This made me remember something from about 1978. I was living in Victorville at the time and a group of us, all on Harley's rode down to San Bernardino to go to a bike swap meet. We were sitting at a light on Baseline Ave and across from us in the opposing lane sitting at the light were two SB motor cops on Harley's, they were talking to each other and looking at us and smiling. When the light turned green they both did wheelies on those cop HD's, we thought that was the coolest thing we'd ever seen and couldn't stop talking about it for a long time.

@JohnSmith-de2mz I lived down there until 2011 when we moved to Idaho. I have no desire to be there. It's not what it used to be. I flew down to Orange County and bought a bike a few years ago. Ended up riding it north through L.A. on I-5 at 2pm on a Friday afternoon. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I think the drivers are generally better down there than here in Idaho.
The SP has to do with a speed capture display feature. Ride the bike with the SP mode on, then hit the trigger switch and it will capture the speed you are going at that time.
I have an 18 FHLP. On mine, the SP is the radar readout from the radar unit that would be mounted on the left side engine guard, on the top bar. Check your owner's manual for this info.
I picked up a 2008 Police Electra Glide used with only 2500 miles on it in the winter of 2009 - 2010. Over the years I have radically customized the entire bike. It’s my one and only bike and I absolutely love riding it.

Good video Cue! The mirrors allow us police riders to be able to see things behind us in greater detail. It takes some getting used to but you do get used to it. It's a good thing you got a new PD RK, Some of the ones that actually get put in service with a PD are riding pretty hard because of the nature of the job. My agency has sent some pretty tired ones off to auction when we finish with them. Having been very familiar with police HDs naturally, I chose that Yamaha Royal Star years back that you've seen me riding in Pooler. That bike is a road trip beast, as comfy as a couch and a bike you could do 1000 miles in a day on. Rodeos are tons of fun and I enjoy them, I had thought about getting into it on the civilian side as well. However, I decided to stick to what I love the most and that's touring. Long trips, seeing and experiencing things along the way is what I enjoy most.
You have one beautiful Road King Police. A year ago I bought a 2003 Road King Police with 53K miles. I love the classic styling, it seemed like this bike was waiting for me to come in. Just had the cam chain tensioner and throttle controls replaced, will be putting on new shocks. I was given a set of civilian mirrors, but I'm going to put the police side mirrors back on. I like my King Hell windshield, luggage rack, and lights front and back. I have a passenger pillion and foot pegs, and the only other add on will be a passenger back rest so my gal doesn't feel like she's going to slide off. I agree that every Road King should have this speedometer/tach setup. This motorbike is a joy to look at and to ride.
Hi Cue, great video. I have a 2021 FLHP. Really good to see they are still making the Road king Standard model that was discontinued after 2022 for civilian models (which only came with the 107) I changed the lights, seat and exhaust. It’s the best Harley ever made for all around use…you’re going to love it. The lighting may be something you’ll have some quirky switch gymnastics you’ll have to do. With mine, I have to hit the red button on the left twice to get the passing lamps to turn on or off. Dealer had to contact HD for a s/w load just to get the switches to even operate the lights correctly. The breather is already a high flow unit on the FLHP, so you really only need to change the echo get to a stage 1. I’m planning an S&S cam soon along with true duals to get to a stage 2. Personally, I prefer the slightly smaller wheels on mine. They have increased rubber on the tires so the overall diameter you’re riding g on is the same the taller rims with lower k on profile tires. The advantage is that you get a more stable ride on city streets with the additional rubber on the tires…safety feature and ride co fort for the officers. Enjoy the great machine. Looking forward to seeing your mods. Alan
Great feedback! Thank you. I didn't realize this had a high flow air cleaner. I just don't like the look....plus (since I'm not a police officer) I don't want my bike to say police. I think it's disrespectful to actual police. I won't consider doing anything with the tires until I wear out the stock tires. But my goal is to find a way to reduce scraping the kick stand during left turns.
The double press on the light button YES! 😅 HD dealership had a tough time getting things to work after I removed the speedo and put it all on the tank console. Love the FLHP, such a classic.
