Writing this for the benefit of anyone thinking of doing WGU at an advanced pace. This week I'll be finishing my BS in Supply Chain and Ops Management. I transferred in a general business AA that covered by general ed and basic business classes, so it was half way done, but I did the second half in 7 weeks.
Strategy:
Objective assessments: take the pre-assessment, then learn what every single term means in that pre assessment. The key terms are constant, but questions aren't. One issue you may hit like I did is that sometimes the key terms covered on the pre assessment are different than the objective assessment. However, if you came in solid enough you'll still pass. If you absolutely bomb certain categories of the pre assessment, go into the course material and take unit and section quizzes to learn the info and key terms. Never assume you weak category will be covered by your strong ones.
Performance assessments: Just like the dude says, just break down the rubric. Cover every section completely, even if it seems blocky and silly sometimes. Personally, I'm good at papers, but there are also powerpoint and excel assessments. For each, it will still ask for in depth explanations of things, so I always wrote a paper and copied and pasted relevant sections into presenter notes.
Time: I work as a CDL yard driver, so I had some downtime and would do my pre assessments, studying key terms, and performance assessments at work. The I'd schedule the post assessments the next day.
FYI: If your goal is to achieve a massive depth of knowledge from scratch, WGU is not for you. If you want to promote in a field that you already have knowledge but not a degree in, WGU is for you. Personally, I found that I knew a lot of the material, but not all of it. In my case though, my best choice was to finish and promote quickly, but I will be going back and ordering books to deepen my knowledge of topics I scraped by in.
Good info, although I do feel like I'm gaining a lot of information by reading the course material in the business management courses so far.
Hey Logan I’m proud of you brother. I think I am going to enroll soon and follow your route. I’m already a warehouse supervisor so having a bachelor degree is going to help me immensely within logistics and warehousing
Thanks for this post. I'm in the process of enrolling in SCM and was wondering about the process for classes. I have an AS so all my gen Ed stuff is covered. I'm just looking to finish the remaining classes by Jan or Feb, from a Sept start time.
I beat you kid , 2 months 75 units ITM Bachelors degree ... Lol , but seriously , You really motivated me to give it my all, and showed it was possible !!! Thank YOU!
Did you transfer credits in?
@@Queatl1 yeah I transferred about 45 credits
ITM is BS ? Like would it count as bachelors in science?
@@TheGeekSheekfrom where ?? Any tips and are there any certs for that degree

Every school should have this process. WGU is solid. My daughter took her time but did a WGU software dev degree in 3 years and it was still very inexpensive paying one set fee per semester. She got a good job in IT immediately after graduation. The coursework includes 5 industry IT certifications that double as classes. WGU is nonprofit and accredited. This is the legitimate way, it's the drawn out 4 year expensive degree designed for profit and professor tenureship that is the scam.
This was one of the best value videos I've ever seen, I hope to see you go far!
Thank you so much!
Ok, so why does this ONLY have 799 subscribers? This man is the most knowledgeable I have ever seen and after spending two years at WGU, his tips are SPOT ON! I wish I, at 64 would have had this knowledge when I started. Don't discredit his information because he is younger. If you do, it is your loss. SUCH INCREDIBLE pointers that it took me several classes to understand. The advice on the rubrik is SO TRUE! Great job, Kevin! You are wise BEYOND YOUR YEARS!!!
Right! The game he gives🎉
Great video, great advice, & straight to the point ! 🙌

Starting in May. I’m going to put this to practice. Thanks for sharing!
How has it been going thus far? I start in July
Hi Kevin, Thank you for share your experience
Thanks for this video! 😊
Awesome video bro. I hate when schools say your own pace then the spring some deadline on you
Good advice. Thanks for sharing!😊
12:14 not sure what you meant by "you'll just know," but all the rest are very good tips and helpful advice!
Young man! I transferred only 9 credits, 111 credits to finish lol, you just gave me more confidence in completing my bachelors in less than 6 months! Good recommendations and congrats!
How is it going so far?

Glad you enjoyed the video!
ahahaha "Wtf is walking???"

