No complaints but as a restaurant professional myself I'm just interested in how they turn a profit at that 5 dollar price point? Salmon is quite expensive??
That's another way of looking at things.... Well hopefully this brother can sustain his operation and continue to bless the community with his tasty offerings!!
Salmon is not expensive if you're buying the cheapest farmed salmon. You can probably find farmed salmon for $4-5 per lb for bulk salmon. That looks like a 4 oz portion of salmon. Rice costs nothing and 1 side only compared to the other meals. You could make that meal for under $2.
My thoughts exactly. In the natural, the price points are not enough to sustain a business and plan for emergencies. If he has employees, there is no profit.
first video ive seen by you but salute putting a light on people changing their communities on the ground level! this what its all about. peace & blessings
JL, Like what you do for the neighborhoods of Philadelphia, good for you. I would like to see it grow, but sometimes it doesn't work that way; folk get greedy; hope that doesn't happen, but we have to learn we are in this together! I hope we learn to improve the neighborhoods!!
I work nearby and decided to try it out today. Food appears as was shown in the video. My coworker and I purchase two platters. They stated the shrimp tasted good. My platter included fried fish yams and mac and cheese. For $5 I feel the food is tasty and will satisfy my belly for a lunch meal. There are no condiments added or offered. Only drawback is recent internet activity has increased the demand. There was a huge line and wait for food for lunch. They need to develop a better system and consistent messaging to expedite orders as well as take orders
That's what's up 👍 So I went to Taste of Soul in Burlington, NJ and I'll just say everyone's food palate is diffrent but Ms.Nancy very sweet and compassionate lady I'm returning just because of that ☺
*Ok for all the people saying he's cheating himself. No! He gives one scoop of veggies, one scoop of Mac and one piece of fish. Probably cost $2 per platter to produce. $3 profit. Then you have to think. When people come in the aren't buying just one platter they buy several. He's definitely a marketing genius. He's getting money hand over fist this way. More customer's=more $$$$$. If you know, you know.*
He has to pay for seasonings, the food needs to go containers, the storage and the ability to prepare all means electricity, it’s a brick and Mortar so he has to pay for insurance just for people to come in and sit down, the gas and insurance for a vehicle to go back and forth to the store to get everything, cleaning supplies and the monthly lease; now these are the monthly expenses after he purchased a Refrigerator Freezer Pots And money for repairs of a stove or plumbing if needed and after all of that I didn’t even mention his Labor ( He deserves to be paid at least enough to pay rent..) @@chaneljohns1625 Chanel, stop that. 🙄he's getting that and more. Like I said when customers come in and buy several platters and you have to stop and think it's not much food on that patter. The normal cost of a platter is $12 average. He's charging 5 so he's literally putting half of the amount of food in the platters! Of course when you make money you invest back in your business (rent , bills, etc. And guess what babe psst! In case you didn't know certain things in business you're able to write off in your taxes. I'll teach you more later.

@@amagambrah4248, overall, the food was good. 1). I ordered 1 fried fish platter with macaroni & cheese, and greens but they were out of greens so I ordered green beans. 2). 5 piece fried Shrimp platter with yellow rice and green beans; however, I guess they ran out of Shrimp because they put 3 Shrimp in my mom's fish platter and never told me that they ran out of Shrimp...and instead they gave me 3 pieces fried chicken wings platter, which was supposed to be 5 piece fried chicken wings with sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese in place of the yellow rice and green beans without asking me. 3). 5 piece fried chicken wings but was given 3 piece fried chicken wings with macaroni & cheese and green beans.

Hey JL!! For 5.00, that's a steal frfr!!. I gotta head down there!!.. Question 4 u, Have you ever thought about doing a Cheap eats review. Maybe go to a local spot and see how much food you can get for a certain price point?
Overall, the food at Lavish was good and a great bargain, so I will probably frequent the restaurant again whenever I visit Philadelphia. On the other hand, I was somewhat disappointed due to the fact that I did not get the food that I ordered especially since me and a friend came all the way from Pennsauken, NJ. I understand that the restaurant was possibly unprepared for the influx of people after JL dropped the video on UA-cam; however, I Strongly believe if the restaurant owner ran out of food such as: fried chicken wings, fried shrimp, greens, green beans, seafood salad, and yellow rice, etc., please inform your customers about it instead of substituting different foods based on what the restaurant wants and/or has because people do have food allergies! Also, we were told that the platters had 5 pieces of fried chicken wings and 5 pieces of fried shrimps only to find out that after we left the restaurant and checked our platters in the car 🚗 we only had 3 chicken wings and 3 shrimps, and the fried shrimp that I ordered for my platter were placed in the fried fish platter that I ordered for my mom.
Absolutely AMAZING idea! Lavish is doing big things and may God bless you and your establishment! Such a blessing to those who may not have a lot of money to eat out! 🙏🏽🙏🏽 GOD has big things in store for you all!