I have a 2020 Electra Glide Police Bike. The previous owner did a Stage 2 upgrade with the high end cam on the stock 114. The bike is a monster. It also has a fairing and a 4 speaker Rockford Fosgate stereo. I have a Mustang seat with driver backrest. It also has some mini ape bars which I really love. The dealer tried to get me to buy a new bike but this one already had over $4000 in upgrades.
Yeah they want to move those new ones off the floor as quickly as possible. I bought a new HD in 2017 and love the bike but I’ll buy used from now on for the reason you just mentioned. There’s too many good deals on upgraded bikes out here.
I bought a 2015 flhp with 1300 miles back in 2016. Black like yours. It’s been the best bike I’ve ever owned and I’ve had longer than any other bike let alone Harley. I used to change every 2 years. Mine is completely blacked out with stage one/thundermax. Love the thing.
I bought a 2016 road king police in dec 2023. My 1st Harley and honestly I absolutely LOVE IT I've put maybe 2k in it to make it mine. I've road several other Harley's and even bought a 84 fxrs recently and my RK is my choice to ride. Long or short distance. Still working out the wiring issues from all the police equipment being removed(which they gave me when I purchased the bike) fixed everything but the horn. Can't get it to work yet. Absolutely no issues other than that and I've got 8k+ miles on it since dec. And this is just sept now.
Hi. I have had a 2000 Police Road King , bought it in 2000. It’s Birch White. Had 470 miles on it here in Orange, Va. Waugh HD. Just like Hoss Waugh told me at the time “ The Bike is just a down payment on the accessories “! And boy he was right. $17K and I’ve probably doubled that was $10K more. It’s my Canvas though. No one else on the Planet will have my exact same Scooter. I used the Police theme to do it up with a Doc Holiday front fender air brush and bullet accessories all over.
I've had 3 former police Harleys and I think they are great! Always mantained and serviced and you get to finish them up to what you want. Thanks for the vid.
Another difference (I think) between the Police and the civilian RK, is the Police version also has a higher output alternator to handle all the extra electronics they carry. Great video, keep 'em coming!
SP is speed capture. The speed capture display allows for the recording vehicle speed when pacing another vehicle. The speed capture display is only updated when the vehicle is moving. Activation: With the ignition switch in the ACCESSORY or IGNITION position, press the trigger switch until speed capture is displayed. This feature is indicated by the letters "SP" in the left side of the display. Press and hold the trigger switch to activate the speed capture The speed is displayed, based on motorcycle speed. Capture: While traveling at speed, press and hold the trigger switch to save the current speed. This is indicated by the letter "C" on the right side of the display. Press and hold the trigger switch to erase the current saved speed or to reactivate the speed capture function
Please do! I will do more videos featuring this bike. I have another one that will be posted on Saturday. I am already planning another one where I start removing some of the parts and installing accessories.
I purchased a 2023 road king police , so far loving the ride. Not doing many mods for me just a taller windshield, passenger seat (mustang) with footpegs and a givi trekker case for the rack, similar to Pan American case. This is my every day and touring ride.
I have an 06 Road King. I recently put a set of 9.5” pullback risers and moto bars on it. It’s amazing how comfortable and how much more control I have over the 16” ape hangers that were on it when I bought it.
It's called THE KING for a reason!! ALL HAIL THE KING!! Professional police motor officers use this motorcycle in the performance of their daily duties in the most demanding conditions. Top motor officers are the best riders on this type of machine, hands down. While they will make subtle 'adjustments' to the motorcycle that allows better fit and the best leverage over it, they do not change anything that affects the geometry of the motorcycle, i.e., wheels & tires. My police Road King is the motorcycle that brings the most smiles because it so so dang fun to play with! I have it set-up for that purpose and I ride the heck out of it. It's set-up with a focus of function over fashion. I have two other motorcycles that are more fashion oriented but without sacrificing functionality. My suggestion, set-up your motorcycle with a clear focus on why you bought it. Purpose focused functionality!
