Crave + Rhythm are fantastic and compliment each other really well
I was actually about to ask. LOL. I have both and was going to ask if its worth bagging both. I found a star Leapord3 max weight with no name on it a few weeks ago. I am having a hard time in picking which discs to bag. I need to make room as ive ordered some new disc to fill other slots in my bag.
I started bagging it last year and I love it. I bag 2, I have a “domey” fission which is more like a -1.5,1 and I have a plasma which is like a -1,1.5… I love it. Especially in the woods.
Well, for a beginner that just got his first Fission Crave yesterday, this is great to hear!
Crave flies really well! I just can't get used to the feel of it, I'm more of an FD guy which I think is fairly similar in flight.
Yea I love the new DM FD. Still need to try an s-line.
Yeah the FD is also a great one!
Crave is my very first ace disc!! Amazing disc! Rhythm by axiom is awesome as well
100% Agree. Comes in practically every plastic. Good for every level. Torque resistant for forehand and just bombs. If I did not love my Crave, I would use an FD or a Passion. Never been a big Teebird person. Tried a few and they never clicked.
A well seasoned Teebird is what has a lot of people sticking with Teebirds! They just beat in super well and the fresh ones are great for consistent shots and winds!!
@@ApolloDiscGolf Had a DX and it fell apart quick. Tried a Halo, but the Crave is just better. Tried a GStar, but all it wanted to do was flip over. I gave up
It came in my pdga packet and I held it and thought “never will I be able to throw this thin slanted rim” and it’s now my #1 disc in my bag. Flies as straight as a putter or midrange but pushes almost as far as a high speed driver for my ~350ft arm.
I love my craves! I bag a fission and plasma and will probably always want to have one in my bag. I also love the Rhythm.
Give the MVP Servo a try for a disc with very similar feel to the Crave with a more stable flight. (Might be a good Teebird replacement for some.)
Crave and rhythm are the chiefs kiss
I rarely play disc golf, but hoping to play more this summer. Watched this and realized I already have a Proton Crave! Used it maybe once. 🤣🤙
I've been really trying to like my Fission Crave but i just havnt quite figured it out yet. Its just more stable than I exect it to be.
I prefer the Servo in this slot but I've only thrown a crave once or twice
I’ve used an Essence from Discmania since I started and I think it’s very comparable.
The Essence is great! Same with the FD
I have a 158 neutron crave, I use it for hyzer flips to straight and some small hyzer to turn over with a small finish at the end, honestly one of the farthes most controllable discs in my bag. Just picked up a proton 171g, and it's definitely more over stable, but I think it will beat in and hold its stability longer than the neutron one. Every person I've handed my crave to has loved it.
Try the fission one. It moves more of the weight to the outer rim. I love it.
@curtisridenour once my neutron gets too flippy I'll pick up a fission. Heard they beat in really fast?
@@jschalburg23 I have not noticed much change in mine. I bought it in June and play twice a week.
For me, the Crave and River are the same slot. For sure the Crave is a great disc, especially for low power players, but if you don't like it, try the River. For beginners, maybe a 160-165g River. Definitely includes forehand.
For me, the River doesn't forehand near as consistently as the Crave. It is a little more 'domey', at least the discs I have.
Yeah the River is also great!
Cosmic Neutron Crave is STABLE, perfect complement to the Fission Crave. Plasma seems to be right between those 2.
I wish I liked the Crave. I've tried it and it just doesn't fit my hand. [I have the same thing with the Buzzz, though.] I love the River, though, which is the other great comparable option. That slot is so underrated. It teaches you to be smooth and develop touch.
How is the Crave compared to the Stig?
Stig is more understable and can be overpowered if you push it too hard, even with a hyzer release. Crave will handle the extra power better, but Stig excels at those tweener distances or when you want it to keep drifting right. I bag both, personally, and find it's not hard to choose between them for a given shape/distance.
I agree. I bag 2 craves. 1 sarah Hokom (less stable) and a neutron(more stable) Ive almost gotten to a point to remove my FDs out the bag.
The crave is also my most thrown fairway by far. It’s awesome for woods golf since it’s a smaller rim, but goes farther than most fairways. Actually hit the gap on hole 5 at WR Jackson this past Friday with my flippy crave.
So sad about WR Jackson. Pros love it. You are lucky to have played it before it is changed forever.
1:25 first time ive ever seen anyone not hit that tree off the blue tee
Well you didn't see the other throws 😂
I ended up with a batch of craves in different weight and plastics. Each wildly different than the other. From flippy roller disc to mini firebird. The only one I've kept in bag is the mini firebird version, completely unaffected by wind just like a firebird too. So these reviews where a Crave is being discussed, it is hard to relate to the results exhibited. Other than the baby firebird, I'm left feeling the Crave is very touchy and unpredictable.
How would this compare to the newer FDs? I throw a mostly MVP bag but haven't found anything to replace my FDs.
