On 15 October 2015 The Royal Regiment of Scotland received the Freedom of the Highlands from Highland Council at a ceremony in Inverness. The ceremony took the form of a Drumhead Service in the Northern Meeting Park.
The bands are the Pipes and Drums of The Highlanders 4th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS) and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
This video some of the highlights of the ceremony. Soldiers from the Regiment are shown marching through Inverness to the Northern Meeting Park for the ceremony. Also shown are the parade entering the park, the inspection, setting up the drum altar, the reading of the Freedom Award, and a fanfare.
The parade marches off to the Regiment's Quick March, Scotland the Brave.
Also on parade is the Regiment's mascot Lance Corporal Cruachan IV, a Shetland pony.
Parades were also held in Wick, Dingwall and Fort William the following day.
I had the opportunity to visit Scotland this summer, and although apart from a day trip I stayed in Edinburgh, I got to see an amazing Tattoo and got to experience the friendliness and openness of the Scottish people which I envy greatly as a Swiss. I will definitely come back again soon!
You mountain nations have an affinity for each other :D
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed my country.
Don't you just love the precision!!!
Scottland the Brave! Love that melody, full of joy and proud. Greetings to all highlanders from Paraguay!☺
The loud of bagpipes and the march of soldiers bring me here. It's just wonderful. Greetings from Indonesia.
Expensive uniforms, no money for panties.
To see this makes my heart swell with pride! Scotland Forever!
100%
If seeing the British army march through scotland makes you feel pride then it shows how Lost a country Scotland is. The world hates the british army.
Soar alba
When i hear the skirl of the pipes and the beat of the drums and all my hairs stand on end i give thanks for all our armed forces and what they do for us all, but it makes me immensely proud to be part of our great nation. Only wish i had been there.

@@dellbank7696 What even the Nazis the west have been funding?
God bless Ukraine from an ex Scotts guard Sargent
With all due respect, THE most revered and feared soldiers are... The Gurkhas. Hands down the best in the world. Please give respect where it is due.
@@dylancampbell6695 I dont mean to be picky or anything, but the correct spelling is SERGEANT .
Unfortunately, Germany does not have such beautiful traditions for its men and women in the army as Scotland has. I love the Scots for such beautiful moments. My thanks to all who fight for us, and our freedom.
Most were destroyed by the allies in ww1
These are not scottish traditions. This is the british army, all are loyal to british crown and there is a lot of english people in these regiments.
@@rmac8378 oh look I found myself an idiotic tory! That is the uniform and traditions of scotland not the uk you blithering idiot.
@@Gouldarr You're both half wrong half right about the uniforms, they are British Army style uniforms, but they obviously have their specific parts drawn from traditional Highland dress.
Incredibly sharp bunch of troops! Congratulations from a Scottish-American.
(veteran, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army)
HI THERE , THE BIG DRUM , MANY THANKS FOR THIS VID. REALLY ENJOYABLE TO SEE OVER & OVER AGAIN !! MANY THANKS TO OUR SCOTTISH REGIMENTS !! JOHN IN LONDON.

Devils in skirts, what a stirring sight and sound.god bless Great Britain and all who bravely serve her for our freedoms, thank you.
GB was not really know for the concept of freedom for others. The empire wanted to to take the freedom of other countries ;)
@@Kingkongolee That's not true
Excellant video. AND much thanks for listing the events and the music selections. Listing the music is a great help if someone wants to search and hear more of that piece.
Enjoyed immensely! Colorful and all so perfectly performed as expected.
I live in Inverness, Florida..founded by Scots..and I am part Scots.. The bagpipes 'speak' to me. Listening to this has been wonderful! My great grandparents and my great great grandparents would be very, very proud..

There is no god!
Pierre M yeah there is no God, and the universe made itself from nothing. Now go back to sleep.
We Are what the fuck does the guys skin colour got to do with it? He could have been born and bred in Scotland making him more Scottish than your ignorant ass comment
@We Are what a bloody stupid comment.
Love listening to Bagpipes!
Imagine being a german soldier on sword beach and hearing bagpipes getting louder and louder..the germans called them whistling death.
"(German) Na, sounds like Lord Lovat brought Willie along for the show, ja?"
LL: Blue Bonnets!
Some Tommy in the background: Stormed at with shot and she'll
Boldly they rode and well
Into the jaws of death
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred . . .
The Germans called the Scots the ladies from Hell in WW1 coz of the Kilt and saw them all as Elite Soldiers.
The Scots do have a unique way of letting the world know just exactly who they are.
tony well the romans knackered england and tehen got to scotland and and thought oh shit lets go back to rome

I'm from Texas America and I think this music is amazing what I mean is it's uprising meaning that it motivates you I like it a lot I even drive around playing this
Rare are the armies that know how military art works. Scotland is obviously excellent for this
First time I saw live news item back in the 60s when they march in full unifor. With pipes and drums out of Aden . I was so impressed and have been spellbound whenever I see them visited the Edinboygh tattoo just to see them for real several times and my knees go weak every time. The most romantic mi!it as uniform in the world. Can't imagine how much work goes into preparing for public display. Thank you. X
Magnificent job!
I love the precision of men marching , i was in a cadets band as a bugler in high school and enjoyed parades immensely
Schotten in Uniform und mit der schönen Musik 🎶 🎶 🎶 sind Immer wieder schön anzusehen 😊😊😊

It’s on my bucket list, I need to travel to Scotland , visit the local whiskey breweries and see the highlanders myself. Wonderful video, thanks for uploading
No 'e' in whisky here - thats the Irish and American spelling - and it's produced in distilleries, not breweries.

These lads are pretty impressive! ....... so well drilled
Excelente 👌 show 😄
Incredible!
Impossible for us Yanks to march to but damn me if not's just music you'd still try to do so tho.
What’s even better is that every Scottish regiment in the British Army still carries their pipes into battle.

Are there any Holland Highlanders ?
Me too
Fantastic!! From the U.S.A.
+Jennifer Emerson A wee tip for anyone trying on a kilt, kneel down on the floor and put it on, when the hem is just touching the floor, then fasten it up :-)), My brother was in the Argyles, they had a mirror on the parade ground in Stirling Castle, any one going out in the kilt and was 'not commando' was ordered back to remove the offending article.
+tom lucas the wee horse, as you probably well know, is a Shetland pony, tough, strong, stubborn as hell, the perfect mascot, but it also makes a great pet. perfect for young kids, this one is I think is number 3 in the line, probably spoiled to hell, he is called Cruachan.
Argylls !
Cruachan retires or dies Cruachan replaces him. Long live Cruachan :-)
Nicely placed ad. "Highlanders are recruiting now..." Near where they form.
as an Irish German they are the most revered thats whatwe should aspire to!!!
As a small nation us Scots have gave the world so much, so proud to be Scottish.
Gorgeous, Proud, Fierce And Brave.

belle parade j'aime tous les titres celtique, je vous souhaite la bien venue en france
And at the end, a brass-band rendition of Scotland The Brave that seems much influenced by the vocal version: "Tow'ring in gallant fame // Scotland my mountain hame! "