If you put stock style 19 and 18 wheels and tires, you will find that will not increase the height and lean angle. That's because the higher tires have a lower profile than the 17 and 16 police rims and tires. Before going through that expense, Measure your tires from top to bottom then do the same with the tires and rims you are thinking about buying. Also anyone can order a police Harley and there are numerous color options. It's really up to the dealer whether or not they will order a police bike for you. According to Harley, the dealer must keep a police bike in their demo fleet for a certain period of time. (that time can vary from 90 days to 6 months) However, Harley at times has allowed dealers to sell them upon delivery at the dealer. I've ordered several police R/K's and E/Glides thru the years and took delivery the day they came in.
Thanks for the info! I will definitely measure the height of the 19 vs 17 inch wheel. I'm hoping that it helps reduce scraping of the kickstand during left turns. I wasn't aware that civilian could order a FLHP. I was told that we couldn't. Either way, I found one! I really like this bike and can understand why so many people like Road Kings.
@@RidingandWrenching I have a good relationship with a couple of dealers so they let me order anytime and any color I want. But whether or not a dealer lets a civilian order one is up to the dealer. Here's an ''Impact Blue'' R/K I ordered back in 2019 and sold 2 years later.
@@RidingandWrenching It won't because the overall diameter of the tread is the same (or close enough that it wouldn't matter). If it wasn't, the speedometer and odo would be off. They account for the rim diameter, as MM said, by reducing the height of the sidewall. All the same issues apply like you pointed out in your 21" rim video. PS - I just found this channel and it's really great!
My 2018 is my 2nd police bike. My 1st was a 2001 that drove me crazy with wiring repairs. I have turned my 18 in to 2 up touring bike with a tour pack, Hammock seat, Reckless detach fairing (no radio), suspension technology shocks. Did a complete change out on front and rear lights, we like to be seen. Cant knock the stock 107 engine. Only mod i did to the engine is change breather from chrome to black. I cant say enough about the Road King Police.
I believe the newer bikes are more plug and play than the elder bikes. Whoever converted My 2001 (Badge) had used white hospital tape at all the spliced wires. it was a mess. If she backfired just a little, your ride for that day was over.
Great video. It is difficult to come across any videos of these. I ended up picking one up (new 2023) several months ago. Honestly, it was the most bang for the buck on the showroom floor. I have made several changes to mine already. Although I love the pogo seat, I have a shorter inseam, so I swapped out the seat. I put the SVT Boneshakers on it, which sound amazing. Today, I installed the Dirty Air Fast Up air suspension. This bike drives like a dream, especially compared to my '95 Softail Custom (which I love). Thanks for the video. I look forward to seeing updates to the bike!
I owned a 2011 Harley Davidson Rd., King police for 14 years just gave it to my brother bought it the same way you did was there at the right time when no police department needed it and bought it in 11. Mine had guards for the bags on it, and also that speedometer upfront was tack on mine otherwise pretty much the same mine was a 103 though dual cam..
Picked up my 2020 FLHP last February with 7500K on it. Stage 1 w/Rinehart slip ons and K&N filter. Also replaced all the lighting with LED’s. Also added a Mustang seat which my wife loves and the passenger floorboards. Mine did not have the tour pack mount and I added the quick release backrest. That 114 loves to run and we took her to the NC mountains which was a blast.
I am looking to purchase a 2020 that has the solo law seat. When you look for seats do you just say flhr? I cant find listings stated to fit police version
@@jimknight6509 mine had a solo set on it that the previous owner installed. I put a Mustang seat on it for my wife and me. Older FLHP’s are not easy to find.
I also own a Police Road King and I’ve done many of the same things you talk about here - I highly recommend upgrading the rear suspension it makes a huge difference. I also did a Stage 1, then a year later got the 122 cubic inch motor stage 3 (without header, kept the SE mufflers) it makes a nice 130 ft lbs torque and is really smooth and usable power, you won’t even feel a passenger. Overall it has been a really fun bike to own and customize. One regret, I removed the speedometer up front and it really complicated the electrical wiring - the Speedo is the ground wire for the whole system so be careful with that if you mess with it. Looking forward to your modification videos brother!
