In this video we unbox the Attec brand Pneumatic can crusher from Amazon. We go over all the tools required and then we do an assembly tutorial. Then we crush a bunch of soda cans. This is the perfect crusher for soda, beer, or energy drink cans. I would not let children use this crusher unsupervised.

😄 You were cracking me up with protecting your junk before pushing the button. I like your priorities sir. 😂
Without those, what's the point!? Thanks Rkunsaw!
would it crush a empty metal soup can?
@@davidjames666 At 120 psi, it should crush a soup (steel/"tin") can down to 1" easily
@@DefinitelyNotSpam Thanks. tho, I wish he would have shown that instead of a full sealed can of soda. why would I want to crush a full can. hopefully he sees this comment and creates another video
@@davidjames666 I mean that would've been nice to see (as it'd give people more of a reason to buy if they were unsure) but this wasn't sponsored, so makes since not to show off everything it can do.
Also, I think he did the full can because if it did explode, it would've been entertaining to see.
I'd actually like to see him make his own housing for it, larger with the ability to crush like a #10 can or something :P
Thanks, perfect timing... I was just trying to think of a great gift to get my wife for Mother’s Day.
Your video just showed up in my feed. I liked so much that I bought both the crusher and the tubing cutter using your links. Thanks for taking the time on the video. It was well put together.
I've had mine about 18 months now and love it. As you shown in slow motion - ALWAYS insert the can bottom towards the piston or else risk getting misted!
i made my own 15 years ago from milled aluminum 1/2 stock . still running solid to this day and it is well used.
make a video
Highly amused at the term "croissant wrench" to refer to a shifter.
On one hand, this looks pretty awesome. On the other hand, needing an external compressor is a deal-breaker for my own purposes. I'm currently using a lever pull sort and considering an upgrade to something powered.
amazon sells an electric version
You could use co2, maybe capture it from when brewing beer 🤔 or an air tank you pump up with bike pump¿
@@gildoubrava5998 They use a considerable amount of air. You'd be better off stomping them the old fashioned way, than struggling with a pump.
Is that wrench editable?
@@davec2891 Or maybe edible? 😏
I made one almost identical to this one from scrap metal I had and an air cylinder a friend gave me. Have about $20 in it. A friend wanted me to build one for him but without the air cylinder it would have cost much more to build. Found this unit on Amazon for him and could not build it for that price. So he bought the Amazon one. Nice video!
Making one is cool buying one is pointless and retarded. Cans are thinner and easier to crush than ever step on that shit.
Industrial automation salesman here.....
If you want to slow that bad boy down and still not lose any force, put a flow control on the ports. You will be able to regulate the speed it extends and your juice will not fly everywhere.
You can still run it wide open as well.
I hope to revisit this thing in the future for an auto can loader, I may have to look into a flow control for timing that! Thanks Dave, for saving my Juice!
I built many of these can crushers 25 years ago still working to this day .
Built one for myself and everyone else had to have one .
Send me one??🤗😋🤗😋🤗
I just bought this crusher and followed your video to assemble it. Thank you very much.
I worked for a brewery for a few years and when canning the beer, the brewers would pull random cans off the line and put them in a vice to make sure the cans could withstand a certain amount of weight. So, it's not surprising that this crusher can't crush a full can when it's putting pressure down on the strongest point on the can. For reference of how strong cans actually are, 1 pallet of beer held 100 cases of 12oz cans with each case having 24 cans, and we would stack these pallets 2 tall for space saving. Each pallet weighed about 2100 lbs.
The amazing things that seem mundane but are actually little marvels all around us. The aluminum can is crazy good engineering!
This sounds like the beginning of a math problem...
2,400 cans per pallet x2 = 4,800 cans on top of 2,400. 12x2,400 = 28,800oz in one pallet= 1,800 lb per palletx2 =3,600 lbs on top of the one pallet. This equals around 1.5lbs per can. And that's with misreading your comment thinking you said stacked 3 high. With 2 high it's only around .75lb per can. Sorry if my math is wrong I'm a little dumb.