I'm thinking about enrolling to WGU and your video helps me understand how the course objectives are structured. Thanks man.
I'm hoping to take it next month and get my B.S in Software Development.
Got an update?
@@freonsp Yeah, I just passed my intro to python programming class and I'm starting the javascript class.
@@RickOnPlanetEarthhow was it? I’m thinking of doing the same but can’t choose between software development or IT? Thank you
depends if you want to be a developer or work in IT, based on my limited experience with both but also other people in both fields i know of, IT may be easier to land a job in post graduation, though the pay starting out and long term will be a bit less than software devs, 20-30% less? also the IT degree might be easier to do.@@smurfo3000
Thanks, Kevin. Be well!
Starting July 1st with just 20 classes to take. I transferred in 48% of the 120 credits needed. Thank you for this informative video.
I’m also starting the finance program July 1st with about 41% transferred in. Goodluck!!

Great explanation
Hi-thanks for the video, none of my credits could be transferred over, I will be starting in Feb 2023, but I do wanna accelerate fast because I already work in the field of my degree, so I do plan to finish within 6months to a year. ** FINGERS CROSSED**
How’s it going so far with the program?
I'm curious what the outcome was for you after finishing this degree. Job prospects, salary, graduate education prospect and ambitions, work to life balance, etc.
agreed!
😂😂😂😂😂 finishing a degree that fast how do retain the information?
Thank you Kevin.
Thanks bro!
What are the objective assessment (final exam) multiple choice questions mostly based on? Is the course book the main source? Do you think if I just study the book I will be okay?
Finally someone I found who is straight forward to the point and does business what I’m looking for. Thank you for sharing your experience, I truly appreciated. I’m planning transfer my AA to business. I’m wondering about the test score if affect your gpa when BBA is completed? Congratulations u nailed it !
Thank you! You don't get a GPA at WGU because everything is Pass/Fail, so as long as you score at least a B or higher on your test, it doesn't matter what the exact grade is. My final transcript just says "Passed" next to all the classes and doesn't have a GPA listed anywhere.
@@kevinrbarry can you get a masters degree later on?

Hey nice tips and congratulations. Since you finished before the 6 months term, did they give you your certificate or they waited until the end of the 6 months term?
Glad you enjoyed the video! They sent me my diploma as soon as I graduated, I did not need to wait until the 6 months were up.
@@kevinrbarry whoah that's a good school. They're smart
Great vid are u like a normally smart kid or do u think using online quick notes about each course and P.A by craning fast. Are u straight out of high school also
I definitely do consider myself to be quite intelligent and a fast learner. That said, being strategic with speed in mind and cramming for tests definitely were essential to getting through college so quickly.
Yes, I did this straight out of high school. I graduated high school in June 2021 and started WGU in September 2021. Thanks for the support!
Hi Kevin, currently at 15 classes done on Sophia, for the business management program, that means I would have to finish 25 at wgu. I’m definitely going for speed…I would love to connect with you outside of this platform for questions and tips. Thank you so much for this video.

