  • Was 2000 The Best Year For BMX? That's todays question as we watch the Props BMX Best of 2000 and install some new/old parts I just got for my Mid-school Standard STA 500 build. The year 2000 featured all the best innovative riders of the time including legendary riders like Mat Hoffman and Dave Mirra and there were so many more tricks and riding styles than modern day BMX but this is just my opinion so what do you think?

These are some of my favorite videos. I am 35 now and I was heavily into BMX in the early 2000s. I can agree that 2000 was an amazing year for BMX. Mirra was the GOAT.

I've been riding since the mid 80's, and lived through all the era's of bmx. The 97-99 era was such a fun time. We didn't think bikes were heavy til 2000 or so as frames started getting built lighter. The jive handles on the defcon bar were late 80's grips and would literally chew your palms up. This bike reminds me of my all black S&M next generation dirt bike build I had in the late 90's. Building those bikes looks like old fun, enjoy.😊

I had a set of those pedals in about 2016 when my bike got stolen... They were SUCH an upgrade from everyone's preferred Odyssey Twisted PC pedals. My bike now is a resto mod 2009-2010 Eastern Reaper; 28/10 La Guardia Sprocket on a Hazard Lite + Primo Hub rear wheel with black and white alternating spokes on polished aluminum rims. Front rim is a primo complete rim 36 spoke, blue to red metallic fade frame paint job with 2k automotive clear, and a KMC Knight chain. Profile Powerbite cranks and odyssey twisted PCs with bed liner painted on them for extra grip.. And industrial grip tape on the top of my MPEGs for added grip for peg manuals.

Yup I still remember buying those T1's back in the day as they were all the rage. That's back when picked up riding again in my early 20's after not having rode since my racing days as a kid in the 80's & 90's. I still have some parts like my Standard ® 4-piece Stripper Bars and Primo cranks and some Primo Hulla Hoops rims with hubs, Tech77 lever and box of stuff. Wished hadn't donated to a buddy or lost most of it over the yrs as would have had great collection.

Scotty's knowledge about BMX is insane. Dude is a walking encyclopedia. He should open a BMX museum showcasing the history of the sport. I bet he has one of the best video collections out there, and he can tell you what trick happened in what video in what year. What a legend......

I've got a federal Division 2002 and I've been cleaning it up and changing tyres, and the chrome. I'd love your chrome wheels and stem on my fed. The standard is amazing with the chrome. Don't change

Early 2000s riding has a unique look to it since the bikes were all 35-40 lbs or more. They had an inertia to them that made everything slower.

I have my '00 Haro Nyquist backtrail in my basement right now. Got it in 8th grade and now I'm a homeowner. BMX scene in 2000 was insane.

We weren’t no weight weenies back in the day but looking back if my bike wasn’t a tank I could have done so much more. I road my old Dino way better than my “professional” custom bike

I always wanted a trail boss back then, they were so heavy though for street but I just really love the style of mid school freestyle bikes in general.

  • @Citystead

I was always a huge Hoffman fan, but I think in 2000 Nyquist was pretty awesome dude used to have sweet looking no handers