I was thinking, not in the elegant way you stated it, but think of all the beer and soda stacked on a trucks every day.
As sturdy as these cans are, I get mad as hell when I drop one and it starts shooting all over the place. I'm curious if the aluminum is thinner than what used to be used?
Bought one of these Amazon Prime Day discount. Identical white part and everything but the button is safety thing with a rim so you gotta shove your thumb down in it. Been looking at a foot pedal to replace. Mounted mine on a 1/2 plywood sheet with a milled down 4x4 block for it to lay on. Added an angled out wedge to get the can to discharge and kick out a few inches into my bag and not fall straight down between the wall and my bag. Loved your humor.
I saw some crushers with the recessed buttons and liked that this one had the palm type. Foot pedal would be good except if you lost your balance while clearing a jammed can and got your hand crushed!
@@HerbOMatic Pokey stick at the ready. I already got a dark red mark on my finger because I reached around to hold when air pressure was low to smoosh them flatter after it refilled.
@@FearsomeWarrior I thought I was the only one that did that! I keep an old screwdriver nearby when I crush now.
Thanks for posting this video I just ordered mine through Amazon I am going to have fun with it thank you so much Jon from Oklahoma City
It's awesome, I will probably break-even on it in 2 years and I can tell my buddies I'm saving the environment, when I really just like tools.
That was hilarious when talking about pre-drilling those mounting holes. Use a "3/16" vs a x/32...I dont have that size so you dont need it👍 - Great instructional video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Randy, work with the drill bit you got, wiggle it around if it's one size too small!
lol the amount of times that has been my thought process at work....
@@HerbOMatic I say the same thing with sex.
Some people might call that 9 and 8 inches. 😂🤣😂. Subbed!
I know it was a dumb joke but I genuinely laughed my ass off at smashing that can with the boxed product. Subbed just for that
I love stupid jokes! Thanks SixStar
i bought the same one from amazon as a christmas present and works great i just bought a different air valve . the kids are arguing about who can crush the cans pretty funny greetings from the Netherlands
I would have gone nuts over this as a kid! Thanks Ger!
I got some of those from Amazon also, about 6 months ago. But I put a foot operated valve on it. Makes it a lot easier. Seems can get about 45 lbs. in a 38-gal trash bag. Still easier than the old can smashers. Just be sure to use air tool oil for the seals about once a week for top performance.
You just saved me hundreds of dollars❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗thank you kindly
Watching the quick succession part gave me chills ...I'd put the hole two button safety switch thing on it ...so bothe hands have to be clear to crush ...like OSHA reg stuff lol
“I don’t like my hand in there.” Proceeds to put his hand and fingers in there countless times. 😹😹😹
Laughed every time you said crossiant wrench and the Philippe head screwdriver hahaha
Tools put a smile on my face too!
That was really cool, and funny! Thanks the original content!
Don't know why me, who lives in sweden, watched a 15 minutes long cancrushing-video because we "pantar" (payed recycling) and get 1kr per can or 2kr for a big plastic bottle. But I enjoyed the video and it looked really satisfying to crush the cans 😊. (if any American friends want to know that's 0.10 resp 0.2 usd and yes it's added to the cost when I buy the beer/soda. Just "pantade" and got 400sek (40usd back).
"Plus all the other residues.." I want to see more of your videos because of your fun attitude! Too many problems in this world. This is my kind of human being. So I am your newest subscriber.
It really shows just how well engineered the drink can is for transport. When opened this machine can crunch the can down with no problem, but while sealed and pressurised, this thing can't even make a dent.
It really does Ned, there is genius all around us.
Or, it shows how under engineered the crusher is. Especially since everyone knows that you can't compress liquids. But maybe that fact went the way of the croissant wrench, or the phillipe head screwdriver.
Till you drop the full can! hahaha
Crescent Wrench 1:03 😂
That's what you call solid advice keep your "JUNK" out of the can crusher LOL
thanks we just assembled our new can crusher using your video...easier then reading their instructions... Thank you
You are welcome Greta!
"6 and a quarter or some might call that 9.." XD
Thanks MC! That's why women are bad with measurements, we are always lying to them!
