Built 2.5! The k is seriously a much better designed engine though. Wouldn’t say the 2.5 is exactly a refined motor especially when you start removing balance shafts and adding cams

Beautiful build right there - Kpowered miata must be such a fun drive! Looks like such a pleasure doing this swap with the Kpowered kit they've thought of everything it's like building a lego kit with the guide. I would love to do this with these guys' kit. Shoutout to SA as well for continually bringing excellent content and always trying to think of new ways to change it up and explore new formats for thier videos. Love you guys and wish you had the recognition you deserve - should be a 1+m subscriber channel for sure!
Love this channel. I’ve got a big shop with a lift and all, but watching your videos, I’m sort of wishing I had installed a sloped floor/drain set up. Watching you guys wash stuff inside is a pretty big benefit. NC Miata’s are my favorite of the Miata series. Hearing that they’re a shorter wheelbase version of the RX8 (don’t like them, but know they handle like a dream) makes it a no brainer. If I didn’t have TOO many project in the que, I would head down this path. Cheers to SA and KPower.
Enjoyed watching this process. As far as I understand, and I’m no engineer, I think that Helmholtz resonator tube before the muffler is supposed to be as close to the headers as possible, otherwise the resonant frequency still exists in the exhaust pipe all the way up to the point it meets the resonator. So it’s potentially doing very little. You can package it further up using a wide chamber connected to the exhaust pipe with a narrower pipe. Maybe no other packaging is possible but it does sound like it could be annoying as an OEM+ option. For track I guess it’s whatever.
Does the Speedo work?👀🤔 I thought the K-tuned guy said that the Haltech would retain the CANBUS stuff in the cluster. Either way, sweet video as usual my spin-o-rama Bros💪🏆
Not sure why it wasn't working in this video, likely just an incorrect setting in NSP that we missed as we rushed to not lose the shop! But generally speaking, the speedo DOES work on this swap
@@kpowerindustries8210 thanks for your response. I'm one of those guys that must have everything working out else i get a feeling of cheapness and that will bother me to my core. If the OEMs can do it, why can't we? You guys did a great job with the swap. 💪🏆
$10,800 for the kit if you want to retain AC. NOT including the price of a K24 that is 205hp. I'll take a Duratec 2.5 swap with 175 and 174 trq. For at least 1/8 the price. If you wanna get wild, cam it, tune it and turbo it and it will make more HP and if you blow the engine go get another one out of a Fusion for 400$. I love the K-Series and this ultimately has a higher power potential, but seat time and consumables costs money.
Fab9 tuning makes a turbo kit for $5700 which makes 275-450 wheel HP. Yes, you can make more than that with a Turbo K-series. But, nobody in their right mind is gonna rip on a 2400lb car with over 450hp. Plus, your going to run into issues with the stock trans and Diff at that point. Like I said, the K-Series is a better engine, but the price of consumables and other supporting mods could be upgraded for the price difference.
I recently purchased a ND3 GT 6-spd manual and I love it, but I plan to keep it pretty much stock, except maybe a Goodwin exhaust and some upgraded anti sway bars. I'd love to build an NC like this one someday, so I can preserve my ND3 for the street and also have a built NC for racing.
very nice build and collab, enjoyed seeing the specially engraved parts for it. seems like a really nice amount of power for the chassis! GLTC when? >.>
In 1993 we bought a year old Accord. Great car. Drove it 150,000 trouble free miles. In 1998 I bought a 95 Miata. Said many times "that accord engine would be amazing in a Miata". (and that was with a LOT less HP than the more modern versions). Back then the FWD to RWD was a stopper. What's changed with that to let you use either?
16 hours for this is possible with two experienced techs using a lift. An average backyard mechanic is probably looking at 3-4 weekends with a buddy to help not including the AC recharge and alignment. However, your mileage may differ depending on your own conditions. I want to see a cam’d 2.5 retrofit. I’m sure the K24 is superior but the 2.5 is more financially approachable.
Love the video guys always a banger and is always awasom seeing local guys doing big things. Doing a kswap on my NB miata, been struggling to get it running right but I'm so close(i hope).
auto-blip and clutchless upshift are sweet. Can you go over how to configure that with the electronics package? Did not find enough info on their website.
I would have preferred seeing a built MZR 2.5 swap instead of a K series since that's a way more popular swap on these, but I know you guys like to Honda-fy every car. Still liked the vid.
Such a beautiful build! This is the sort of engine the NC deserved from the start. OEM engine is so lethargic and the car feels bloated compared to the NA/NB generations. The added power and torque would make this an absolute blast to drive! Just curious, being the car was completely gone through and rebuilt, was the chassis stitch welded or any added bracing installed? I also noticed how hard the shifter turret flexed on wot pulls. Will you guys be adding any stiffer bushings in the rear to hopefully tighten it up?
Hello Speed Academy. I think you guys should do aircooled 60's/early 70's Porsche 911 with homology in mind. Those things are well appreciated today if they are in good condition
Im surprised you didnt drop a mild cam in there. Up the fueling a little and you could see 280 maybe. Though! My biggest shock was no Koyo rad upgrade ;)
I'm not sure why the Swap? The 2.0 motor will happily do 225 bhp with cam mods. With Headwork 250bhp. Plus the Mazda motor is all alloy so is pretty light.
I would love to build a K NC, but I had some budgetary limitations so I 2.5 swapped my car in the meantime. Maybe in a year or two when I want to go big HP while staying NA