Shout out to Drexel University class of 2000... and i wish this had been there then. YOur intro, YOUR VISION and your enthusiasm... got me. I am a new subscribers. Inlove to celebrate our culture. Keep finding the gems!!
No complaints but as a restaurant professional myself I'm just interested in how they turn a profit at that 5 dollar price point? Salmon is quite expensive??
His profit is feeding the people who need a hot meal, his increase is coming, God is good.
@@msmilliej4898 that's right!! Amen
My thoughts exactly. In the natural, the price points are not enough to sustain a business and plan for emergencies. If he has employees, there is no profit.
first video ive seen by you but salute putting a light on people changing their communities on the ground level! this what its all about. peace & blessings
Am I the only one that saves every location in google maps ?
JL, Like what you do for the neighborhoods of Philadelphia, good for you. I would like to see it grow, but sometimes it doesn't work that way; folk get greedy; hope that doesn't happen, but we have to learn we are in this together! I hope we learn to improve the neighborhoods!!
Salute broski always bringing the good food content putting us on 💯💯💯💯🙌🏾
I wish we had one over here where I stay at
The food looks so good, I'm definitely gonna support!! Thanks JL 👍
They already took their phone off the hook!!! Lawdy!! Lol
That's what's up 👍 So I went to Taste of Soul in Burlington, NJ and I'll just say everyone's food palate is diffrent but Ms.Nancy very sweet and compassionate lady I'm returning just because of that ☺
What’s good y’all! For $5 👀 Oh Wow!! Hell yeah! I’m on my way Asap 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾
That’s a lot of food and looks delicious. I’d feel bad only paying $5… I’d have to add a generous tip. More than worth it!
He has to pay for seasonings, the food needs to go containers, the storage and the ability to prepare all means electricity, it’s a brick and Mortar so he has to pay for insurance just for people to come in and sit down, the gas and insurance for a vehicle to go back and forth to the store to get everything, cleaning supplies and the monthly lease; now these are the monthly expenses after he purchased a Refrigerator
Freezer
Pots
And money for repairs of a stove or plumbing if needed and after all of that I didn’t even mention his Labor ( He deserves to be paid at least enough to pay rent..) Right.... or No?
@@chaneljohns1625 Chanel, stop that.
Beautiful Woman don’t forget about the drinks and desserts
@@fmack8397 what about them? If he sells them I'm sure he has a price for them.
Absolutely. It is all about the numbers. He is not losing.
My daughter got 2 platters, fish & chicken and both were delicious. Can’t wait to get that seafood fried rice. Thank you JL Jupiter because we didn’t know about this black owned business.
Another GREAT video!!!!!
Next time I visit Philly, Lavish will be my FIRST stop. Thanks for enlightening us!
Got me holding my phone tight 😂 😋
LOL!!! :))
Man no bull, your videos are inspiring, when i first started watching your channel i was working week to week an getting inspired to travel, but at the end of march work an my finances took a huge lose, now im homeless. Im not helpless by any means but you put me on to places that have good food for an affordable price is the best. Good lookin JL hope your blessed!
Its 5pm. They sold out of food. I'm pissed and late for work. I'll try again tomorrow.
Razzbaby Jam, be patient. They more than likely received a ton of business from this, some other people said they went and there were long lines. Glad you went to try to support the brother, wish I lived there.
God Bless the owner for taking care of the community... peace & blessings to you
Ayo that’s my barber shop ... Tone is my man ... Very cool bull ...
It's all right on for the price. All that's missin is the 2 slices white bread, salt, peppa ketchup, like Ocean city use to sell, way back in tha 90's....you hand picked your piece fish, and, chucked down some raw clams while your platter was shapin up....now THATS a throw back y'all... all props to LAVISH 215, only in my hometown, PHILLY. .♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
JL Jupiter, Me and a friend are here right now from Pennsauken, NJ, so I will let you know how the food is when we get back to Jersey and eat.
How was it? What did you order?
$5.00 soul food platter?! And everything looks so good too! This is unheard of... God bless this Man & wishing him much success.😋🤤😋🤤😋🙌🏽
Looks so delicious and very affordable. Godbless the owner
The food looks delicious , may God bless you and success with your restaurant. The prices are very reasonable. Maybe 9 or 10 years ago you could buy a meal for 5 or 6 dollars but not any more. You are helping people that don"t have much money to buy a good meal. God bless you.
Much love and respect JL thanks for this video I'm going to support ASAP so tell lavish I'm coming peace and blessings to all 💪🏾💯💪🏾👍🏾
Y'all that live in that State, support that brother, Prichard Alabama representer!
Can I have some LOL you always find the best places. I love to see you eat.
Omg..the crunch from the chicken...the salmon, broccoli and rice. Fried fish..some mac and string beans.... On my way back up to PA.
God Bless them, wow.
Let's eat JL family
This too awesome, I really hope that this restaurant make a big profit, and success! You have people selling dinners for $20 a platter with hardly anything on it! I hope everyone in Philadelphia support Lavish Restaurant! God bless you!🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hey JL!! For 5.00, that's a steal frfr!!. I gotta head down there!!.. Question 4 u, Have you ever thought about doing a Cheap eats review. Maybe go to a local spot and see how much food you can get for a certain price point?
JL Jupiter is The Game Changer! Love the way you support local businesses.
I'm on my way down there now.
How was it???
@@amagambrah4248 I drove down there to park and the line was really long so I drove pass. I will try another day.
All 3 of the platters looks really good $ 5.00 is very affordable. Stay safe! Be blessed!
Yes finally I was looking to see who else had something different than what he showed in his video
@@ernestanderson1535, overall the food I had was good in spite of them getting my order wrong.
Absolutely AMAZING idea! Lavish is doing big things and may God bless you and your establishment! Such a blessing to those who may not have a lot of money to eat out! 🙏🏽🙏🏽 GOD has big things in store for you all!
JL you gotta start putting some hot sauce in the stash box my G!!!!
What a Saint to help out his community like this. I would eat there almost every day.