*13:46** LOL! I could tell from that stance that you were thinking that thing might make a pretty good nutcracker...*
Change out the bottom and attach a grid blade from a fries cutter and go to town making fries!!!😂😂😂
🤣😂 hand over the family jewels!! Got to think of safety first!!! I got to get one of those can crushers!!!!!
Only thing missing from video is really loud music that covers up your instructions 😏 These crushers are fun, just dont leave operational. Mines on truck so I removed the pressure line far end, maybe a keyed\touch pad could be added in my case.
Also people have added sensors and even micro controllers to automate their hobby of beer drinking.
Yes aluminum cylinders are an incredibly strong shape when pressurized.
As far as safety of fingers inside the crusher when the button is pushed, you could either add a foot pedal at a distance over an arms length away to replace the button or add another button plumbed in series with the original one. That way it would take both hands to actuate the crusher, lowering the chances of an operator's finger being in the crushing area when it's cycled. Also, a 20oz red bull has to be pre-mashed a tad before it will fit. I remedied this by adding a spacer between the frame and the cylinder, moving the piston surface back in the frame increasing the loading area. Cans aren't crushed as flat, but its good enough for the effort.
Safety of fingers, use the same method as an electrician working on a breaker box…….
Use only one hand.
Place can, then press button.
The limit on the PSI coming in might be to prevent someone from trying a full can. If the soda can has 60 PSI internally, depending on the area of the ram you are probably putting less actual pressure on the can. If there was enough pressure to overcome the internal pressure, the can would explode and probably sling aluminum bits at nasty speed. The manufacturer of the device probably prefers that not to happen.
I would think so! It puts 473 lb of force on the can so I think the can can withstand a load of weight vertically. Thanks Mark!
It takes around 800lbs of force to do a full can... So that dinky can crusher aint gonna cut it.
@@HerbOMatic I bet if you took the black round crushing disk off and then tried it, it would probably go through the top. The reason I'm suggesting this, is I want to see what happens, and I don't want to have 12 oz of soda all over. hahahaha. I have one of these crushers based on your recommendation. I can verify that this crusher will smash a human thumb.
You are a master craftsman and awesome at explaining things really clearly.
God bless you and your family
So nice of you!
"Croissant wrench" earned you a subscribe
You had me at “let’s see if it works”
It's a wonderful device. I will modify one to do French fries instead.
When you get bored of crushing cans, you can re-use that air cylinder for some personal entertainment for the wife.
I'm LOVING the humor: "6 inches, some people might call that 9" and the Frenchified names of the tools....... w a y c o o l s t u f f !!
Huh, a prox switch to detect the can, a servo controlled air valve, and an arduino to automate the whole business and you'll be on to something.
I was thinking that also. BUT, I also found out that even with the big green button, I managed to smash my thumb trying to clear a jam.
You don't want to use a 3/16ths because I don't have it! PERFECT!!!!
Just a thought, if you pinch the can in the middle it would probably be a lot easier on the whole mechanism helping it to last longer?
Croissant wrench earns my sub
I've found the box welds to be weak at the head end.. seems OK with 100% lateral force but when one side of the welds takes a greater force than lateral, snap! If you have a welder it's an easy repair.
I broke mine after 4 months of use. Was an easy fix. I'm not a great welder either, but a grinding wheel makes it look outstanding, especially after painting it again. hahahah
He said croissant wrench 😂
If I had something like that it makes too much noise where I'm at in the apartments life but great video
I want one I pick up cans all the time
You were really crushing it. Awesome! I will be buying one from you on Amazon with the addition of a foot peddle to go along with it. Thanks for the demonstration.
Awesome, thank you! When people buy through the links I get a few bucks, hopefully we can grow this channel into a job so I can focus on making these videos, it's a blast.
@@HerbOMatic I'm handicapped from a severe stroke and not able to use my left hand. When I saw your can crusher I knew that was something I could surely use. If you want to use your channel to earn a fantastic income I found that packaging products for customers who like what people are showing how they made something (DIY) is qiute lucrative sir. I'm having to learn how to speak again and when I am able to I will be marketing on youtube just like you are. Good luck Herb-O-Matic. I wish you well sir.