I am working on a video comparing the two! They are pretty close!
My cosmic Neutron Crave flies like how Pros throw teebirds. It fits my game as an extremely straight flyer with good fade at the end. It’s also the my favorite disc to forehand.
My 160g R2 pdga grave does what your under-stable crave does and it’s a perfect compliment to my under stable fairways and my overstable ones
I love my Leopard3 it would take Innova going out of business for me to change. Lol
2022 barsby eagle for me
My favourite fairway is a 2nd hand Innova made C Line FD, which unfortunately is hard to find a backup for.
I was disappointed in the new FDs by comparison missing the turn from factory and I'm yet to try the Dark Rebel as a comparison.
Otherwise can we class 9 speed as fairway? The C Line CD1 for me is perfect for my slight hyzer release, popping up to flat and holding turn for 300ft then finishing in the last 50ft almost dead straight.
I have accrued 7 Craves since I started disc golfing 3 years ago. Honestly they are pretty inconsistent in terms of stability but still a great disc. Cosmic Neutron Crave is like a lightly seasoned Teebird. Proton is slightly less stable and then Neutron in the middle and lightweight fission for the most flippy. For the longest time I could throw the Crave further than any other disc but now my 9 speeds edge it out just a bit but the Crave still is the best for 30 feet less distance than my 9’s but much better accuracy. Barely any turn or fade on them. It’s like a 7 speed (6.5 speed actually but same rim size as other brands 7’s) putter 😄👍
Trick question. Beginners should only be throwing putters until they can throw those about 300' if not more. Then mids up to 400'. Then something like a Maverick after that.
Clash smokes this thing any day but they stopped producing them. Sad. But that being said crave is the best flippy shot disc for turnover back hand shots that still finish towards the middle. Lower arm speed players will definitely benefit the most.
I have a 168 fission crave and it is overstable. Flies like a shorter version of my champ thunderbird. I may give a different one a try. Neutron or proton?
My problem with the crave is that I seem to get almost no fade at the end of the flight. I keep expecting a slight fade but it just keeps going on the same path. Every other understable fairway I have has some fade at the end. The flight is just not what I'm expecting from a fairway driver.
i saw the title of the vidoe... thought to myself if he doesn't say crave is the best hes 100% wrong casue i throw that around so much at every course i play!
TL3, and various degrees of beat Teebird3s cover pretty much every shot between 315 and 415 feet for me. They just fly soooo strait that even Backhoof is just the same strait shot over and over again.
No OG Teebirds?
@@neo5047 nah, I have a couple perfectly seasoned eagles at the 7 speed spot, but they shape differently than the TeeBirds, flexes or skips. The TeeBird3s let me stretch the flight and extra 50 feet compared to the teebird without having to worry about it burning over.
To be fair, I think I actually throw a seasoned c-line FD for the slot he's talking about here.
I forehand hyzer flip fission craves. Rock fission craves and rhythms
Explorer/River/Maul combo is unmatched .
I wish they would just make it a 7 speed so my brain wouldn't burn cycles about what a 6.5 speed means. I have been really liking the S-Line FD. The thing bombs. But forehanding it can be an adventure. So then I think maybe I'll bag a crave as well. Or instead? I have a few craves, but I pulled them from my bag when I realized I wasn't ever reaching for them. But maybe it's time to give them another shot.
You can always just cross out the 6.5 and put 7 speed... It's basically the same thing 😂
@@ApolloDiscGolf ha for sure. There’s nothing rational about it. 100% an irrational, emotional hang up.
Never heard of a plus rim but I get what you’re saying. Interesting
Your Teebirds are weeping 😢
I'm honestly surprised how easily I was able to replace my money echostar teebird with these!
Good TeeBird replacement, Discmania Instinct
IMO you could've forehanded a Buzzz for any of these
I bag a neutron and a fission crave. Awesome disc.
I love my relay better it's more consistent it always flips up and turns while staying flat. The crave might turn might not or even glide way left. Now the crave is way better on 4hand. My new swirly rim proton insanity is more stable then the old runs making it perfect for standstill 4hands thru tight fairways 3to340. PYRO for 2to300ft.
I've had 3 craves lost 2 ofem. And when I got my stock neutron relay not no turtle stamp. A real max weight Relay. I took out the crave but it is my backup if lose my relay. My cardmates in a tournament I played said please don't throw that MVP disc bc I kept parking every hole with it
does the crave replace the teebirds in your bag?
How does this compare to a c line FD for you? I love my Fd (a little flippier since I’ve beat it in this year) but I expect it flies almost identical to a new crave. Are they overlapping discs or do you feel they’re unique?
It's been a while since I have thrown the FD, but they are pretty similar if I remember correctly! It mostly comes down to feel and preference imo!
Crave is a unicorn disc. So unique and so useful.
