  • What a journey this has been! Star Wars The Return of the Jedi had me gasping for air by the end. I honestly didn't expect that kind of redemption and it just hit me in the feels completely. I love a story like this. This truly is one of the most epic stories. Let us hope to be steadfast like the Jedi in our own lives so we can overcome many things as well as getting out of the dark side. Tears of joy!

Oh boy this was just amazing! The ending obliterated my feelings lol. Thank you guys for following me on this journey! Thank you to Maxwell who recommended I watch in the Machete Order. What a beautiful story of hope and redemption and breaking the generational trauma patterns. I couldn't have asked for a better ending! My Star Wars journey doesn't end here! I am already watching The animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars which you can find on my Patreon! Those episodes will start to trickle out to youtube in a few weeks. Also I will get to Rogue one and Andor as well.

From Vader's perspective, the entire conversation is supposed to be incredibly uncomfortable and emasculating. Vader's whole thing is that power is ALL he is, and behind that power he's just a pathetic, sad husk. In that room was his master, someone he is extremely terrified of ever defying, and his Son, some new Jedi fledgling with undertrained powers. And yet his son is back-sassing the emperor, in front of both of them, and all Vader can do is sit there and do nothing until he is told to do something by the guy currently getting sassed by a young Jedi.

George Lucas made changes, for the sole purpose of being vindictive and petty. To show that he had the power.
I don't care about not being able to write or direct. That deserves little scorn, but when you literally THROW AWAY works of historical art, that crosses the line.
We nearly lost Star Wars because of his negilgence and indifference to the history.
The original movie reels were nearly lost. They were unkept and not preserved. They were nearly ruined before fans were able to find a way to purchase them and distribute copies for restoration.
It has nothing to do with his inept talent, it has everything to do with his lack of caring for history and the disregard for the preservation of art, simply to display a petty indifference and show "who has the real power".

To be fair what happened in the prequel trilogy wasn’t all Anakin’s doing. In the ROTS novel Yoda admits that he failed the Jedi Order because he never allowed it to change, to evolve, and adapt, as a result the Order became too dogmatic, arrogant, and too detached from the ordinary people of the galaxy. The Jedi shouldn’t have allowed themselves to become a police force and generals for corrupt and self serving senators. Why didn’t they prioritize serving the ordinary people over a corrupt senate?
Obi Wan failed Anakin by being too hard on him, not showing enough compassion and understanding, and he didn’t try listening to Anakin when he should’ve. In that sense Obi Wan also failed his master Qui Gon by trying to train Anakin as though he was any other Jedi, he was wrong to force Anakin into that mold rather than let him be himself. And let’s not forget how cold the Jedi Council was towards Anakin, they never showed him any trust or understanding. Every Jedi except for Qui Gon and Ahsoka just treated Anakin as though he was a time bomb waiting to go off instead of a person.
Ahsoka left the Order, and it seemed to Anakin that Obi Wan had chosen the Council that has always treated him badly over him. As a result he felt more alone then ever, and all he had left was Padme and Palpatine who as we know had been manipulating him along with everyone else. Anakin never had a stable childhood, he was treated horribly even beaten black and blue was he was 4 years old. And life within the Jedi Order also felt like another form of slavery to him. My point is that Anakin didn’t have a supporting group of people in his life like his twin children did.
Yes he did make a the wrong choice, but his fear of losing Padme is understandable considering what had happened with his mother Shmi. His treatment in the Order amounts to emotional abuse. All those years of trauma (Clone War, and his mother), frustration, emotional abuse, and eventually distrust of the Jedi finally exploded by ROTS. Anakin wasn’t born a monster, he was made one by years of everything I just stated.

As I grow older, Luke throwing away his lightsaber in the face of the Emperor resonates more and more. To me, it is the ultimate acceptance of Yoda's turn to pacifism after the Clone Wars, which Luke strained against throughout his training. None of Yoda's training is about fighting and he constantly warns Luke away from conflict (until he sees it is the only way for Luke to reach enlightenment). I hope you will give The Last Jedi a rewatch on your own with this idea in mind.