I use the heel of my boot, I also use a rake instead of a noisy backpack blower.
Cresent wrench!!! It's not something you eat for breakfast!!!😂😂😂
Does the lip that will aid amputation have to be there? Surely the can will still be crushed? Maybe you could try the alteration?
Thanks for sharing.
Michael (from Scotland)
I made one of these 10 years ago. I don't bother anymore since I just toss them in the recycle bin that is picked up weekly now. The parts have been repurposed for other projects.
Croissant is a food. Crescent wrench is a brand of adjustable wrench. Lol hahaha 😂
multi-16th is for 'merica
just sayin' LOL
This was hilarious 😆
Yeah it kinda was
"Some people call that 9" 🤣🤣
Yep! Cover the goods!
Idk why but I want one now
Maybe you can make a hopper to load the cans so you dont have to worry about your fingers.
Wonder if you could modify to make a reloading press.
Yuuum, croissant wrenches
Awesome little crusher! Now you need to build a can feeder and find a way to continuously switch the air
That's one of my future video ideas. Something that makes it very fast and mostly automated!
I was a millwright for 201 year's and you are hilarious with some of your stuff 14 is the same as a 9/16 use calipers on them and then tell me that!!!
Love that sound
Required components: double-acting cylinder, 5/2-way manual reversing valve, air pipe, iron plate groove, and fixing screws, bolts and air source.
I like it, and ordered one! (Used your link, hope you get a few $)
Nice.,,, love your humour.
LOL your awesome i do the ball guard when i do sketchy stuff to
Without them, what's the point of any of it?
I have 1 awesome machine other than needs longer air hoses
Funny lol, size drill bit you need us this because I dont have that one lol subbed because of ya humor thanks for the laugh
great video ,and commentary
Can't compress liquid just likee in an engine you get hydrostatic lock or simply bent rods and trashed bearings.I got one of those can crushers ,mine doesn't have the raised button my is flush harder on thumb or finger, tried crushing soup cans don't work on steel cans
Modify it to become the next “Veg-o-Matic!”
This baby is down to $60 now. Unfortunately in Maine, with a 5 cent/can redemption, we can't turn in crushed cans. It's a huge waste of money trucking whole empty cans and bottles.
Felip and a croissant? Wtmf it's Phillips and crescent!
Hi! Nice video. What is the bore of the cylinder?
Awesome video😂, and the shirt!!
Can you try to crush metal can to see if works please? Thanks
It would not work well because it only has 473lbs of force. I will try next time I process my aluminum cans.
6 and a quarter. But some people might call that 9. 🤣🤣😂🤣
Pressurized water doesn't reduce the volume like air does.
Mmm Croissant 🥐 wrench
Nice video exploration
@13:44 protect the tenders bro!
Will it crunch soup cans
It's much easier to just throw the can's in the garbage, sorted ? James Stewart, UK
I have the same shirt. Cool build.
I love that stupid show! "Unlimited paper in an increasingly paperless world"
What size compressor would you recommend for this. I'm able to figure out from the product details page the psi needs to be at least 100, but what about tank size and cfm? Sorry I'm not about to invest $1000 in the best compressor just for this thingy. Money trees don't grow very well in San Antonio, TX.... I hear they do a bit better out in Odessa.
do you need to buy tools for assembly or are they included?
i like how when someone intentionally leaks their addy everyones chilling and if someone is trying to hide it and it leaks people show up with machetes
I didn't know this was a cooking class 🤣🤪🤣 crescent wrench is a croissant wrench!!!
I just want the hydrolic off it lol looks like I could make a nice digging device out of it 😊
I bet you could convert it to make French fry from potatoes 🥔😋
Croissant wrench 🤣😂🤣
Do you have a air compressor to make that work
Now you need to build an automatic loader.
That has been swimming in my mind, the bomb shelter has priority now.
Will it smash empty plastic pop/soda bottles? Great viddy!
I'm wondering for old oil filters
I wonder if it can be used to reload bullets, especially the 50BMG
