- Fujistu 8170 Scanner Marking NEW FIX with TAPE!! THIS REALLY WORKS!
I did this quick video to help someone who asked me how to fix this issue. I did not have this issue, but I know others who have; therefore, I thought this would be a good time to put the information out there. If you have any questions or need any help, just drop me a msg or email.

I just wrapped it in a little bit of masking tape, without taking it apart. It works!
awesome video love the detective work! Do you find you often get streaks running down your scan images due to dust etc? Keen to hear how often you clean your lens and do you use any lens cleaners etc.
hey man - great video. just curious as to how this fix held up over the months ? it’s a shame , these machines are beasts and nothing else really compares to them on the market - i would make the investment but not if they will damage cards over time , hoping you found the magic fix….
I am 130k plus cards into it and it is running like
A champ!
@@maxwaxpax perfect - that’s what i wanted to hear , gonna order mine up now then rewatch your videos and apply that tape. thanks again man - happy selling
@@maxwaxpaxlast quick question, mind sharing the type of tape you use ? a form of athletic tape ?
How are you fixing the scratches when scanning with top Loaders?
The white anti jam mechanism is a big problem leaving scratches. I have been through 2 fi 8170 scanners now. I have talked to tech support multiple times and they have no fix for issue.
Have you figured out any kind of fix with top Loaders?
Plus I have another brand new scanner and it also still gets scan lines on the Images not a the time. This is with penny sleeves and top loaders.
Hard to believe No one is talking about these issues with penny sleeves and top loaders.
I actually created a video where I am very much opposed to scanning top loaders after one ended up scratching the scanning glass. This was a huge red flag for me. Fujitsu was amazing and did replace the scanner since it was brand new, but I made sure to mention that I do not think this is a good idea at all. I cannot give you an answer on this due to the fact that I am simply not using top loaders with this scanner anymore. I use my ScanSnap ix1300 for thicker scans. Sorry I could not be more help.
Could you please do the video showing how to put those black parts back. I did it after watching your removal video and immediately regretted it. Thin cards flowed thru like water. I have my springs but unsure which ones goes on what part. Recommendations on the right type of tape for your hack? How long do you expect it to last? Thank you.
You got it. I will get this done today for you my friend. As for the tape, I tested painters tape and it held up as well. I am currently in the process of making a 3D rubber print of the part to test as well but the tape seems to be doing really well. I will run about 1000 cards today through it and be able to report back if it held up but so far so good.
I appreciate you. Ty
here you go! ua-cam.com/video/OiXbcqUu1W8/v-deo.html Let me know if you have any questions.
How long did you have the scanner before it started scratching the cards?
for most people it was pretty quick but is also depends on the cards. I scanned about 100K cards and did not notice it and then started noticing it more which prompted me to make this part.