Luke's turn to pacifism in ROTJ was real and was his answer to the generational trauma which in the years to come he would've tried to sustain. For me, The Last Jedi understood this where the two other Sequels struggled very much to deal with Anakin's legacy.

I'm 44 years old. I saw this film for the first time with my dad when I was 6, in the theater, in 1983. I had it on videotape my entire childhood and have watched it more than any of the films in this franchise, to the point that every word of the script, every musical beat, hell, every SOUND effect is indelibly etched into my memory. There is literally nothing in this film that I don't remember.
However, watching along with reactors like you makes it new again, and enables me to actually FEEL the emotional currents in the film again. This is important, because something I've seen SO many times and memorized as a CHILD can overshadow and blunt the message it has for adults, with all the emotional layers and capacity for self-deception we have.
So thank you for putting the time and effort into watching these films, recording your reactions, and editing them for public consumption. It renews and replenishes memories and gives them life again. It enables the memories of a child to take on new depth and meaning for a middle-aged man.

We begin doubting ourselves, and feel the need to reach for the closest self-help article or video because we forget our own abilities. Indeed, nobody hated Anakin more than he hated himself. It’s not as if he had intended to become a monster he just got manipulated by Palpatine. Besides everything that happened in the past wasn’t all his fault, a lot of other people among the Jedi and the Republic also failed. Yoda failed because he never allowed the Order to change, to evolve, and as a result it became too dogmatic, arrogant, and too detached. Obi Wan had failed Anakin in various ways, and the Jedi as a whole had failed the people of the galaxy by becoming too subservient to corrupt senators at the expense of the ordinary people. Palpatine fooled and manipulated everyone very skillfully. My point being is that the fall of the Old Republic and the Jedi Order was the result of a series of failings by a lot of people, coupled with Palpatine’s machinations.

In Star Wars: Clone Wars, you have him on Mortis discovering that he will do that bad things by Son showing him future. He does tap into dark side but doesn't kill people, instead just refuses to leave Mortis and wants people to live him alone uses the force essentially mostly to entrap himself. In the end Father essentially makes him forget because it would disturb the prophecy. Even the biggest foreshadowing is that he was product of Darth Plageuis & Darth Sidious experiment on trying to create life and force bouncing back and creating Anakin. Anakin's father was Force itself, there was no escaping Anakin was supposed to sadly do these things. As much as it is brutal and nobody should do these things and we could call him cruel and evil. The funniest thing there was much worse personas in Star Wars than Vader like Hux even though he didn't have force, he then turned spy in Star Wars which made me laugh because they ruined his character. I would estimate Vader would influence or kill around 2-14B like Tarkin as for Hux it was 155B

Thank you Imon for your reaction, it’s how how feel with my personal favorite Star Wars film. I love your reaction and the machete order paid off.
I always see Luke’s quote “I am a Jedi, like my father before me,” as another way of saying “I love you father or I love my Father” considering the context of the scene. Since my own father introduced these films to me, it’s always resonated with me as a piece of him with me, so what better way of putting it in the best redemption of the series.

This is the order I will show these movies to my kids one day. Your reaction at the end proves it. Anikan appearing at the end would mean absolutely nothing without the context.

Your reaction broke me Imon. I couldn’t wait for this reaction, I knew it would have a significant impact on you. Particular, the force ghosts showing up with a young Anakin although it was originally the other actor. This is more substantial in my opinion. I truly adored your reaction.

What an ending. Just rewatched Episodes 1-6 over the course of a week and the ending sequence never fails. The combination of the music, celebration, the force ghosts, everything’s perfect. The relief of anxiety can be very overwhelming lol. This is what Star Wars is all about folks.

Something I notice after many watches. Look at how Vader's face relaxes that little bit after Luke calls him father. And then a second or two later goes limp like he has died. The feeling being expressed I can't even imagine. The actor is doing an incredible job of portraying Anakin redeemed.

I loved these movies as a kid because I just thought they were cool, but as an adult there are so many powerful motifs and underlying themes that genuinely make the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker one of the greatest character arcs in fiction.