Yes I wanted to make room for the smaller “mailbox” windshield so had to move the speedometer and put one in the console - one of the HD aftermarket ones with the speedo and tach in the same dial and like I say that isn’t as useful now that I do a lot more longer trips o miss being able to just glance down and see speed and gear. But I don’t dare touch the electrical now that it’s working good! 😅
Back in the late 80’s I bought a FXRTP and stripped it down and painted it but left the footboards ect on it. It went hard and fast, faster than any standard FXR i rode with. The ignition module died and i replaced it but it detuned it so much that i sold it (stupidly) im now hunting down another Fxr as im getting older. Most cop bikes go well. 2 guys i knew bought BMW R80 police bikes but one had a city diff and one a highway did the town one would do 70-80 mph only but got there fast .
Just in time for the Rodeo in March! Great choice brother. My biggest gripe is the speedometer on my RK. I hate having to look down to see my speed and turn signals.
I am in the process of changing the bars out. This has turned out to be a little more of an ordeal that I thought. I am changing the handlebar clamps so that I can use a set of bars from my older RG.
I bought my 2010 Road King cop bike in 2011 and still love it. It's not perfect, but it's mine and I ride it all over the place. I agree that they're a bargain, however, if you want to de-cop it (like me), be prepared to shovel out some cash. I still run the cop seat pan without the rest of the seat. I replaced the old air bladder with a dog Kong (chew toy), which works great for $10. Some day I plan on covering the seat pan with leather or something nice... Yeah, I'm a hard-ass. Thanks for the great overview of your new bike.
Thank you! I want to convert the flashing lights in the front to standard lights. Did you do that? I have already replaced the red/blue bulbs, but they only come on when I hit the red switch on the right hand thumb control
@@RidingandWrenching I bought my bike from a place in Texas that already switched out the red/blue bulbs; I guess they couldn't legally sell it to the public that way(?). The switch for those on my bike has always been the red thumb slider switch on the RH side. I've had no issues so I haven't changed it. Thus far I've done a stage 1 (V&H Bigshots true duals and SE air intake) My intake was originally stock. The bike sounds and performs incredible! I also replaced the compensator with a SE unit last year. It had the weaker comp which was too wimpy for that 103" engine. I endlessly love my bike 'Prudence'. Thus far I've done two Iron Butt's with her, been to Sturgis twice and she'll faithfully take me wherever I want to go... all on a metal seat pan. She's a good bike.
That was a very nice and effective review, Sir! I'm not a Harley owner but I'm planning to be one and I'm sure that following your channel will give me all the info I need for making that important step. Thanks a lot for the good work!
I wonder if the push to talk feature might also be for when the officer would speak to the driver (speaker assembly required) of a vehicle that has just been pulled over before the officer dismounts and approaches the stopped vehicle. Thanks for the video. You have a very nice Police Edition Road King which in itself sets you favorably apart.
I own two police bikes. One is a 1994 FLHTP and the other is a 2007 Road King Police bike. I have owned the 1994 since 1995 and it originally came from Houston, TX. The 2007 was an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Motorcycle Drill Team bike. I have approximately 120,000 miles on the 94 and had the engine rebuilt at 87,000 miles. I kept the solo seat on the 94. I love both bikes and they are two completely different rides.
Cue, I wouldn't change much on that bike! I think it looks bad azz like it is! Maybe do some "comfort" mods to make it more comfortable to ride, but I personally love the look of all the lights and turn signals, etc. I would bet that Push to talk button you mentioned allows the rider to talk to dispatch over his radio. Great looking bike, and great video!
Another great video a long with your good sense of humor. Love your energy and all the great information you are putting out here for all of us. Keep up the good work and be safe doing it.
Bumpus Memphis can order them for a civilian. They were all set to do so until I found a slightly used FLHR. As for the K1600, you should look into what it costs to do maintenance. You need to take half of it apart to do the 8k mile valve clearance check (~8 hours labor, do the math).
