Impressed the time and effort you put into this. Well done showing us all the modifications you made. The final product is one of the cleanest catch can installs I've seen.
I purchased one of these for my 06 electra-glide. I returned it because it was too large for my bike. That said I must tell you this catch can is very well designed and built. I wish it would have fit.
excellent video. great looking set up. I simply ran two black hoses down to the road. Amazing how hoses blend in Never ever have to service it and no more oil on the engine and garage floor.
With a catch can that size you won't have to worry about emptying it for quite a while, lol. Best looking and cleanest homemade setup I saw so far! Don't worry about the China part either, Harley sure uses plenty of them too but still has no problem charging us American prices (or more) for them!
Oh my God! There is some creative genius that is wonderful , please update me on its working s . Want this and p/n s of fittings and hoses also turbo and pieces. Thank you for sharing. What a pro job
I can tell you dip, when you pulled out the steel wool. 😆 I like the way you think, I saw this breather on Amazon and didn’t think it would fit my 2020 Fat Boy build and that reverse move and sealant showed your ability to look at the possibilities. Again, I like the way you think. BZ brother. (SS/SW/MTS) USN, Ret. 🦅 of a 🪶 Subscribed
Aluminum and Stainless Steel in contact with each other causes Galvanic Corrosion. Should be checked often since the catch can isn't a sealed environment.
Nice clean install with that is functional and looks like it should have been along. Can you give us an update on how your catch can is working and if you would have made any modifications if you were to build another.
I did a six month review and it was posted five months ago. I had shoulder surgery and haven’t ridden it enough since then to justify another video. I like parts I used in this install but the plastic tee I repurposed from the original cleaner has always bothered me. I would like to use an aluminum tee and I’m going to CNC a bracket to replace the first one I made from scraps that holds the braided line up and off of the transmission. It does an amazing job of trapping and separating the oil from the vapors. I am delayed in videos due to the new workshop going up but more will follow. LawDawg out!
The oil film on the stainless steel should help to prevent major corrosion issues. I like it but prefer it to be about 1/3 the over all size and weight
Excelllent setup! Clean. Can you remove the can for cleaning without removing the bracket? If so I would mount it and tighten the bolts , then add the can. Easier access
I'd be worried about extra trapped heat on that rear cylinder. I purchased my external breather / catch can from DK Customs. Works great. Top of pistons clean as can be.
I have a harley davidson breakout 2014 My bike engine burns oil I think its puking oil in air filter and after some miles the engine oil level goes down . The things I diagnose I think my engine breather assembly is bad and my clutch set is not ok. When ever I start my bike cold or hot it never give smoke so what should I do with the engine oil level goes down please guide me with it. I will be very grateful to you. It's possible because of breathers the oil comes up and burn through the throttle body ? I was confused because there is no smoke when ever I start my bike no leaks in engine as far as I can see from out side I checked valve there is no carbon they where clean But after some ride when ever I check the air filter it's over flow with engine oil A friend of main told me mabe piston rings are week So how can I check piston rings should I do compression test? Please help me with it I will be grateful to you
Your moving a lot of oil for not to be smoking or leaking on the ground! For oil to get in the breather it would have to come in through either the throttle body (not likely) or the vent tubes. The tubes vent vapor that contains a very small amount of oil normally. If it’s a lot of oil and not smoking then it’s most likely the seals and/or gaskets in the top end which aren’t hard to replace for the mechanically inclined. LawDawg
My question is shouldn't you pull a vacuum on the catch can to keep fresh air flowing through the engine so you don't have carbon sludge build up in the rocker boxes and crank case?
Hey Tim, Thx for the vid. Question about the catch can. I notice all these come with an in and an out for tube installations but yours has one blocked with a bolt. Did you order it that way or did you buy the bold separate or does it come with?
@@brianhall8956 crankcase gasses on a stock bike and most vehicles is vented off the top of the heads and back in through the intake at a second chance to burn it off. Except with other vehicles the vapors go through a filter material in the breather before passing through the paper air filter and then in to the carb. This vapor contains oil particles that can gum up the cylinders on your bike.

Watch using that RED loctite. You should use blue bolting it to the heads.

Real tidy job mate, well thought out... Use blue, not red. 😎🇬🇧

I hope it functions well for you. You definitely put a lot of thought into the design of this. Well done.

Nice clean job, hope it doesn't puke alot of oil👍
Very nice well thought installation.

one of the best ones I've seen so far. link for parts?
Very nice
Where are the links to eBay to buy the parts for this job? That would save a lot of time.
Hell of a lot of locktite
nice job
Was planning the same thing on my 2011 Street Glide, was interested in seeing how you ran the hose on the left side of the bike to make it look good.
I will shoot that video for you this weekend. It turned out awesome with a hand made bracket. Thanks for watching
Wow, that sombitch is huge! I installed a DK Customs
It’s the look I was looking for more chrome and it fills the spot
The oil film on the stainless steel should help to prevent major corrosion issues. I like it but prefer it to be about 1/3 the over all size and weight
That will work bt more maintenance. You have to check the can more often deppending on how many hours on it since last cleaning.
That's nice. Why do you still have that restrictive paper filter, though?
It’s replaced now
Where you mounted, the catch can, did you drill holes in the tube frame or the plate?
Drilled in the plate. Put something on the other side to protect wiring
Where could I buy the treaded plastic T fitting?
The tee fitting isn’t threaded. Sand it down a little and tap the hole in the other metal fitting. The soft plastic will screw in
Where did you purchase those items? I did not see the links for them.
Thank you and great video!
Use the description and search eBay. All items are from EBAY

Now oil on leg
Excelllent setup! Clean. Can you remove the can for cleaning without removing the bracket?
If so I would mount it and tighten the bolts , then add the can. Easier access
Yes you can remove the can for cleaning without removing the bracket
One bolt is blocked by the manifold part of the setup so the bracket has to go on first but yes it would make the second one easier. Good eye!

It moves the same amount of air. Nice plug for DK products
Just did my 1995 Sportser And man what a perfomance increase

That’s beyond my experience and research. Have you experience in that?
This guy touches that topic, and it is a good listen. ua-cam.com/video/5h6Apcj7DDg/v-deo.html
Nice
What about the hole in the back of the air filter element?
Block it off with aluminum tape
Hey Tim, Thx for the vid.

It came with the plug.
With all the room inside the breather box why not engineer a catch can that installs inside, change it with filter changes/ cleanings
Little too big, I prefer a little more discreet. Should work for you . Thanks.
Really like the use of the turbo lines, very neat. What is the catch can/breather for on the air filter side?
Hey it’s Lawdawg, are you asking what the catch can is for or why is there a air filter on it?
Yes curious what the catch can is for,

Everything was from EBay. There are descriptions of everything in my video. Let me know if you have a problem.

Did I miss something or did you completely leave out exactly how you mounted the can to the bike?
