I never seen a series masterfully put the viewer into every character's shoes like Andor. The anxiety, tension, stakes, danger, uncertainty, paranoia, sacrifice. Wow! 😂
This was by far my favorite episode of Andor. I mean the whole series itself was phenomenal...brilliantly acted, expertly written, compelling storytelling. This series was like liquid gold. I loved your reaction to this episode. You rock!
Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch are great for exploring certain complex concepts and relationships in a more direct and obvious way, so that even younger viewers can easily understand and enjoy, while older viewers can take deeper meanings as they will. Andor is great because it explores those complexities more thoroughly, achieving its goals using subtext and nuance with no wasted scenes or dialogue, challenging the audience to pay close attention to every word, action, and emotion being presented. Andor has fast become my favourite Star Wars show ever, and if they can maintain the same standard for the 2nd/final season, it will be something that I’ll be able to rewatch again and again, just like the OT.
This EP wasn't just top tier SW universe it was one of the best of any TV series.... Watching now through your eyes still gets me emotional 😭 just EPIC and listening to your thoughts was great.❤
Loved Tara’s constant outward breath whooshes, due to her holding her breath for so long during the most intense scenes (of which there are so very many in this episode). Was definitely in the same position during my first viewing.
Taras death was stupid because, how did she survive shot in the belly for so long without being knocked out?. ALSO she could defibutely throw that grenade you know.
This episode in particular is a masterpiece, my favourite of this incredible show. And all of the stories in it are about the same thing - Sacrifice. Kino Loy knows they're surrounded by water, so even if they overwhelm the guards and escape their cells he's a dead man. But he also knows that if he sacrifices himself he can get the others free, even if there really is only One Way Out for him. Mon Mothma has a choice to make - let the rebellion die and protect her daughter from a horrible custom of her home world, or sell her child away. How much is she willing to sacrifice for the cause? Lonni has spent years working his way through the ISB, making a legendary sacrifice for the rebellion, only to be told his sacrifice is not yet over. And then there is Luthen, who sacrifices everything to fight the empire.
Tbh thst one scene put Lonni Jung in my favourite characters, hes actually very interesting, looks like someone from OT with his mustache and is played by great actor, i will be actually sad when he dies which is almost certain.
Probably the greatest speech in Star Wars. The heart break of realizing Keno's life is over and then contrasted with Luthien giving his away, both in a way for the same reason.
@@thatnerdtara My head canon is that somebody helped him to the shore and he got away, but we don't know. It's nice to see Star Wars proving it's NOT just a kid's show. There have been so many misses in Disney Star Wars, we have to remember the hits and the home runs and Andor is definitely one of them!
"And what do you sacrifice?" - - - "Calm. Kindness, Kinship. Love." "I've given up all chance at inner peace. I've made my mind a sunless place. I share my dreams with ghosts." "I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion, I'm damned for what I do. My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my - my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape." "I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost, and by the time I looked down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet. What is my - what is my sacrifice?" "I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy, to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my LIFE to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see." "And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So what do I sacrifice?" "EVERYTHING!"
Keno and Luthan’s spearhead are Emmy worthy. So many people were not sure about this series with the first arc, but story 2, 3 and the finale show that their are different ways to tell stories in the Star Wars universe.
the price the gangster was asking was her daughter for his son. He has money, but money cannot buy respectability in the eyes of the snobs. A marriage into a good family, the family of a senator, would buy his son (and then his grandchildren) the respectability that money cannot. The gangster's son might be a good kid (the children of high end mobsters are rarely like their fathers), but Mon Mothma would still be "selling" her daughter to bail her out of trouble.
This is probably my favorite live action show. The mandalorian is fun and special but Andor is just so well made. The writing, the acting, and cinematography is all just incredible. Rogue One is also up there in terms of the movies, top 3 easily. I like the darker more serious tones in Star Wars.
When you finish the series, don’t forget to watch the end credit scene 👍 11:29 Andor is an exception, it’s not about Disney +, more about the team which is behind each project. Sadly Disney tends to still favour SW content targeting children because they can do more marketing and sell more products to this kind of audience, but not here, we were pleasantly surprised with Andor.
Legendary Episode! Epic Proformace I was lucky enough to get a interview with Andy after this episode and hear how he based Kino Amazing! "ONE WAY OUT!" 👏
