I absolutely agree that reading Dune in a day is not the best way to comprehend this type of story. But 20 hours is the time it takes to read it aloud and with actual acting put in. People tend to read times faster when there's no need to speak, so the task of finishing it in a day it is possible, though difficult and kinda not the way I'd suggest to enjoy the story and it's themes.

Dune is a novel that is not an easy read for me. I have to switch from the story itself to the glossary within the book most of the time to understand most concepts and terms. In this way, I can be more immersed on the narrative. I try to read it slowly, i don't want to rush by finishing the book as fast as I can. I currently loving it, it's amazing.

I love cracking the spine of a thick softcover book!! That’s why they’re a cheaper, softcover edition, so that it shows it’s been through a lot and read passionately😝 However, I would never fold a page, it would physically hurt me to do so..

Yeah I have to agree that you didn't absorb all the info in dune. There's whole new concepts, religions and all kinds of other things that frank Herbert tossed in there. I've read the whole dune series a few times and I go back to reading it because I forgot details about it that I would like to know so yes you read it but did you gain from this wonderful packed story.

I can understand how hard a book this seems to be. I may have recently started reading this a couple of weeks ago and it will be my first book of the new year. It’s pretty good, but no way could I ever read a whole like this one all in one day. By the time I finish the first Dune book it’ll probably be a month before the new movie comes out in theaters. After I finish the book I’ll rewatch Part One before seeing Part Two before I start reading Dune: Messiah and then Children of Dune.

In my opinion, Dune is a bad book technically, its a hard read. Before you freak out, Dune is also one of the most intense universes to step into and the idea and the scope and the themes. . . It's jaw dropping. I just don't like his writing style. I've never been so connected to a story, and lore but also just hated how he wrote it. 😅

If you like to keep your books in pristine condition that is okay! But if someone wants to crack spines and bend pages, that's okay, too! Books are meant to be read, and frankly, books with evidence of messed up pages and torns cover with cracked spines and drink stains is evidence of a story well loved.

I recently tried again but barely got through the first few chapters. But I was also very busy. I'm planning to try one more time next year and if it still doesn't work, I'll try some full cast audiobook or something like that.
