If this was just a massive 40$ DLC or even 60$ DLC for Gears 3, I don’t think anyone would’ve complained especially if it was marketed as a DLC, but the fact is was marketed as a fully fledged out and complete game is the issue. If it was a Gears 3 DLC that added Overrun, FFA, Judgement story and Aftermath, as well as the handful of maps that judgement had it would’ve been amazing. Gears 3 would be like one of the greatest games ever without a doubt. Such a missed opportunity. The lack of characters, locust faction, maps, and game modes on judgement all show that it should’ve been a massive DLC for Gears 3.
Having a horror prequel taking place during the pendulum war where a squad of UIR commandos goes underground to cause havoc in COG lines. They blow up and underground support and are forced into the locust territory having to fight off wildlife and the proto horde. Take it from there the coalition it could also explain why some of the locust weapons mirror UIR weapons(semi auto hammer shot, boomer grenade launcher etc.) the locust captured and reverse engineered the weapons the commandos were using, or one the UIR people defects becomes locust.
no, better, stranded starts out unarmed just after hammer time and locust start popping up again. you gotta find other stranded and scavange for supplies. try and make it out of the city
Given that the person Paduck shot dropped cog tags, I'm prettyyyy sure he was cog, not a locust. I think that's the whole point of it, it's meant to be a dark shocking twist, hence why Paduck tells Baird he doesn't want to see him again.
Ahhh thought it was her tags he meant they dropped. But it being a Cog that took her is way darker but would add a lot more to Paduk’s anger towards them. Makes sense
@@shawnjackson3764 Keep the same art style, just better graphics. Not like Ultimate Edition where the dark lighting was way too bright. Also, just add stupid skins or something. People always pay for that BS

Nice video dude. Only thing is I felt as though Paduk was insinuating that Mariah was kidnapped by another gear to further boast his distrust for the C.O.G: but I only guessed that since I know some lore stuff like the Birthing Creche program that Presscott pushed through. I believe the stronger enemies as kilo gets closer to Karn are not due to karn knowing about their plan. It’s just a natural consequence of karn being the general, like how onyx guards loomis the locust guard their general. When Baird says karn knew they were close it’s because kilo squad has the fight through a bunch of enemies meaning that karn would hear of a bunch of his soldiers dying as this random human squad pushes closer

Considering that one Gears 3 Map, uh, whats the name? From the Forces of Nature map ... Aftermath? That map looks way too close to the Epilogue story from Judgement. Specially the Boat.
The problem for me with Judgement was that it ret-conned some important lore. I was an avid Gears book-reader, I loved the lore. Don't remember what the clash was but I still hate it.
It mainly has to do with when and why the Mk2 chainsaw lancer was invented, and Kantus priests being on the surface so soon into the war when Gears 2 heavily implies that they had never been encountered by the CoG until the invasion of the Hollow, and we don’t see them on the surface in Gears 2 at all if I recall correctly, we don’t see Kantuses on the surface until Gears 3 which is set 2 years after the Hollow was flooded. In other words, the Locust even after 15 years of territorial gains didn’t feel comfortable sending their priests onto the surface, for obvious reason, until they were all forced onto the surface which is also when said rare priests got proper armor.
IDC what anyone says this game is bad ass. Only down side for me is you can't be locust in multiplayer. Other than that it's a game that is loveable for me.
I honestly cant remember if I mention this in the video, but I loved playing the game despite frustrations. The Karn fights actually might be more fun and engaging than the RAAM fight personally and the music is great. There were just a lot of issues I had with it as well. But both opinions are very valid for sure
True, it’s weird too cause Ghosts had one of the more interesting campaigns to me and I thought there’d be a sequel but it was just forgotten about lol

Judgement goes hard, love this game, sure its not as good as Gears 3 and it sucks that locust didt return, but Judgement is still great. Survival was really unique and interesting, i enjoyed this mode greatly, i like to go back to it time to time and just play survival, horde in my opinion is better but survival is still cool and unique and should definitely come back someday, same with Overrun. Overall Judgement didn't necessarily need to exist but im glad it does.