Awesome reaction. Almost every reactor voices that same thing about the water... the writers knew what they were doing have Andor do that. Water DOES conduct electricity but it makes the circuit needed to complete HUGE so it overloads and fries the circuits and breakers etc.
Great episode, action and holy crap two phenomenal monologues! Loved Luthen's speech. What he says makes me think that he's a former Jedi who sacrificed "EVERYTHING" to defeat the Empire. Sharing his dream with ghosts...
I loved Luthen’s speech. It’s ironic because he won’t get to see the end of what he started, characters like Luke and Han will get the awards, he’ll be lucky if he lives to the end of the war.
I have been watching content from Star Wars since the first movie came out and this series might be my favorite overall. It creates a slow building tension that just keeps going. Some great writing and the cast is just nailing it. I sure hope season 2 is of the same quality.
the guards were so outnumbered, at most there were 12 guards per level, so 7 levels, 84 guards at most, and 5,000 prisoners, (minus the 100 fried the day before). The Guards were mega fucked. ps, feel free to fangirl over Diego Luna.
I wish more movies and TV shows followed the Andor example. The heist, the escape, and the fights are coherent. All parties are acting logically and in their own interest. Set pieces don't need to be grand to effectively tell the story.
@thatnerdtara some shows have had more TLC than others unfortunately. They all have their good moments but they are not all created equally. We can still like them for what they are but I do hope that notes were taken from Andor by Hollywood as a whole. So well made.
@@thatnerdtara Imagine if Andor had been the first D+ series. It would have set a much higher bar for writing and performances. All that budget expended on speeder chase scenes and incoherent battles could have been spent on story and characters. I would love to see Reva's arc in Andor's world.
Wow your reaction to this episode was priceless, Tara the finale is the same heart bumping as this episode I can’t wait to see your reaction for that and as for Rogue One!!
Water is a conductor of electricity. It's a very *very* good conductor of electricity--so good, it often conducts electricity too much, to the point where short circuits happen.
Amazing episode indeed. This was the one that made me think Luthen really is a Jedi or he was close to someone who was one. The way he talks, the way he dresses, plus that kyber crystal he holds and that cane that look a lot with a lightsaber hilt.
Rogue one is incredible maybe not as incredible as Andor because it has unnecessary humor and plot armor at few times but other than its very good war film which now works even better after what we saw why people fight the Empire, i actually wait for Andor season 2 and then rewatcch R1 as a finale, but maybe i couldnt resist it and rewatch it now because it still 1 year wait atleast.
This episode and ep 6 really raised the bar. The show is so well made on every level, it demands every other Star Wars show rise up to meet it or else look amateurish in comparison Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard just destroying scenes with their monologues
Is it any wonder Kylo ended up emotionally unstable, pro-Imperial, reactionary and on the Dark Side when you consider who his grandfather was and what his birth planet was like?
I thought this episode should win an Emmy.
Andy Serkis delivering the line “I can’t swim” was absolutely heartbreaking
THIS ^^^
I think Luthen’s actor should win an Emmy for that Monologue/ Speech at the end, best moment of the season.
It tries too hard.
They put the finale forward for Emmy’s. I agree though. Best in order: 10,12,6,11,3
I never seen a series masterfully put the viewer into every character's shoes like Andor. The anxiety, tension, stakes, danger, uncertainty, paranoia, sacrifice. Wow! 😂
I haven't "made" my wife watch this yet, but I've described it to her as "the best spy thriller out there"......oh yeah, and it's Star Wars, too.
Two of the best-written, best-acted monologues in Star Wars in one episode, and they were just icing on the cake of the full episode! Amazing episode.
This was by far my favorite episode of Andor. I mean the whole series itself was phenomenal...brilliantly acted, expertly written, compelling storytelling. This series was like liquid gold. I loved your reaction to this episode. You rock!

I want to have hope that he survived but I just know they tortured him mercilessly and then killed him without a second thought

TO THE REBELLION!!
I can't also wait to see you watch Rogue one, its my favorite live action film. This episode had so many clever moments! ^_^
It's such a cool way to watch Star Wars in a grittier, more adult way.

Kino Loys speech, and Luthens. this episode has 2 of the most awesome speeches ever.

Exactly. When they try to go with grand fan service stuff, we end up with shows like obi wan, which fails in every aspect compared to this show
After watching Andor I cannot believe people complain about the SW Disney + productions and not only that but the MCU needs to take notes

One way out is a great battle cry Andy Serkis gave a great performance all of them did
For the record, Andor isn't ..."slow". It takes it's time. There's a difference. I've watched Andor season one, 3 times and it keeps getting better
Amazing episode indeed.

Slow. This is what defines the Star Wars "shows".
