It’s just me and my daughter but hearing your perspective and how you were able to keep going with moving, job, kids etc. gives me hope. Btw, its ok to spend more than six months. This expectation actually leads to a lot of issues with many of the program mentors who deal with students having false hopes for how easy or fast this degree is. The disparity in expectations has led to people dropping out.
    You did a speed run. Unfortunately a lot of folks will interpret this as a get-rich-quick scheme, which is kinda fair considering how many influencers push this program as a get-rich-quick scheme.
    Edit: couldve said that more nicely

      I made the degree a very high priority in my life and wanted to share how I accomplished it. It's not a get rich quick scheme, I'm certainly not rich lol. But I am in a much better position in my career now than I was 6 months ago.

    I love how no one is mentioning that he had EXPIERIENCE...
    Realistically with no experience, as someone who just enrolled in the program....
    If you study 3-4+ hours on the certs being A+ , Network+, Security+, Project+, CySA+ it will take you no shorter than 8-9 months.
    The rest of the course will probably be done in 2-3 hours a day at the end of each cert studying method.
    So after that, that is around 4-7 hours of studying a day, with gaming breaks, and a 2-3 hour break in between......
    It will take you 1 year at the bear minimum.
    This is if you want to understand the entire program and be proficient in each subject.
    This is not meant for someone who isn't a problem solver, who gets hot-headed over a simple issue.
    The fact is that this degree is hard, and you need to be committed.
    Personally I am finishing 4-5 classes a term plus 1-2 certs which can equal about 6-8 classes a term
    Meaning I can finish in around 1.5 years or 2.
    Because I plan to make projects, study well. Finish what I know and learn what I can.
    6 months is with experience. 2 years is without experience.
    For the vets out there, use VR&E OR CHAPTER 31 TO PAY FOR THIS SCHOOL AND THEN USE THE POST 9/11 TO GET A MASTERS!!
    GOOD LUCK AND SEE YOU IN 2 YEARS.

    I'm starting in Oct. I have transferred credits from my Associates, and I"m somewhat computer savy, though no experience with pen testing or cyber security. Would I also be able to finish in one term?

      It just depends how much time you're willing to put in.

      @@cyberproaustin what i mean was is there a way to test out of a class?

    • @cyberproaustin
      @cyberproaustin  9 місяців тому +1

      @@M_santana26 you can't technically test your way out of a class. However, there is no required amount of material to take before your first attempt at the assessment at the end of a course. If you pass it, you pass the course and move onto the next one. If you fail, your instructor will give you a required amount of material to go through to get your next attempt. That usually means completing the entirety of the course material.

    The issue with this is you speed run 4 years in 6 months yes you got ten degree but now you have to gain the hands experience and more I just don’t see why speed it!

    • @cyberproaustin
      @cyberproaustin  8 місяців тому +4

      To save money. College degrees aren't hands on experience either. Even if you have a Master's degree in Cybersecurity and no experience, you'll still be looking for an entry level role.
      A degree in tech is essentially a box to check off for HR. I'll never be asked about a degree again. Also, since I didn't take years to complete it, I'm not paying off debt along with it. Now I'm gaining experience the same way anyone else would, but I'm debt free and already graduated.