My brother and i are playing again the entire series in anticipation for E-Day since we now own a Series X, before we played them with our cousins on original 360 (those were the days) And playing Judgement for the first time he was like "this sucks" after he beats it he's like "well that was cool" it's fun, just not on the same level as the trilogy
Paduk was ok for me. If there is one person I don’t get it’s got to be Sofia. I decided to play judgement for the first time a few weeks back (was the gears game I haven’t played). By the time I beat the game I wasn’t a big fan of hers. All that I knew was that she was a Onyx recruit and she slept with her professor who was some big hot shot. I have no reason to be impressed by the Onyx because from what I can remember I don’t remember the Onyx ever doing anything (I have only played the games in my defense, and I don’t remember every little thing from the games)
Thats pretty much what I got from Sofia too. I wish she showcased more of what makes the Onyx Onyx you know? But she was really reduced to sleeping with her mentor lol was sad to see
So, if I remember correctly, the little pamphlet that old 360 games had in them included a passage about the Ragers that said something to the effect of: because the ragers are reckless and aggressive, with no sensible understanding of tactical knowledge, they were killed off and became endangered and were not used by the locust.
Outside the game play, the campaign killed the whole thing for me. This was not a story worth telling the way they told it. I would have loved to see Baird and cole meeting for the first time and fighting locusts together for the first time, Baird becoming the brains and actively learning g about the locusts while Cole acts like Cole. They feel hollow hear, especially Cole. Just so soulless.
thank you for bein a goat and keepin the courage to upload/covering gears you're amazing g, it brings back so many memories for me and keep up the great work and videos.
It wasnt that bad, just had more moments than others that made me think of what they could have done better with. Still a fun game especially with the declassified missions
I just finished watching the original trilogy videos. Good job, they were pretty entertaining. Now, about Gears Judgement. I agree the campaing wasnt that memorable but it actually was pretty entertaining, this game is the one i replayed the most because i enjoyed the declassified missions. While the gamemodes weren't everyones cup of tea i remember back in the day free 4 all was a gamemode everyone was asking, even in gears 3 there were custom King of the hill lobbys with friendly fire activated so you could play a version of free for all . And for the Overrun and survival modes at least for me they were pretty entertaining, mainly because i used to play with 3 other friends and the co op aspect made it pretty fun but I can understand why playing singleplayer could make it feel boring or not as appealing. Sorry for the wall of text
Walls of text are always welcome! Yeah I still found judgement to be pretty entertaining, I think I just wish the game had more in it. Mainly the campaign despite the cool mechanic of the declassifieds. And I still miss overrun to this day. Hopefully we’ll a return of it someday in e day or 6
The controls, challenges and the lack of anything really happening in the story are my big problems with the game. They're not nearly enough to sink it though. What I do like is the locast finally feeling as monstrous as they did in the first game. While the story is meh I do like seeing more of the early stages of the war and consequences of insubordination. Something I desperately need to see happen to Kait in Gears 5. But that's a rant for another day.
The term “Indies” that Loomis calls Paduk is short for ‘Independent’ in reference to the Union of Independent Republics. And yes Loomis definitely uses it as a slur
Yeah my least favorite Gears game. Characters are not deep. Horrible pacing that's just relentless. The challenges are not too difficult but they are annoying. Levels are short. Wierd control scheme. And multiplayer just wasn't for me. I think this is the only Gears game that i would say sucks.
The Stuff about Ragers going extinct so early on has to do with their constant charges into gunfire to their deaths, because of their reckless constant raging. whoever remained living remained at Halvo Bay not really seeing much action outside of the Battle of Halvo Bay, this is also why Baird makes the comment "Ragers, where have they been hiding for the last 17 years?". My theory is that they're the males of the Beserker race, the same creatures that the Locust use them to breed. As for Cleaver-Therons, my guess is that they're cadets doing their combat training on E-Day before getting promoted to proper Therons.
I thought it was still an enjoyable game but it could of been better. The multiplayer maps and Overrun was so much fun and the armour skins where a great implementation.
You aren't kidding in them staying away from this game because I can barely find anything on it in later talks about it like in the 10 years of Gears of War being a mention and even the later entries lightly touching it
Aftermath heavily implied she got taken out to avoid being a prisoner, as the game has shown. We would have had mention of a kid of Sofia by 4 and 5 given how long development took post Judgment and the sequel games.
