had no idea what was going on. All of these people need to be in prison.
And the stupid cops don’t even search Chad’s property?

Don't understand yr last paragraph. Agree about Alex's wife knowing. I don't think MG ever believed her friend would hurt the children. There had been ongoing drama btwn Lori + Charles. Narcissist Lori believed she was a victim, not Charles and M Gibb really believed the kids were staying somewhere safe. She was naive yes, but otherwise i agree with u. K

On June 9, 2020, police discovered the remains of Tylee and J.J. during a search at Chad's home. Chad was arrested that day on charges of destruction or concealment of evidence. On May 25, 2021, Lori and Chad were charged with the first-degree murders of Tylee, J.J., and Tammy.
