''There's no catch, but there is a fee every time you book and you can only book 72 hours before departure''...so, there is a catch...The WizzAir website says that your booking is subject to availability and RESTRICTIONS. Their website also says that if you get stuck on holiday because there are no return flights available for the members, you can ''book a flight using a regular booking process''(meaning you can pay to book it). E509.99 (500 +9.99) for a flight to the Maldives seems like a great deal ....problem is that you may have to stay 6 months till a 9.99 return flight becomes available!
At the end of the Day, O'Leary is the chief executive of a foreign airline mainly operating out of and into mainland Britain, which doesn't warrant the airtime he is given. Given that much of his revenue is generated within the UK, what was his airline's tax bill from HMRC last financial year?
I believe this is a smart move by Wizz. Consider that someone might pay a one-time fee of 500 EUR plus a recurring 10 EUR per flight for a seat that would likely remain unoccupied by regular passengers. Even if this person travels 15 times a year (which is quite a lot, considering airport transfers, accommodation costs, food, etc.), they're essentially filling an empty seat. It would be valuable to know how many seats are typically reserved in the last 72 hours. This data would give us a better idea of how many seats are being taken by Pass holders, which might otherwise be sold to regular customers who could potentially pay more for a last-minute ticket than just 10 EUR