@@TheDarkkilla12 this is what I found from the gears, Wikipedia, and this is some behind-the-scenes stuff: Sofia was not confirmed to be dead as the writers wanted to keep as many storytelling possibilities open as possible. A writer named Rob Auten stated that "We are not saying if Sofia was dead. I actually tweaked the Gearspedia reference myself a few days ago as it said that she was murdered which Paduk never actually said. It was intentionally left unclear."
@@TheDarkkilla12 in addition, there is also this: By 42 A.E., the Coalition of Ordered Governments erected a memorial wall of soldiers who lost their lives during the Pendulum Wars, Locust War, Stranded Insurgency and Lambent Pandemic. Despite Baird receiving her fate, her name is not on the memorial wall, indicating that she may be still alive.
I played a lot of the multiplayer but overall i really feel the main trilogy was just better. I find the campaign a grind to get through when replaying, so I tend to skip it. I don't like how it messed with the lore like for example, lancers were made years after E Day meaning them being here is dumb. Just this shows how much they didnt care about pitting it into the universe. Other than my rant, really enjoyed the video Will, lokking forward to gears 4👍
Honestly I liked this games story and I think it would’ve been accepted if they didn’t change the core mechanics of the weapon system. If they ever remastered it I hope they just revert that change.
people who on a hate trend for no reason, the game was good, yea it had a different mechanic and story telling but who cares I'd rather have another judgement than another gears 4 or 5, fuck the swarm it sucks
Weird topic/question: Am I the only one that feels Baird in Judgment feels out of character and not keeping up with the lore? Because in one of the books Dom suggests that Baird might be personally self sabotaging his chance for promotion because it means he needs to be emotionally responsible of others but wants to assure people he's good enough to be a sergeant. Baird also feels too patriotic when even in the games they make it clear he doesn't care for authority or being bossed around and wants to be left alone. This Baird feels too clean for me. He's not really flawed. Even in the books and comics they make it clear Baird is a bastard but is competent enough to know how to survive. This Baird is too suck up to authority to be even the same person when he knew what authority was and that was his parents telling him he can't go for his dreams because he's a BAIRD and he's gonna sign up for the service or he loses his inheritance and that he so anti social with anybody that he talks and relates more with robots than actual people, which is why he can sleep soundly at night than other Gears because he doesn't hold strong attachments with anyone even thinks that Marcus needs to stop sweating over Anya because its gonna emotionally ruin him. Literally saying he needs to stop caring. Even think to himself Dom needs to stop hanging out with Stranded because he's getting too chummy with them and needs to worry about himself first off. This Baird feels a totally new person. He feels too much like Marcus for him to be the same asshole we come to know. I'm not saying I love Baird as a character. In fact, I can't stand Baird because he's a classist sexist pig who claims to be using this as a coping method but to me is an excuse for him being an asshole. However I'm not saying that Gears 3 made that same mistake, because Baird did progress as a character as time went on. I don't mind that. What I do mind is the start of his character arc. I never saw him as some old war hero who became more cynical to full blown nihilist as the years started to wear down. He felt more he already resented authority and The Locust War came at the wrong time which basically ended any sense of leaving to work for his own means and more stuck in this ongoing hell that always seems to get worst before it ever gets better which by the near end leaves him to start actually caring about others in his own way because they've been losing so much at this point that he needs to give people at least some element of kindness even if he wouldn't call it that as fact which should tell the audience that things must be getting worst if Baird starts to actually give a shit about anyone openly. My theory is they wanted to do more with Gears 3 Baird and find him more fun or they knew how problematic he is so they wanted to water that down to make him more snarky than bigoted even though Cliff himself calls Baird a bastard and based on a friend who was a real hurtful person. (Before you say it I have to play it PG otherwise UA-cam might just delete this comment).
Yeah I totally agree. We never see how Baird got to be the way he was in the original trilogy. He acts a little too altruistic here, maybe since they made him the main character of this story they didnt want him to be too abrasive? But then that undermines his character in the later titles so pretty weird choice on their part.
@@willmelvin2351 I'm just saying this Baird wouldn't tell people Dom is the good guy and that he's a 'realist' and that he doesn't care if Gorasni have a petty vengeance spree and murder people despite crossing the line, because they're not Gears or part of his squad. He just saids, "Fuck'em." This isn't a Baird who if you said Stranded are no different from the COG but he said to your face, "The Stranded are not us." That's all what Trilogy Baird would do and does. How do you go from Captain America to full blown Vegtea levels of asshole behavior?
