Jonathan asked me to say..."Buy Fuse." 😉
The Fuse is solid!
Nice review of these discs. Seeing the disc profile is so much appreciated.
I’m hyped for the detour and the trail from the Conrad line. Both will likely make my bag, hopefully the trail is like a 10 speed crave 🤞🤞
That’s what it’s looking like!
And the Cypher! Been looking to replace my Eagle
I litterally lost my perfectly beat in Roc3 yesterday in the Snow. and this video came up today. Definetly trying that out.
Thanks for another good descriptive video. That line about being like a perfectly beat in ROC3 really hit the spot for me in understanding.
I'm tempted to get one because I REALLY don't want to lose my MindBender!
Yeah it is so good. One thing I have noticed is that it just wants to glide so effortlessly. Reminds me of a faster slightly more understable Watt.
Truth fits this slot for me: super comfortable, great control, good distance and beautiful straight lines. It's also the first mid like this that is not too touchy either.
Great disk. Parked mine recently through a double mando at our local course.
I like the little fade that it has at the end plus you get some decent turn out of it, that's basically the perfect mid-range. It looks a tick more stable than my kastaplast svea and a tick less stable than my fission hex.
I think people gravitate toward the high speed drivers because of the perecption of potential distance. They see the disc go far for pros and assume it will help them too, even though pros can throw a wham-o 400. I wish companies could market "potential distance" numbers for skill levels so that new players would grab a fairway and not a Destroyer. Stoked to try this disc. The "Trail" looks like it will be awesome too.
As a discmania origin-lover, I can't wait to try this disc! Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon
Yeah it is very close to the Origin! I would say its more on the stable side of Origins! Like a Midnight Prowl 2!
The Detour is so good! I am a buzzz SS thrower and the detour kicked it out. It just hunts for the chains. I love it!
I was skeptical. But I’ve been throwing if for 2 weeks now and it’s MONEY! I hope the stock runs are just as good.
This is my bounty.
I use the tursas and midnight prowl 2 for that spot
The Tursas is a beautiful mid range!
If you have a chance to try the Streamline Echo side-by-side with the Detour, it would be worth the trip to the course. (The Echo comes stock in Neutron, but there's also a soft Proton version in the OTB release from this year.) Very similar numbers and flight, but a few bucks less.
Been throwing it next to my Origin and it's very similar, the Origin is probably just a bit flippier
I have a 2 year seasoned emac truth that is a money slightly understable mid
Thanks for the sensible advice. As a newbie, my head is spinning from trying to understand it all. But this type of straight forward advice just makes sense. Looks like I'll be adding a Detour to my bag. I also LOVE your logo.
Yeah good choice! That and playing with not many discs, like 10-15 max. Good luck out there
Streamline echo was the gap filler btwn hex and uplink. Would like to see a comparison if you have one
its trash
I have thrown it a few times. I was surprised how understable it actually was. It was a lot more similar to the uplink then I would have liked.
I feel like most people have had an opposite experience honestly.
Yeah my Uplink is super flippy compared to the Detour I got!
@@jimmyblundell7600 interesting. I'll have to throw them side by side and see. Mine is a weird color that I have never seen anyone else get too so that could be part of the reason. It is like an orange and brown and yellow type color.. really weird.
People gravitate towards fast discs because they think that there is some magic disc that will go 400+ for them. Its like a shortcut to being good
I can’t wait to compare this to the midnight prowl 2 which is my most and best thrown disc. Also miss your videos!
I think reviewsers saying this disc will teach you to disc golf if overdone
This disc is the reason I can't wait for the trail cuz it's supposed to be similar dead straight and bombs
Calling out form cause it's 'too flippy for my arm speed' bs 🔥🔥🔥
I guess I'll go look up the flight numbers. Gave up after 8 minutes.
How does this compare to the MVP Reactor?
How would you say the detour compares to the Mako3? This seems to fly just like mine.
it's very similar! I would say it's a touch less stable? but also depends on the Mako3! They are very close!
I'll be honest, your comment about the dome makes me less excited. I love how shallow and flat most of MVPs discs are. I dont know of its because I have smaller hands or what but shallower discs are just better for me. Hopefully I dont find this to feel too much deeper than the rest of their line up.
Yeah people would either love or hate the slight dome on it! I'm on the side of loving it
Such good advice.
Looks similar to the Discraft Comet, I'm a big fan of the Comet.
Yeah! it's been a while since I have thrown a comet... But yeah, they would be very similar! Completely different feel in the hand though! That would definitely come down to feel preference
Wombat is similar.
Doggo!
People buy more drivers because they lose more drivers.
That's a good point!