Yes that is an option but due to the exchange $ rate plus the tax and duty to bring back over the border it's not cost effective considering the cost to option it to buyers preferences. There are ex police bikes here at some private dealerships but generally high kilometers. I recently upgraded to a newer street glide special so I'm very happy at this time. Enjoy your new ride
1. SP Indicator is a Police function. SP stands for speed. You can save a current speed you‘re at an have it saved for stoping a speeding car or bike. Look it up in the manual. 2. You did not mention the stealth mode of the police bikes. You can actually switch off all lights (except the tail light) while riding. 3. You can NOT install a theft siren. The Police bikes don‘t have the fitting cable. Perhaps the dealer could do it but they would have to wire it from scratch. I have one myself. Love it! I recommend the Custom Dynamics Adaptive LED headlight!
If you want to let go of the light bar set up that you remove... I may be interested in picking it up from you .... plz let me know... many thx .. very good vid ... appreciate that
I have a Harley police Road king it’s a 2012 and I love it, but like you say it needs a lot of improvement. The first thing I did was replaced the seat and the rear shocks. They were both air and they sucked, I put a legend suspension on the rear and a mustang seat and I also replaced the slip on with Vance and Hines. Like you say, they are very hard to find I looked for a few years to find one, and I finally found one used up in New Hampshire with only 6000 miles on it. They had a few of them up there, the place was seacoast HarleyDavidson in Rochester New Hampshire I guess they lease them out to police departments in the area of them had low mileage from 6000 to 10,000 miles. They didn’t have any new ones.

I have a 2016 FLHP. A couple of Harley sales guys told me that an FLHP has a higher output alternator to feed the extra electrical equipment and also has a different cam. I didn't really believe this, so I wrote a letter to Harley - supplied the VIN - and asked if this was so. No. Engine-wise, on a 2016, anyway, an FLHP is the same as an FLHR. I had to get rid of those siren and pursuit light switches. I'd hit one accidentally and cause a weird light flashing issue. So I took out the switch and put on nice chrome caps.
Where did you happen to buy this bike. I live in Jackson TN and they presently have a 22 used one that they actually just sold ne last year. Giving it some thought. I actually have a BMW K1600GTL. Sweet bike for sure.
Try cranking the preload all the way up on the left rear shock absorber. That will help give you more clearance and you won’t drag the kickstand as much.
@@jesusacovarrubias1390 as it turns out, changes to the tires don't make a difference. I have yet to swap out the shocks, but I think that will help a little. The rest will come from improved technique. I'm not planning to make any other changes to the bike to add clearance.
I have a 2018 Police model Road King. When in SP mode, if you press and hold the toggle switch, it'll lock the current speed. I suppose that it's when following another vehicle, you can use this to show the speed you and speeder were going. I'm watching today because, despite having smart battery tender on (for six months) bike won't start. Ignition on: lights and gauges work but, press start and 'click' nothing more. Won't turn over. I think I must jump start it because I had a new charger on overnight and still it won't start.
Recomend you try the Legend rear air ride. Gives you the hight when you want it also allows you to firm the shock on the fly. I would put the super thick carlinni bars on this bike I have them and they get a lot of love from every one. Great video.
Good insight on your decision to purchase this. Have always considered one but not as many options to purchase in Canada as there are in the US. I'm sure this will be a very nice ride once you completed your wish list. Cheer's
IMO the Police RK is the best “all around” street bike made. I have a ‘21 and love it! Only one mod needed - a Utopia back rest and that motor becomes the most comfortable ride ever.
great bike, I had a 2009 road king police, finally traded it in on a 2019 ultra limited, police bikes are rock solid, and yes I put the police solo seat on my 2019, with a matching pillion pad for the wife to ride with me
I own and ride an 04 electraglide police. She has never given me any problems. But it is tough getting all the police off. As yours is solid black, mine is solid white. And i keep it bone stock. Well as far as performace up grades go. For some reason everyone seems to think thier is a performance package on police bikes. And mine certainly doesnt have any. But a hi out put alternator.
Check out Ultimate Seats for a solo seat that looks awesome and is VERY comfortable for long rides. I own a 2016 Indian Roadmaster. I have removed the large luggage box from the back of the bike, have replaced the original seat with a solo seat from Ultimate Seats, and removed the front lower fairings. The bike has the hard case bags and looks exactly like your Road King. It has the 111 cubic inch engine (1811 cc) engine with six speed transmission. Polaris owns Indian and has done an excellent job with the engine and transmission design (and especially with the overall design of the bike). I wanted a Harley all my life, but the Indian satisfies what I want in a bike. Thanks for sharing. As for turning, check out the police training courses... you can turn any bike in a very small space when the correct technique is utilized. Again, thank you.
