Great tutorial. Really inspiring to see your progression since the early days of the 10 minute challenge. It's great that you always keep your mistakes in the videos and explain how they occurred and how you fixed them.
Thanks! I am learning this myself at the moment, and even for the stuff I know better I keep making mistakes so it's just part of the process. Learning from the mistakes of others might work :)
@Imphenzia this is one of the best hand-painted low-poly plane I've seen so far. You could have added scorch marks in front of the machine guns, and gunpowder residue that flows backward when the guns are fired on old bi-planes or even WW2 planes as well.
You can apply the mirror modifier after unwrapping and then repack the UV islands, effectively meaning you do half as much work while not keeping overlapping UVs
I love all this videos, it goes through so many different models and helps me learn different ways to solve things so i soon can start making things myself. thanks. even though the videos is fast paced seeing the keys helps alot. Grymt jobbar/ annan svenne
Good stuff. You should set the Image Texture node with your bump map image to non-colour data or Linear, otherwise there will be some colour contrast enhancement which works great for diffusion and such, but changes the results of the in-between levels of a bump map, roughness map, etc.
It's interesting to watch you comprehend new frontiers in game development. And it's like we're all in the same class with you. Let it happen that we already know something, but you can always find it in a video like- what could you do that?))
how would you handle texturing if you wanted to modularize this in a game. doesn't make sense to hand paint each model. Is there a fast way to bring over this design into another version of the base model like a 2 wing plane? or one with bigger wheels or more guns?
Hi, you'd probably unwrap the weapons and other modules on separate textures so you can combine different objects in the game. You could also have the two upper wings as a separate object so it could be enabled/disabled.
Thanks! But they actually synced the guns to shoot between blades as they rotated. I believe it was don mechanically so that it would be reliable :) sounds scary, right?? :)
Nice Conted! Very nice to see this not so rushed video with great details and a great looking endresult! I was wondering if the opensource scene already did a game where different Artist and other talented programmes work together. So its like a growedfounded and -developped game and everyone contributing actualy also gets some of it, game or a amound of money. Does this already was done? Just some opensource thourghts I wanted to share too. Thanks for your videos!
Hi, thanks! Glad you like it! It's tricky to edit down 7 hours to 15 minutes, so I'm glad you thought it wasn't so rushed. We've been speaking a bit in the Imphenzia Discord about a community game, but it's tricky to get it organized - someone would need to be the main admin to coordinate, inform, and maintain the repository etc. And if it is a commercial game, sharing the profits from a steam release is a bit complicated with tax laws and some countries require employer agreements and things, so there are some administrative difficulties around a commercial release too - but I've always liked the idea of it!
Hii Imphenzia this is amazing i love creator and this is Game for adopt me , Broken Bones and all , members , creators , friends and teams , name is ROBLOX
They actually worked like this in ww1 and 2. By timing/delaying the firing of the shots with the propellers rotation so shots did go 'through' the propellers.. :)
@@katoomm0m0 thanks for the explanation. My first thought was that this plane would require some kind of syncing mechanism for it to work property, but I didn’t know that it’s prev-century tech already 😀
this is amazing. loving to see how much youve progressed and how open you are to sharing your knowledge with others
Thanks, I appreciate it - and you're welcome =)

That's a very attractive result for such a tiny number of triangles.
Thanks, yeah, not so many triangles.
@@Imphenzia For my model generation and render engine, anything less that 1m triangles means "that's fine" 😄
I audibly gasped when you plugged in the bump and roughness maps. Great work!
The final result is awesome!
Thanks, I was happy with this one :)

Handpainted low poly is an awesome style. I like it more than simple vertex paint!!

you are killing me, i want to go to modeling but wanna keep watching your videos 😁
Show off. Really. Great work as usual. I have a long way to go...

I didnlt know I needed this like I din;t know I needed to upgrade my blender
dammmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnn didnt knew that we could make align dots like this hahah thanks dude
Yeah, haha, I stumbled across that during that specific moment, added to the memory bank :)

Thank you for this video. Especially the painting part was very informative.
Im think of making a game with old aircraft including stuff like the storming this is very helpful thank you!
Love your videos mann
Good work. I am about to take the plunge into 3d. Thanks for the instruction. : )

looks fantastic!!! you're an inspiration
I love your videos but have u ever tried using everything to make an RPG game or a game like minecraft in unity please try it.
Looks awesome!
marvelous!
amazing, im not modeling but i subscrib

hmm you could use UDIMs for more texture space :)
Great job 👍
Really nice Plane :D
I would love a full tutoriels 🤩
Your hand painting is WAY better than mine! XD
This is so cool! Curious if you plan to explore substance or quixel mixer at some point or stay within blender?
So cute 😍
mark sharp/seem first , then apply mirror and unwrap
it will save you a lot of time
Damn GameDev TV is a bit pricy, seems like the right thing for me but I hope you still posr tutorials over here and exclusive tutorials over there
Wow! Incredible work! Absolutely love it! Btw - this biplane will shoot off its blades while firing =)
Thanks! But they actually synced the guns to shoot between blades as they rotated. I believe it was don mechanically so that it would be reliable :) sounds scary, right?? :)
why is yours so good! Everytime I try to paint onto a model is al looks sludgy and weird
thank you. how you make the fun of airplane move like this???
Sorry i am confused. This plane will be firing through the fan ? If those are guns on top of engine.
Guns are synced using a gear with propeller rotation to fire between the blades (I think they did that in WW1)
@@Imphenzia 😅 did not know that. thank you ❤
When will you try to model and hand pain a low poly character?
Maybe for next episode :)
Very nice.
today i remember Imphenzia .. so came here why he is absent on youtube ?is everything all right!

you can do anything, if given enough time
who works for shameful money anyways
Did I see it correctly that you put seams on the top and bottom edges of the open ends from the 6 engine pipes? Why???
I forgot that I deleted the end caps, then those seams would be required if they were still there :)
I could use the mesh building part, too, actually :) Not every step is clear about what was exactly done. Thanks anyways - a great video.
Interesting you trying out high poly modeling?
I will probably get to sculpting and retopology after a period of handpainting low poly stuff.
Modeling wings has a part missing... Why is that 😐
You are a great Designer + Coder.....
Can you please model Harry Potter 10 magic wands

Yeah, it's cool that they dared to implement that back in the day - or even now for that matter. Not sure I'd fully trust the syncing :)

My only fear is when you shoot your propellers off >.< other than that I don’t know how I got here