Big caveat for playing with just this type of disc: you will be extremely frustrated for a long time. I’ve been playing for the last month with just the Trash Panda Dune and Inner Core in my bag for this exact reason. It’s hard, like really hard, but when you do get a clean release and you start to pickup on the smaller details your shots start to feel better and more purposeful. Still, I have a long way to go and many more frustrating rounds 😅
DD said they tried to make their mids feel similar but, beyond the EMac Truth, Truth and Claymore, the other mids start to look and feel quite different, with beads and sharp rims, etc. The look of the Hex, Detour and Uplink is very compelling. Good review.
The pyro feels like the same disc for me as well. Having an overstable, straight and understable mid that all have the same hand feel gives me so much confidence.
The verdict and Tursas also feel similar. That covers all the slot that you need
A bit more overstable but I like the feel of the Trust from L64 if you're wanting a good mid from Trilogy. Nice plastic, no sharp rim or big bead.
If you ever get a chance to throw the now extinct MVP Vertex. That I thought was a very underrated, understable mid range. I have a few of them since they don't make them anymore. Awesome disc!
It's kinda funny how so many manufacturers push the distance drivers because that's where the money is because the companies push them. I honestly think a part of the rise Latitude have had in the last couple years is down to how much they push the Fuse. I totally agree that a slightly-understable mid is the ideal learning tool. I used to be a "they're all so flippy" guy struggling to hit 200', then smoothed out the form, started hitting 250' regularly, and...struggled to turn them nearly as easily.
Great video! Go Chiefs!
Thanks for this video. Really enjoy your perspective on the "speed" purchases.
Also, you HAVE to try the Brave from the Royal box. It’s a 7 speed version of the Detour.
Seems like MVP made a mako3 finally
Yes its very similar!
this disc looks like it will replace my most thrown disc, dx roc, when it finally explodes. really cool that it flies like a seasoned disc right out the box
I have the Detour and it kicked the Fuse out of the bag! Great job James Conrad.
I take my dogs to daycare too. I love hearing when other people do too! Give your doggo a hug from me ^_^
Waiting for the new Detour drop, thanks for the review.
Can’t wait for the stock release. Been wanting a Hex that flips up more.
Too bad it's stuck behind a pay wall. The only way to get it is to buy the box
It will be a released as stock soon! So it won't always be behind a paywall!
@@ApolloDiscGolf yes I can't wait!
I agree with this! I like using the Z Buzzz SS for this slot!
Something like the BuzzSS?
Yeah! I need to throw a BuzzzSS again! It's been too long! But I think it is very similar!
Quickly becoming my favorite disc in my bag!
This or the buzzz ss is what every new player should learn on.
James Conrad makes great discs. Love the Terra too.
Really enjoy your videos man, thanks 👍
Throw origin if you want a cheaper disc 👌
I have a slightly beat in Gateway Element in this slot and it's easily my most thrown disc. Especially with a lot of wooded courses around me anything from 250-325ft that disc is probably coming out. Understable mids are goated.
The Element is so good!
It's already my favorite mid. Slotted right between my Hex(which doesn't show the -1) and my Uplink. I'll probably add another in a heavier weight when they are more readily available.
My mids are pyro, hex, uplink. This definitely might fill the gap I have in that setup.
So a hair more stable than the Mana/Lobster/Creature MVP contract produced discs with the same flight numbers?
I haven't thrown any of those, so I am not sure!
Axis is a good one. Too bad out of production
what's crazy is this detour is marked as 5 glide but it feels like a 6 glide. amazing distance on this!
Yeah this things goes VERY far!
color grading on point here
I am kinda of curious how it compares to the mana from TSA? It looks like a similar flight.
I throw a lot of manas, this is def a tick more stable.
I haven't thrown a Mana, so I'm not sure... Sorry!
how does the Detour compare to an Origin in terms of stability? (or Fuse)
I would say its very similar to the Midnight Prowl 2, so on the more stable side of Origins!
nice! that'll be fun to test out. I have a Neo Origin that has nearly zero fade at the end which is a turn-over machine... I just was loaned a MP-2 to test out
but my straight mid is a hex, so :)
Looks like an Origin to me.
Yeah it's on the more stable side of Origins!
instantly kicked out the uplink
Yeah I can easily see myself bagging these for my understable stuff!
My best comparison is that it flys like a beat in KC pro roc but it is out of the box
Try all the discs you can with your budget and/or borrow a friends. Just because its speed is "above" your arm doesn't mean you won't be able to use it. I think this is a giant disservice i see in tons of videos. I see a lot of AMs stopping at a wraith because youtube told them to. They can certainly get good shots out of even a boss. Not all fast discs fade into the dirt right away.
The side-by-side comparrison shots are 🤌 it shows the flight difference so much better than rushing multiple shots in a row. Great video and production quality!
Thank you! 🙌