Thoughts on the crave vs the new stock S line FD which I mind to have that dead straight if not hyzer flip straight to left to right flight?
I haven't thrown the S-Line FD's yet... But I would guess they are pretty darn similar! With the FD being deeper in the hand!
The Volt is literally perfect though
I joined the PDGA this year and they sent me an R2 169g Crave in the player pack. I threw it one time and knew immediately that it was the best first disc for any player. It flies on a rope forehand and backhand. NOW, black discs are ridiculously hard to find and beginners and us seasoned vets don't need that nonsense. How bout bright orange or pink next time PDGA? The crave went into my bag immediately and I lean on it heavily.
my hands are definitely not large but shallow has never been a fun disc to hold for FH. Great example older run flicks, Those felt super weird for being a dominant FH disc
Crave + Rhythm + Resistor = the only fairways you'll ever need.
That being said if you have a more advanced throw, the Servo gets slept on a lot.
Through the Fireball for you Firebird slot! Of course I got it in proton for the extra stability 🤙 and I bag a Cosmic Nuetron Crave. It’s the only one I have so while it might be more stable then other I would definitely not say it is over stable. For me it’s my tunnel straight and low flyer. Super quick and slight fade to the right or left. SUPER reliable. I’m right there with man. REALLY love my Crave
how far are you throwing it?
I bag 3 craves myself. Use to just be one neutron but i threw it into rough building about 3 times(not on purpose 😳). So now thats my flippy one. Added a proton and a patent pending proton. The patent pending is the more beefy one.
The Crave is my main fareway driver and probably my most thrown disc. I currently bag a beaten-in 166g Neutron and a heavier new Proton :))
I bag 2 craves, but I could see that number go all the way up to 4. Lovely disc.
My proton Crave is the second most flippy, slightly more stable than my fission.
The Crave in Neutron plastic is the most versatile disc in this beginners bag! The first disc my local store ever recommended.
My Mint Freetail would like a word with you....
I definitely need to try more Mint stuff!
If you have a chance, you should check out a servo! It's currently a disc from the circuit challenge and it's got a lot of similarities to the crave, but I found it to be a bit more stable!
I'm loving it. I got it a couple weeks ago. I use a ball field for practicing my throws, releases, different grips, etc.
On the course, nearly perfect for setting up the putts from the fairway.
Banana van crave poggers
Crave, River, or Maverick. Such great discs!
All solid! Along with the FD
Clicked on this thinking mine would be the Crave. 11/10 no notes.
Glad to see the crave love as a fellow baby hander I love the feel my favorite disc really since day 1
Supreme Escape > crave
Crazy how no one talks about Legacy Rival and the icon plastic.
I will be sure to talk about that one in the Teebird comparison!
@@ApolloDiscGolf Nice! Legacy used old eagle molds for it anyway, but the plastics are just better imo
For me that's the FD
Have you ever tried a Dynamic Discs Maverick? I used to throw older Discmania FDs but to get the runs you liked it always costed an arm and a leg. Since getting my hands on Mavericks, the feel is very identical and it's straight hyzerflip city with them. You can get the Lucid-X for more stiffness and stability but it's my new go to money disc right now.
Yeah those are also solid! I never clicked with the feel of them though!
Love the videos man. Servo might be a replacement for a teebird slot but they can get overlappy with Cosmic Craves and more OS craves. I honestly think Fission Volts will fill that Teebird slot best if you feel you need it. I run Terras and Craves. Terra beats into the Teebird slot and Crave goes from there.
The Terra's do feel really nice! I have yet to throw one yet!
As a disc dyer, the Crave is one of the top requested discs.
Love my Crave.
True dat
Actually the best fairway is the explorer
That's a weird way of spelling Teebird... 😂
@@ApolloDiscGolf lol 😆 word
Crave & Servo are a nice pair
Man still hasn't tried the Striker. Still a good video.
Starting to give up hope for a newer review video of the Striker at this point 🥲 (Gold line one. Or Opto-Ice. Not regular Opto.)
I literally just got a few Opto-Ice Strikers in for the store to try because you keep mentioning them! So I will be trying them out soon! 😂
@@ApolloDiscGolf F*CK YES that made me week right there! My man. Dave Feldberg would be proud. 🫡🫡🫡
@@ApolloDiscGolf I'm guessing you didn't like it or at the very least love it as there has been no content about it here or in insta 😅. Darn
@@1andonlyMiro I haven't had a chance to throw it yet! There has been a lot recently! I will eventually throw it and it will most likely make a video! Don't worry!
Thrown 3 Sarah Hokom stamped Craves, all near max weight. They come in at about 6 5 -2.5 1 if that is what you're looking for. Very touchy, but good for noodle arm beginners first disc. Big miss for a pro model though. Her Traces have the beef.
The Hokom one works pretty well for me! And I have been throwing it around 330-350!