@@ChrisVanMiddelkoop a found another key difference too. The handlebar clamp on the police model is smaller. If you want to change the bars, you also need a new handlebar clamp
The tires are 17 front/16 rear. I'm told the charging system is beefier but I don't know how to confirm that. I also don't know about the cam. I assume it's the same one as the civilian road king special. It feels about the same as other 114s that I have riden

The SP has to do with a speed capture display feature. Ride the bike with the SP mode on, then hit the trigger switch and it will capture the speed you are going at that time.

Ihave an 08 electra glide white one setup the same. The only thing I have done is put the yellow blinker to red brake light conversion kit on. I now have 4 red lights on the rear to catch the attention of the idiot drivers around me. And it looks really cool...
I don't plan on doing alot of rodeos. Probably one a year. It will be a good way for me to keep my skills sharp
The PTT button allows for communication with dispatch other officers while riding. Takes me back to my issue bike.
Thank you!
Interesting. First time hearing the difference. Your riding skills are impressive. Have a good one from Bartlett TN
Thank you!
Nice!!
Nice! I'm planning to do a stage 1 on mine too. I don't want it super loud, just a nice rumble. This could quickly become my favorite bike!
I have a 2020 FLHP. At the time it had the 114 as apposed to the 107 on the FLHR. and still less expensive. Had a lot of fun making it my own.
The 114 is a blast in a "light weight" bike like this!
Love your video. I have a 2010 Road King police bike. I love it and have driven it coast to coast. It is a great bike.
Wow! I have an 18 RG. That's my long distance bike.
Couldn't agree more!
Another difference (I think) between the Police and the civilian RK, is the Police version also has a higher output alternator to handle all the extra electronics they carry. Great video, keep 'em coming!
great point. I've been told that it has a high flow air cleaner too.

Thank you!
Great choice, last August I bought a 2016 FLHR Road King, best bike I’ve ever had. Soon as I start customizing I’ll be sharing with you.
Nice! What color did you get? I've been told HD makes the police bikes in 24 different colors
looks like yours basic black@@RidingandWrenching
I have an 06 Road King. I recently put a set of 9.5” pullback risers and moto bars on it. It’s amazing how comfortable and how much more control I have over the 16” ape hangers that were on it when I bought it.
Tall bars don't make it easy to control the bike. The max I will do on this bike is 12"
It's called THE KING for a reason!!
It shall be called King George!
5:09 - Radio. The helmet mic would be connected to the PTT button.
Gotcha. Thanks for the info
Can't wait to see it with your mods!
Coming soon!
Any wiring issues with the 18?
@@RidingandWrenching Negative, We have taken it on many long road trips and everthing has been smooth.
Change fluids and hop on and ride.
I am loving this bike. It feels like a blank slate to have fun with. Definitely the most bang for the buck for a Harley touring bike
Push To Talk (PTT) activates the radio mic - which is only on when the button is pushed. Keeps it from constantly transmitting background noise.
Thank you!
I haven’t done any real writing with it yet. But I’ll get some riding Once the weather gets better
The road king is the best Harley model. Congratulations on new bike!
It really is!
I bought mine in late January, and she will be my forever bike.
It's a great bike! I love mine!
Congratulations on the new bike 👍
Thanks Karl!
What did you do with the speedometer? Did you move it to the tank like standard Road Kings?
The handlebar speedo is awesome!
I have a 2020 police road king….did all the swaps he said lol with eBay I love this bike
I have a bunch of spare parts....anything else, I will probably shop on Amazon
Also: Bigger alternator, oil cooler...Thanks for sharing. I love mine it is exactly like yours...I have a RK Special seat on it which I like...
Glad it was helpful!
Love it best value HD has congratulations
Absolutely!
Seemed right to me. I'll find out and mention that in a future video
Police bikes are an incredible deal if you can find a good one.