What do you mean NO horde mode it's called the campaign in judgment.....😅 😢 Lol Yeah I never touch this game until game pass my self, only played it because I a huge Baird fan.

I liked the Kilo Squad
I just played through it again I think it's a good game
I like the game for the characters and the coop, but yeah after GoW3 it felt off.
thank you for bein a goat and keepin the courage to upload/covering gears you're amazing g, it brings back so many memories for me and keep up the great work and videos.
Ok hear me out🙌 judgement wasn’t that bad
But that's a rant for another day.
love these man you got a bright future id hate to make you suffer but any chance we get a gears 4 and 5 version of this
4 should be coming soon my friend..
@@willmelvin2351 thank you🐐
Love the hyper-analysis of everything man, very well done. This was a great take on things.
For some reason on the Gears wiki Sofia Bio said she is romantically involved with Paduk
Games great, controls ruined it
The Stuff about Ragers going extinct so early on has to do with their constant charges into gunfire to their deaths, because of their reckless constant raging. whoever remained living remained at Halvo Bay not really seeing much action outside of the Battle of Halvo Bay, this is also why Baird makes the comment "Ragers, where have they been hiding for the last 17 years?".
You aren't kidding in them staying away from this game because I can barely find anything on it in later talks about it like in the 10 years of Gears of War being a mention and even the later entries lightly touching it
Yeah they really don’t wanna acknowledge this games existence lol
@@willmelvin2351 This game truly has become the red headed step child
15:32 thanks for the view Sofia, but not right now
Sofia’s fate was left ambiguous hopefully maybe in Gears 6 we’ll know something.
@@Slifer29 That's actually cool. Maybe we might get something in 6 then.
@@TheDarkkilla12 hopefully I’m sure that the people over at the coalition are cooking right now
I played a lot of the multiplayer but overall i really feel the main trilogy was just better.
You doing 4 and five? If so I’m excited
All things considered, this game had one of the best trailers I've ever seen just from the music alone.
Honestly I liked this games story and I think it would’ve been accepted if they didn’t change the core mechanics of the weapon system. If they ever remastered it I hope they just revert that change.
Kilo Squad was great
Yes, cause honestly, without Overrun. I wouldn’t have fallen in love with the game ❤😂
Kinda torn, it was the first game played with my then age 6 grandson played .. has a special spot for me.
when do you think you will do a gears 4 or 5 review, im desperately waiting for those ?
I’m disappointed you didn’t include the best line in the series “House!” 😂
House?
@@littlebadassgaming a random boomer says “house!” before getting killed by the commander judge dude, its so stupid its funny
@@ProphetJigalo damn i never knew that
Honestly my favorite part of gears of war judgment was the constant action and no vehicle mission 😂 my least was only having 2 weapons
I loved judgement I wish they would do more w the universe before gears 1like raams shadow maybe even do more of the pendulum wars like in gears 4
Yeah I would love that too! I've really wanted to see more of the UIR
people who on a hate trend for no reason, the game was good, yea it had a different mechanic and story telling but who cares I'd rather have another judgement than another gears 4 or 5, fuck the swarm it sucks
Overrun was soo good
The Markza is in gears 5?
I loved overrun mode
Same man, wish we could get it back
Weird topic/question: Am I the only one that feels Baird in Judgment feels out of character and not keeping up with the lore?
Or 4 or 5?
What do you mean NO horde mode it's called the campaign in judgment.....😅 😢 Lol Yeah I never touch this game until game pass my self, only played it because I a huge Baird fan.
Bro check out spec ops the line except the gameplay in that game all flaws you told in this video are fixed in spec ops the line especially the dead bodies flaws
I hate to admit it was my guilty pleasure of a game despite its flaws.
It is my pleasure -game without the guilt
Reminds me of halo odst

I didn’t like this game personally.
Gears of war judgement is not a very good game please don't defend this game this game suck
No it was garbage😂

@@willmelvin2351 Seriously the terrible immersion, character development, transitions between cutscenes and lore inconsistency are atrocious.
i swear in my memory of judgment they went "is that a " "yeah it is i thought they died out" somewhere similar to that
Do you mean for the ragers? I think they said it somewhere I can’t remember for sure tho
