@@v8ramair145there’s is a BOP in GTE or GT3 you cannot compare a car with a BOP and an unrestricted car. In this case compare it to the AMG GT3 unrestricted in bathrust which was 4 sec quicker than a bop gt3 so would be easily 8sec quicker on Le Mans than the current gt3lm

Secondly, "stock car" is a style, and comes in many flavors: hobby stock, mini stock, street stock, late model stock, NASCAR Xfinity stock cars, and NASCAR Cup stock cars. All it means is that they are based on a standard production car body. It doesn't mean that the car itself IS stock. And none of that changes the fact that there is no such thing a "a NASCAR" since NASCAR is the sanctioning body. You wouldn't say that someone is driving "an IMSA" or "a WRC", would you?

Despite the new NASCARs being built with road course racing in mind I feel like the older gen cars still produced better racing on road courses because the cars were (by nature) garbage at those tracks.
I'm watching this in awe because I've tried this very thing myself and it was so damn hard getting that thing around the track. I think I've had one successful lap ever and it was nowhere close to that time

The issue is that the teams don’t own these cars, NASCAR supplies the cars and the teams assemble them. Meaning if some team wanted to test the car unrestricted for a theoretical top speed they wouldn’t be able to, they don’t own the car.

They aren't 4-speed cars anymore, nor are they H-pattern. They're essentially heavier, slower V8 Supercars at this point, and they really should've gone with a modified TA1 car instead of the Gen 7 we have now.
2014 was the last pure year IMO. 2021 was the last year of Gen 6 with the 4 speed. They're now sequential 5 speeds with much more mechanical grip, lesser downforce (compared to Gen 6 peak) and very restricted low hp, which to me is disappointing.
@danw2112 A lot of DNFs due to bent axles, broken tie rods, and a blown engine or two, because this track will wear the cars out faster than COTA potentially could.
The real Nordschleife has actually been repaved 2 or so times in the past decade, so it's a lot smoother than iRacing's rendition of the circuit.....but you're probably right 😂😂😂😂

What I would love to see would be the early 80's Winston Cup cars, back when they focused on ovals and only ran two road courses as an afterthought. They still used bias-ply tires too, so they slid around A LOT more than on today's radials. Seeing someone manhandle one of those beasts around would definitely be entertaining.

Ever since iracing introduced the nextgen cup car into the game, I've been curious about this too. Its a shame they dont have the proper aero packages though, I'm confident that the extra couple lbs of downforce the road course aero package generates irl could have shaved at least 3 seconds or so off that lap time, especially thru the second half of the ring.
Was this done by just cranking the difficulty on an ai on iracing? If so the result is guna be wrong, when making the ai more difficult in iracing after a point they just give the car more grip
Used to race Suzuka Japan back in the 90s have Dale Earnhardt t from there Bought at Chevrolet dealership in 98. One flawless and one worn and yellowish Hard Florida water. This would not happen these days. Would love to see how The current and classic stock cars handle the Nordschlief.
Yup! I just purchased this car and started practicing tonight. It took around 20 restarts just to get to Aremberg cleanly, you have to be super gentle on the throttle and brake SOOO early! I've got a LONG way to go, my only clean lap was a 7:22 hehe.
As someone apart of multiple IRacing leagues, I'm extremely curious what setup was used on the car. And could i get it? It looked very stable for a car that should drive like poo around the Nurburgring.
This might be a trainwreck but I'd be interested to see how a modern Indycar in oval trim would stand up to this (possibly with the gear ratios from the road course trim so it's not trundling around in 2nd for most of the lap).
This generation of Cup car is slow. 2-4 seconds per minute slower than the prior generation, especially 2014. In my opinion, NASCAR no longer caters to having fast cars, their priorities are restrictions for compeitiveness.
@@v8ramair145 I think you're right, but when the cars go faster, they hit the walls faster. There's only so much impact energy the SAFER barriers can absorb, and even with the best design, the human body can only take so much. NASCAR started restricting speeds at Daytona and Talladega back in the 80's (which has created its own monster of sorts), so it's really nothing new.
The thing about going faster down the straight is you go slower through the corners and the chance of literally roasting the rear tires off the corner. No days the rarely have to brake on 1.5 mile and above. Give me 900hp thats what made a cup car a cup car.

A regular cup car is not suited for this, now the Le Mans Garage 56 cup car can pull it off.

The new cup car is way under powered. If it had a 2014 cup engine it would be running 240+mph down the long straight. 670hp today versus 950hp in 2014