Dude, you are so fun. This was a great bike tour.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!!
Thank you. Most of the mods will be cosmetic. I really like this bike!
You are a gentleman and a kind soul , and I can tell that you also LOVE HARLEY DAVIDSONS!! YEAH BABY!!! Go Kings!
Thank you for the kind words!!
Another great video a long with your good sense of humor. Love your energy and all the great information you are putting out here for all of us. Keep up the good work and be safe doing it.
Thank you!
Congrats on the new bike !!!
Thank you!
Beautiful bike! Enjoy
Thanks!
I own a 2016 Police Road King and it‘s pretty much stock. Just replaced the shifter link, new Remus slip ons and Wilbers rear shocks.
Shifter link! That's a good one. I'll probably do that too
The PTT is for integrated helmet comms
Thank you!
Got a 2002 Police Road King very nice bike in excellent condition 19,000 miles
Nice! Mine has just over 1000 miles. It's a fantastic motorcycle
cant wait to see what you do with this, I'm thinking the same route for my next bike
Bang for the buck, this is the best bike I have
Very cool bike. I like the looks better than the regular Road King. Great presentation.
Thank you! It's a fun bike for sure
Thank you. Hopefully you can find a good used police bike.
You have a beautiful RK Police....I love the old school look....I wouldnt change much on it...
Thank you!
Have a lot of experience with the police road king and electraglides. I was a motorcycle cop for ten years.
Great video and information, thank you
Thank you for watching!
Great video, Sir. There's nothing more sinister than a black and chrome Harley. Making them your own is the fun part. In my opinion.
I really like this bike! The chrome looks fantastic...nice contrast against the black paint
The push to talk was for the police radio with the head set the rider would wear with a noise cancelling microphone.
Thank you!
Lots of great info! Thank you!!
I have a 23 Police Road King and i love it. It also has more horsepower and torque that the standard 114
I didn't know that! This bike is a blast to ride. I can't wait to start tinkering with it
SP is speed capture. Used to track speed of a vehicle. Press and hold while following a car. It gives you the speed digitally.
Thank you
P-T-T is the mic button but for the unequipped radio in your unequipped Tour Pack.
Thank you!
If you want to let go of the light bar set up that you remove... I may be interested in picking it up from you .... plz let me know... many thx .. very good vid ... appreciate that
send me an email. I plan to remove the lights this weekend.
They didn’t have any new ones.
only 6000 miles! That's awesome! Have you replaced the auxiliary (red/blue) flashing lights on the front with non-flashing? Do I have to rewire?
@@RidingandWrenching the dealership had already replaced the red and blue lights with regular lights, but when I got the motorcycle home, I changed the headlight and the passing lights with LEDs
@@RidingandWrenching the dealership had already replaced the red and blue lights with regular lights, but when I got the motorcycle home, I changed the headlight and the passing lights with LEDs
If I can't figure out how to repurpose those switches, I will do the same.
Where did you happen to buy this bike. I live in Jackson TN and they presently have a 22 used one that they actually just sold ne last year. Giving it some thought. I actually have a BMW K1600GTL. Sweet bike for sure.
I bought it at Bumpus in Memphis. I plan to do a review of the k1600. It's a great looking motorcycle
Nice bike...thanx for sharing and ride safe.
Well done ! Love the T-shirt.
Thank you!
Try cranking the preload all the way up on the left rear shock absorber. That will help give you more clearance and you won’t drag the kickstand as much.
I'm going to try that!
I’m curious about raising the bike up for more clearance. Instead of taller tires, are there dog bones that raise the suspension, lifting the frame?
@@jesusacovarrubias1390 as it turns out, changes to the tires don't make a difference. I have yet to swap out the shocks, but I think that will help a little. The rest will come from improved technique. I'm not planning to make any other changes to the bike to add clearance.
Great video and very interesting Hope all goes well with the roadking up grade my friend 👍
Thank you! So far so good. I'll get started with the upgrades after my rodeo in Pensacola.
Looks like a great find. Ive been looking at police bikes for a while now for slow speed patterns. 👊✌️👍
It's been a lot of fun. I will be taking this bike to Pensacola for a rodeo next month
I have a 04 FLHPI and love it.