How many classes do you take for the Business Degree?
Hey man question, so you only transfered in 6 credits. So no pregame like other yt videos have been suggesting. Just enrolled, focused and banged them out? You just have to pass a final exam and/or final paper? and there's a pre assessment you can take and retake?
If a student completes the program before the six-month term concludes does a student still have to pay the tuition in full at the time of completion or can they still fulfill the six-month payment plan?
Tuition is flat rate ($3752 currently) and due at the beginning of your term.
Could i complete the b.a then use that to skip general education through going to a brick and morter?
How many hours a week would you say that you spent doing school work?
please how do i get full scholarship at WGU?
The fees is too much in the Ghanaian currency 🤦🏻♂️
How many hours a day did u spend in school to finish?
Do you take multiple classes or take one at a time?
Nice T-shirt 👍🇧🇷
Theoretically tho, if I were to do WGU, and finish 99% of the course. Could I transfer those units to a random university and take the last class and “graduate” there?
Colleges usually require you to take a certain amount of their own classes in order to let you graduate there, like at least 25% of the credits for example
In addition, WGU grades are pass or fail... there's no letter grades... therefore you'll be limited to schools to choose from.
@@ajade1224 I think they count it as a 3.0
Can this Credit is valid for US CPA Course credits?
Does someone know a school that offer the same program for canadians (or international) residents ? Unfortunatelly, WGU is for US citizens only.
Thomas Edison University
SNHU, UMPI
wgu accepts canadians bro
University of the People
I'm going for the same degree, but please tell me how is the career outlook?
hare they pre assessment test open book?
My question is, how much time did you put in every day? Also, were you financially healthy where you did not have to work? Because I work 10 hour days, commute at least 2 hours and barely get home and try to put in at least 5 hours a night during the week and 8 hours on Saturdays. I feel like it is taking forever.
It will be easier if you look at the benefit of a big salary big paychecks
@abdirahmanhassan2910 I already make over $100K. I am just looking at moving into management
Damn, how many hours a day did you put in. I need 22 classes for business admin IT management

Did you transfer in any ace credits? How many hours per day did you study? Where you working?
How much was the Bachlors degree after all ?
Also the exams are monitored where you have to share your screen or can you be on Google and searching answers ?
During proctored exams, you have to share your screen, and be on an external webcam. Before you start, they have you show the room you’re in with the webcam
i think its great, but a small piece of me wonders how much scrutiny WGU will get in the future due to these insane speed runs. This by far is one of the fastest i have seen
Its a non-profit so I doubt
@smdjuhurr9474 they still have to answer to their accreditation bodies. But I'd say this competency-based approach is definitely helpful for the working-class. And, to be frank, as long as they meet the requirements for education content and testing they'll be fine. WGU is accredited by multiple higher learning bodies btw.
I would like to connect with you if you have a chance, I’m currently completing Sophia credits now then starting business administration. I’m in for the speed.
He is pretty on point with most of his suggestions.
Best of luck Ismael! If you have any questions, you can put them here in the comments section.
Spend time on the reddit subs for WGU
How long will it take me if I finish a 2 year AA degree at community college then transfer to WGU? I remember WGU said i will have 22 courses left to get a bachelor degree if I transfer with AA degree
Because it’s all self-paced, there’s no straight answer to that question. It depends how much time you put in and how quickly you can absorb the content of the course. It’s definitely possible to finish 22 courses in one month if you are a full-time student.
@@kevinrbarry are WGU online classes hard for you?
I never had much trouble with any of the classes, but the classes do all take some work as you have to learn the material and pass the final assessment.
@@kevinrbarry can I retake the final assessment without retake the whole class again? What proctor software does WGU use?

Kevin, is it possible to earn a degree in 6 months if your not transferring any credits?

Can you get a bachelors and masters degree in library science in 6 months?
At WGU, no. Even if you finish your undergrad degree in less than 6 months, you have to wait until that term is over before you can start grad school.
Let’s say your term is March to August. You finish all your courses in May. (Woohoo you!) The earliest you can start another program is September.
How much money need for it?
Why you didn’t show your degree?
How many pages are the essays.
They vary per class. There’s no page requirement, only a competency requirement. Answer the prompts with supporting information and you’re golden.

How many times can you retake the test? Is there some sort of penalty?
You can take the test (objective assessment) twice, after that you must pay a fee to retake it after that.
Did you get a job??
So are you being watched as you take the tests or can you look stuff up on google as you’re taking the tests?
A proctor watches you through an external webcam. You also share your screen with the proctor throughout the whole test.
you can't search anything only, whats wrong with you
They look around your whole room you are taking the test in before you start to make sure you have no second screens or devices that could help you, they have you position your webcam so they can see your face and body and keyboard so they can see what you're doing, they also make you share your whole screen, so they would immediately know if you tried to google something, they also look at your task manager to make sure you are not running anything other than what they tell you. I'm sure someone somewhere has found a way to get by with something, but it would be damn difficult and not worth the consequences if they catch you
