- Microsoft managed to shrink the Xbox One significantly with the release of the Xbox One S. Not only did they manage to make the overall system smaller, they also managed to internalize the originally external Power Supply from the regular Xbox One. How did they manage to make the system so small? Let's find out!

It's weird because last generation the 360 was built like crap and the PS3 was quality and this generation the one is built very well and the PS4 is built like crap. I don't even mean the roach thing. I think anyone will get roaches in any system if your house is dirty. My PS4 hasn't broke but it sounds like a rocket ship. It's so damn loud that I don't like to play it. Maybe mines defective

Looking back, it's interesting that the Series S is essentially just half of the One S in form factor.
All that space saved by no optical drive and compact nvme ssd instead of sata hard drive.

Nowadays with an script you can replace your hard drive, many ones replace for SSHDs. Although the system does accept different sizes, it is recommended to go with official sizes (500GB, 1TB or 2TB).
Besides partitioning, the install is similar to a PS4, which you reinstall the OS from a thumb drive, problem is that differently from PS4 which makes everything ready, the Xbox One lacks the partitioning routine necessary to the console to recognize (there are 5 partitions). You only need a computer just for partitioning the hard drive.
Digital switching has made power supplies a lot more efficient and compact.

I just took apart my Minecraft Ed to clean it out, I have opened more than enough 360's, PS3's and launch XB1's, I was very impressed with the use of space on the inside and aside from prying the shell apart, it was super user friendly on the inside.

That's crazy cause I honestly have never had or known someone who's hard-drive stopped working! I know ppl who have there console on forever especially the XB1 I know people who have left there's on over a year!.

Space inside depends how concerned you are about air flow.
Going by the slow boot times an SSD would be a good upgrade over the hard drive.
The cooling system in this Xbox it is really awesome

I waited till a tech wave to ask this. A lot of people seem to be having a problem with the wifi signal on the Switch, can you replace that to something better? Or is there no way to fix it?
MrLacksOriginality Either it could be the connection strength in general, interference with other signals, the wifi antenna is acting up and replacing it better to call Nintendo support.
All in all, if you're able to try out ethernet, go for it. Otherwise, there's many factors that come into play.

IV got an original Xbox one, it worked until one day when i. Plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on at all so opened it up cleaned it couldn't find anything out of place put it together again and it worked except i cant get a picture it loads games, u can turn it on and off with controller but no picture, any ideas why??

No please whatever you do, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO POWER ON DEVICE WHILE TAKEN APART!! You could fry your Xbox, or burn your house down or injure yourself. Any electronic device must unplugged and power cycled before cleaning or maintenance.

The og xbox one has a better heat sink. More copper and more tubes.
That's probably because the APU in the OG Xbox One use a 28nm process (instead of 16nm for the S) and thus consume more power and generate more heat which the heatsink has to deal with.

MadGamer343, I have the same one he has in this video. Its surprisingly quiet. Sometimes I'll hear it run a bit louder when it's starting large games, but other than that, 98% of the time it'll stay quiet.

Yeah, Microsoft drive paranoia is why I've only bought a non working original xbox for a project where I'll replace the internals. Sony don't care if you replace the drives making them a lot easier to fix, so we picked up a PlayStation instead.

Great Mindz the devkit that has more in it than the retail version (it has 2 harddrives instead of 1 and an OLED screen) is smaller than the og Xbox One... so no, it will be quite small, most likely smaller than the PS4 pro actually.
I doubt the Scorpio will be smaller than the PS4 Pro simply because of the size of the heat sink, fan and power supply needed to run 6 TFLOPs.

If I had to choose between a PS4 Pro and a Xbox One S, I would take the latter. I can tell from the insides and from how easy it is to reach them. Honestly, I'm re-evaluating Microsoft and hating Sony.
I'm having bad luck with mine, I've had 2 so far and I agree the thing looks and feels quality but the damn fan on both of them makes this whistling/cricket sounding high pitched whine that annoys the heck out of me and stops me wanting to use it. Seems like it's a common problem, wish they could've spent an extra couple bucks on the fan seeing as the rest of the thing looks solis