This bike has been great! I've been wearing a full face helmet with bluetooth, so I don't miss the radio on my RG
Very nice bike Cue!! Congratulations!! Looking forward to see how you make out your own
Thank you!
Recomend you try the Legend rear air ride. Gives you the hight when you want it also allows you to firm the shock on the fly. I would put the super thick carlinni bars on this bike I have them and they get a lot of love from every one. Great video.
Thanks for the tip!
Push to Talk is for a PD headset mic and helmet speakers.
Thank you!
Good insight on your decision to purchase this. Have always considered one but not as many options to purchase in Canada as there are in the US. I'm sure this will be a very nice ride once you completed your wish list.
Cheer's
Are you able to buy in the US and bring it back to Canada?
IMO the Police RK is the best “all around” street bike made. I have a ‘21 and love it! Only one mod needed - a Utopia back rest and that motor becomes the most comfortable ride ever.
I will be installing the Utopia back rest before I head to Pensacola. Video coming soon!
I installed a police seat on my '97 king. I like the old school look of it.
I actually like the look of the police seat. They aren't the best for long distance riding though
@@RidingandWrenchingGet a Utopia back rest and that seat will become the most comfortable seat you’ll ever sit on.
I'd like to see how to adjust the spring on the tractor seat. I can't seem to figure them out on my work bike.
I'll add that to a future video on the Road King. I will be adjusting the shocks....I will do the seat in the same video
There's a jam nut over the adjuster. You use the same spanner to unlock the jam nut that is used for the adjuster nut.
great bike, I had a 2009 road king police, finally traded it in on a 2019 ultra limited, police bikes are rock solid, and yes I put the police solo seat on my 2019, with a matching pillion pad for the wife to ride with me
Nice! I'm hoping to teach my wife to ride too. This bike is lighter than my Road Glide, so maybe she won't be so afraid
Great review ! Thank you 🙂
Thank you!
I can wait to see what you’re going to do with this bike.
I also ride a Road King 👑
I’m so happy for you
Thank you! The upgrades begin next weekend!
You have a great voice for radio you should be on talk radio
I’m serious
I have been told that many times. Funny thing is that I've never liked the sound of my voice
Have you been able to convert the flashing lights on the front to always on?
Thanks for sharing! I considered an Indian in the past, but my local dealer closed. They make fantastic motorcycles
Push to talk is for their two way radios, there's probably a headset similar to a Cardo on their helmets.
Thank you!
I bought a new 2020 Electraglide police. So I’m interested in what you’re doing.
The cosmetic mods start next week!
It looks like they got rid of the hockey pucks on top of the saddlebag lids?
I'm not sure what the hockey pucks looked like. My bags looks like any other Harley saddlebag.
@@RidingandWrenching it made it easier to open saddlebags with one hand for officers
Congrats looking forward to the videos. That BMW is on my list.
Right on!
wow. I didn't know there was so many differences. Thanks for this. I was thinking about maybe getting an old police bike.
@@ChrisVanMiddelkoop a found another key difference too. The handlebar clamp on the police model is smaller. If you want to change the bars, you also need a new handlebar clamp
If you please, Tires / Charging system / Cam all should be a upgrade compared to stock. What is on the bike?
The tires are 17 front/16 rear. I'm told the charging system is beefier but I don't know how to confirm that. I also don't know about the cam. I assume it's the same one as the civilian road king special. It feels about the same as other 114s that I have riden
@@RidingandWrenching I believe you have 59 amp system. Tires may be police issue compound and the Cam ???
Always loved and wanted one. Could make even swap my Road Glide for one, though not really sure ahahaha
I'm keeping my RG for long distance riding. I've got 90,000 miles on it....it isn't worth much on trade, but it's a fantastic motorcycle.
I bought my 2022 FLHP with 3 miles on it. Mine is in Virginia Highway Patrol colors
I wish I had been able to get one two-tone, black and white
I love my Road King. I would like to get a street glide next.
Wish I had gotten the Street Glide CVO, then I'd have one of each! RG, SG, and RK
